Dissapointing

For all the hype in previous reviews about this being the "Best boxing game ever made" this game sure has alot of flaws. First of all thats a pretty bold statement to make especially when this game lacks many of the features of its predecessor, the original Knockout Kings from 1999. In the career mode you have just 4 or 5 faces to choose from, unlike in the original Knockout Kings where a huge selection of trunks, hairstyles, and faces were at the gamers disposal for creating the ideal fighter. And why retire the fighter after he wins the title? Why not let him go deeper into career mode? Sure, the graphics in this game are improved but the hard hitting shots and sounds are lacking, making this a game that you easily get bored of.n You just dont feel the exitement that you did in the original. In the original you could feel your player hit the canvas when he was knocked down. You could feel your player get rocked after a hard shot that stunned him, I just dont see those features here, and as a matter of fact its a mystery to me why Electronic Arts takes away many good features of their games each year, theyre supposed to improve on their flaws not completely change a nearly perfect game. The slugfest mode is a joke and is more attractive to people who like arcade games not serious boxing. Too many flaws for a game that is supposedly claiming to be "The best boxing game ever". It will be lucky to crack the top 3.....

This game is the best boxing game I've ever played. It has the most great boxers ever assembled in one game. Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Just some of the names. I have played every boxing game and this is the best one.

Knockout Kings for ps2 is not perfect, but it is the best boxing game I have ever played. Only problems with the games is, the loading time. If you are playing career mode, the loading time between rounds seems like a waste of time. The create a boxer could be a little more detailed orientated, and if Mike Tyson and Felix Trinidad was included, that game would be 5 stars.

A very good boxing game, at least for now.

The graphics are very good, especially the tattoos and hairstyles of the various boxers. There are lots of real boxers in here, including (to my surprise) a local boxer in my area named Diego Corrales. There is a wide range of music to choose from to be your entrance music, and all sorts of "attitudes" you can choose from. The AI is better than the original, as now the opponent knows when to avoid you at all costs and knows when to trade blows. It can be frustrating when you know that if you land one more haymaker, the opponent will go down. Unfortunately, he knows that as well, and he's avoiding you until the end of the round.

The drawbacks of this game is in the Create a Boxer mode, where actually the options are pretty limited. Loading time is also a hassle, but when you are at the title screen, you can go to options and turn off the cutscenes. This eliminates all waiting between rounds. Actually I almost wanted to turn it back on because my forearm was starting to get sore from all that non-stop button mashing! More drawbacks include the training mode, which in my opinion improves the boxers too much. Another is the difficulty of the body/head combos. Body combos and head combos are easy to pull off, but when you try to mix the two, it's very difficult. Also there's this Special Punch feature which I don't think means anything, since I haven't figured out how to use it.

However, all in all, it's a pretty good boxing game. If you want to make it really challenging, make your fighter short, and you'll have fits trying to reach those six foot plus opponents.

Fun Game For a While

This was the first ps2 game I got. It is great fun at first, but it gets boring rather quickly. Knockout Kings 2000 is just as good, with the exception of the graphics. Nothing compares to the ps2! Rent it first and make sure you really like it. It's not for casual boxing fans.

GREAT GAME

All I can really say is, this game is probably the most fun game on the PS2. When you have friends over and have a slugfest, people really get into it and it is incredibly fun

Dont waste your time

Ill keep it short, dont waste your time. Load times are horribly long and they focus too much on the boxers of my grandpas age. They try and add new things like female boxers (only like 3 or 4 of them) but you cant have a career with them. Also it would be cool if you could create a boxer with a name longer than 5 letters. And stuff like choosing your corner men is stupid too cause they all look the same and dont do anything anyway. Now dont get me wrong I love EA sports, I think they are the best, but this game ... im sorry. Dont waste your cash on this!!! Or go ahead, but dont say I didnt warn you!!!

This game is just average in my opinion. Also, I simply don't understand how "Felix Trinidad" could be missing?!! As I recall he was the best fighter when this game was released. Kind of a disappointment.

THE FUN FACTOR IS THROUGH THE ROOF!

What can I say about this game? I've been playing it for the past week or so and it is indeed incredible. It far surpasses the two games before it. The graphics are literally staggering. The knockdowns are incredible, and most of all, it is too much fun to play. The fighting system is so much better in this one. In other words, you don't have to necessarily decrease your opponent's health meter in order to knock him out. The season mode is somewhat similar to the past two games. You fight a ton of matches, win the title, defend it about 6 or 7 times, then your boxer retires. But it's still a lot of fun. For those looking for a realistic boxing game with mind-blowing graphics to boot, you can't go wrong with this. I guess my only problem with the game would be the create-a-boxer mode. The amount of looks to choose from is extremely limited. Otherwise it's a top-notch game.

This game is really cool. I loved the "Create your own boxer". I also liked the game because it shows all the great boxers. You will really love this game.
