Excellent graphics, hours of fun, enornous appear, super action, best RPG available. If you are familiar with Gaunlet style games this one has not only the original Gaunlet style and worlds but so many additions it will work you for hours on end. Best buy for PS2 extremely under rated and over looked by gamers.

This game rocks but u need multitab to do 4 player but its really fun on single. u can be the originals: archer, warrior, wizard or valkerie as well as the new characters: jester, dwarf, sorceress and knight. Fun hack an slash simple minded rpg that gets u right in the action! twice the worlds from gauntlet legends, twice the bosses, twice the power ups, twice the action! I think its worth 20$-30$ at highest! Cant find the game in any store that has games? no prob! Get your copy at amazon.com today!

A great game with many levels that will pull you in and get you addicted. I've heard some good things and some bad things about Gauntlet Dark Legacy and I'll tell you that what I'm about to write is what I think of the game, you may think otherwise. The game boasts of 8 new characters including the original ones as well. An improvement in graphics from its N64 former version, and an improvement in gameplay and sound as well. It also has an excellent arcade feeling to it. My advice to you is to rent it, see what you think, and buy it if you like it!
Awesome game, poor quality DVD

This game is part of the reason I bought the PS2. I was always a Gauntlet addict, and I love being able to play with my son, wife, and friends.
Unfortunately, I'm on my third copy of this game. We haven't put nearly the hours into this game that we did into the Final Fantasy games, Spy Hunter, or other favorites, but for some reason, this DVD keeps dying. They replaced it for us once, but there was still a charge - it's now available for sale at the same amount of money.
Not far from other Gauntlet implementations

It is somewhat surprising how little difference there is between the various implementations. Visually the PS1 version isn't that much different from the PS2 version. Even the cutscenes aren't much better.
There are more characters that one can control but the characters don't gain a significant amount of visual detail in the PS2 version. Part of the problem is that the characters remain about the same size in each version and there isn't a whole lof of detail one can fit in that same amount of screen space.
If you don't have a version of Gauntlet for any platform then get the PS2 version (in this regard I give the game a 4/5). If you already have the PS1 version, get the PS2 one only if you are a die-hard gauntlet fan (in this case I would give the game a 3/5).
Unless Midway ups the visual quality of the next version of Gauntlet significantly, they are going to lose their market to competitors like how they lost Mortal Kombat to the clones.
Gauntlet formula still same.

While there seems to be a 'formula' to Gauntlet games, the POV and the general gameplay, this one has some nice additions ver the N64 game 'Legends'. The graphics are good, the story the same, but there are a few nice extras such as more realms to conquer and additional characters. While I didn't care for the jester at all, the dwarf and the knight were a nice touch. The controls are easy enough to get used to readily and not confusing for my 9 yr old daughter who loves these types of games as much as I do, though I think she would prefer something as sickeningly goofy as Mary Kate and Ashley much to my chagrin. Over all, this game is playable by everyone in the family, even the older members of my household enjoy watching if not playing. The ONLY drawbacks I found were the inability to purchase certain items and then the ability to turn them off at will and the option to sell found items later.
A Good Party Game

Game play is pretty standard, nothing exciting. Enter a level, while exploring the level, shoot the heck out of everything and make your way towards the exit. Repeat this about 30-40 times.
The only reason I gave this game 4 stars was because it's a blast to play at parties. The characters are great, gameplay and controls are straightforward and observers as well as players couldn't get enough of it. Especially if you have greedy friends like I do.
We did have issues concerning the character save function, inventory and the occasional freezing of the game as we progressed to higher levels. The freezing wasn't too bad, it was more of a minor annoyance which ended up being a great way to keep our additive personalities in check.

Gaunlet Legends delivered adeep story line, excellent gameplay, and that old fashioned hack and slay fight to the death. The multiplayer was great. It had you and acouple friends using a warrior of your favorite fighting style. your characters would back to back making your last stand against the enemy. This sequal looks like it will deliver this again. Picking up where Gaunlet Legends left off this story will continue.
Multiplayer fun!

This game is a must have for those of you that have multitaps. My husband was laughing when he heard my neighbors and I laughing about people eating green chicken, running off screen so that we can't move forward and fussing because someone stole the treasure chest they opened. The characters have a variety of abilities and play a big part when putting group parties together. Sorcerers, Wizards, Knights and Dwarves oh what medieval fun. It really is an enjoyable game and there are a plethora of levels with a variety of things to unlock. Challenging, fun and a good replay value. I would highly recommend. it.

The first time I was introduced to this game, my boyfriend was playing it with two of his friends. I got hooked just watching. Soon, I was playing along with them in a 4 player battle with the Spider Queen. Either this game has subliminal messages in the arcade-like graphics or the action music, or it is just THAT good. I recommend it for anyone who has a PS2.
