It could have been better if i wasn't getting screen sick from all the motion of the 3-d style. Especially when I am trying to find where I am going. I get lost a lot so I keep on moving back and forth. Almost wanted to puke. So I started it but I don't think I can end it because of that. It kind of reminded me of Kingdom Hearts because you have to move around a lot with that too. I didn't enjoy that too much either. I probably like harvest moon ps1 better.
Ehhh... not what it lived up to be.

This harvest moon game takes away nearly EVERYTHING the older ones gave. In this game you cant do anything except go talk to people.
The crops suck because they purposly made it so that you hardly have to water the crops. You cant even get a girlfriend! And as opposed to the previous Harvest moon games... you MUST end your game after a year (and it only takes a month to win it). After that you keep your shack and animals and stuff... but all the people you've worked so hard to gain their respect just forget you. And then you have to go through all of the cienamatics again.
I gave it a two because the 64 version of this game is much better. There is a ton more to do and it is better scripted. Natsume just rushed to start this game up, but I do look foward to their next Harvest Moon Game.
I thought it [stunk].

My friend let me borrow this game because he said it was really addicting and really fun. So I came home and started playing it. I got so bored, so fast. There was no point, I didn't even know what exactly I was supposed to do. Grow crops? How exciting! Oh, build a relationship with the townspeople? That's all right, they dont even talk, and it takes forever for them to finish a sentence...
not much here

I agree with the other reviewer on here; there really isn't too much to do in this game. For a system like the PS2, there should be a lot to write about. Sadly this isn't the case with this version of Harvest Moon, so I would advise you to save your money on this one. The graphics aren't even all that great, and the sound is dated. I'm not sure why this game is priced anywhere near 50 dollars, especially with games like Grand Theft 3 and Tony Hawk 3 on the market.
This game diserves 0 stares.

When I first got this I hadn't done much reading up on it. I was just a bi fan of HarvestMoon and coldn't wait to get the newest one. ALthough I am missing a few of the game boy series... When I sat down to play the game, I gave up with-in 30 minutes. I am not that inteligent when it comes to navigation, adn trust me I got plenty lost. THere were some days I got nothing done and it went to auto sleep. I also enjoyed the farming theme, it is more simulation and thinking. This is just heading towards a regular rpg. I wish they hadn't taken away the farm, family, crops.. or other aspects. Hunting for a dog was aful, even when I tryed and tryed till i cryed in frustration still no dog. I like the sheep, I like the marriges, I liked the events. This was not a game I was too plesaed with. Ahtough my x was pretty good at it so I watch him most of the time. (He understood the navigation) HOwever that really didn't help me get my money's worth...
Don't get it!

I own this game, and it doesn't come close to its original (Harvest Moon 64)! In Save the Homeland, you can't get married, there are no sheep, no festivals, no babies, the game ends after 1 year of play, you must work for a horse, and there aren't many fields to grow crops! I must say though, the graphics are the best I have ever seen! But I didn't think the graphics were worth the price for the game. So, my opinion is, Don't get it! If you don't have Harvest Moon64, spend your money on that!
I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

This game is quite fun if you have the time to put into it, the only thing I dislike is that you only have a limited amount of time to do anything, namely, 1 year. I like to take my time and get everything I can before going on to quests, so Ive had to adjust my Play style a bit. Other than that, its fun. The Harvest Goddess Makes me Laugh. =)
OK But Could Be Better

As I popped Harvest Moon - Save the Homeland into my PlayStation2, I wonder how the game is going to be. I had never played a Harvest Moon game before, and couldn't wait to try it out. Let me tell you, not playing Harvest Moon was definitely WASTED years!
Where to start? Well, my favorite thing about the game is that you take on role-player as the owner of a farm (you get to choose the name and also your name and animals' names...). You can buy chickens and cows. To get a horse, however, you have to work at the Brownie Farm for quite sometime (which is one of the few negative aspects).
Another thing I like about Harvest Moon is that you interact with about, oh I don't know...Up to 20 people, maybe? Harvest Moon is full of friends!
The only MAJOR bad thing about the game is that you only have a "year" to play the game. You have to 'Save the Homeland' from being replaced by a theme park. A good game wasted with this aspect.
So I hope this review helps you decide to get the game. And take a look at Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life (Special Edition).
