Graphically awesome. "Dynamic Punch Control" and multi-style boxers allow for infinite "in the ring" possiblities. However, out of the ring, the game goes nowhere. The training sessions are good, yet the same linear "climb the ranks" approach is getting old. Also, the "create a boxer" options are limited (i.e..limited shorts, gloves, tatoos). The big disapointment is that you can NOT fight created boxers against each other! Even KK99 had that option. It is my opinion that EA Sports held back on the out of the ring options. KK01 for the PSX has more options (i.e..aging, clothing). I would suggest sacrificing graphics for more game options and buying the cheaper version for the PS1. The PS2 version looks great but, unfortunetly, that is all. I think Knockout Kings is the best boxing games you can buy, however, it is nowhere near the level it should be.
Overall a good game i would recommend that u buy the game

Almost everything about this game is perfect but in career mode when creating ur guy u should be able to have more adavanced commands for the looks and u should be able to go as many fights as u want not only 22 fights. The gameplay is AWESOME in this game it is hard and just like fights in real life. The graphics are pretty good but they could be better. I think this is the BEST boxing game made for any system which i own all of them. I highly recommend that u buy this game right now u will love it.

This is a game that is packed with a wealth of fighters, from Ali to De La Hoya. The fighting scenes are good and very smooth. The degree of difficulty, however, is not very challenging. The game play is extremely slow due to the frequent and absurd amount of loading time it required. Overall, its a better than average game that needs a little more work.

Well EA sports bounces back from the NBA live disaster with KK2001. My only complaint about the PS1 version of this game was how easy it was, you could easily go 26-0 with 26 ko's even if the game was set on hard. But the ps2 version is much more difficult, most of the matches go at least 6 rounds and alot of times they go the distance. Only hardcore boxing fans will notice the missing boxers from the Ps1 version(romero, mancini..), all the greats(ali, hagler, chavez) are there. The bottom line on this game is that the graphics and gameplay are phenomenal and Knockout Kings fans wont be disappointed.
buy this game

in my opinion the ps2 has been living up to the much anticipated hype of its release, and knockout kings 2001 is no exception. the boxers are life-like, the ease of playing the game is unbelievable, the difficulty level is high, and the options and modes are incredible. there are so many great boxers included in the game, such as ali, mayweather, robinson, sugar ray leonard, de la hoya, mosley, lennox lewis and hoyfield to name a few. you can set up slugfests in all divisions, fight anywhere from madison square garden to the roman coleseum, the commentary is repitive but still exciting, and the fighting is unbelievable. the best aspect is the career mode in which you can create in a boxer in one of the three weight classes, light, middle and heavyweight, train him and place him or her in fights so that they can go from the bottom of the rankings to the top. the only downside is the lack of some key boxers, most noticeably roy jones jr. and prince naseem, i would have liked more specific weight classes, super heavyweight, light heavy, middle, light middle and so on. but these are minor details, the game will consume hours by yourself or with friends as you try and master a bevy of combinations to the head and body. my advice to you is stretch out the hands and fingers, buy this game and enjoy for days and weeks to come. ....
Is this ps2 or N64?

As far as I am concerned, this game is disappointingly boring and just the same Playstation1 game all over again, where is the gameplay. If I may suggest: DON'T BUY THIS GAME Buy Ready 2 Rumble round 2, Its better and more realistic.
Dissapointing

For all the hype in previous reviews about this being the "Best boxing game ever made" this game sure has alot of flaws. First of all thats a pretty bold statement to make especially when this game lacks many of the features of its predecessor, the original Knockout Kings from 1999. In the career mode you have just 4 or 5 faces to choose from, unlike in the original Knockout Kings where a huge selection of trunks, hairstyles, and faces were at the gamers disposal for creating the ideal fighter. And why retire the fighter after he wins the title? Why not let him go deeper into career mode? Sure, the graphics in this game are improved but the hard hitting shots and sounds are lacking, making this a game that you easily get bored of.n You just dont feel the exitement that you did in the original. In the original you could feel your player hit the canvas when he was knocked down. You could feel your player get rocked after a hard shot that stunned him, I just dont see those features here, and as a matter of fact its a mystery to me why Electronic Arts takes away many good features of their games each year, theyre supposed to improve on their flaws not completely change a nearly perfect game. The slugfest mode is a joke and is more attractive to people who like arcade games not serious boxing. Too many flaws for a game that is supposedly claiming to be "The best boxing game ever". It will be lucky to crack the top 3.....

This game is the best boxing game I've ever played. It has the most great boxers ever assembled in one game. Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Just some of the names. I have played every boxing game and this is the best one.
