what a "wow"ing experience! This is my first reaction to this game the first time I played it. Now itz been 2 months, 4dayz, 3hours and 29 seconds and I still couldn't believe why I bought this game. If you really wanna waste your money, time and effort, or in short, if you dont have a life....you definitely should buy this game. I am only giving this game 5 stars coz I bought it and spent my hard earned money on it. And anything I buy is perfect...sayz the joker :)
I've waited FOREVER for this game!!!!

Tell ya what, all you bored gamers waiting for Fall's lineup to hit the store, pick this one up! The story line is extensive and intricate! While the controls may be a little clunky and hard to pick up at first, it's worth it! As you progress through the story and witness some intense cinemas, you really begin to connect with your lead heorine! While fighting is the main concept to this outstanding game, alot of emphasis is also put on interacting with other characters, which you pick up througout the game!
The best thing the gaming industry could do is to make a sequel to this game IMMEDIATELY!
Great Game control and easy play

I believe of the reviews I have read for this game, most fails to focus on what makes this game worth playing. Alot of the other reviews I have read, are bent over, the poor intro to character, and a rather vague insturction manual. It's fair to say that there is little direction that is offer by the game in terms of story. However, the game makes up for it in great game play. The control for this game has got to be some the greatest I have ever seen. It was so easy to figure have to manage inventory and customize the controls to whatever you desire. Which greatly make this game one of most fun and easy to play. I would definitely suggest renting this game. So, you can judge yourself the merits of the game.
More Fun then reviews lead one to believe...

By far this is not a perfect game. therefore I shall attempt to review it on its own merits. it is a bit of a diablo hack & slash clone (which I like!) it is bland and the sound can get annoying but for those of you that liked Gauntlet seven sorrows or Gauntlet Dark Legasy then this might be for you since the formula is so similar! you "level up" more through equipment then any of the standard rpg systems BUT ive played a little game called Jade Cocoon (sorta like dark cloud 1) and this is almost exactly the same play mechanics. so for 5 to 10 bucks its a diablo light version for anyone that likes hack & slash rpg's. gauntlet fans might want to give it a rantal (or buy since renting is about 5 bucks) its definately underrated true theres minimal story but in Hack & Slash games sometimes I really don't want to be annoyed by cinimatic sequences every 5 minutes, sometimes I just prefer Mindless Killing. and the wealth of enemies are enough for anyone here! (albeit a bit endless at times) 3 stars in general but 4 stars for fun factor! if you dont need FF (insert #) cinimatics or drop dead graphics.
Overall Rating: 3 stars.
Sound: 2 stars repetitive and few songs.
Fun: 4 stars if multi player had been added this could have been far better. as it is the hack and slash elements are good.
Graphics: dungeons are ok, towns a bit bland and unpopulated, Creatures look Sweet and are varied! 3 1/2 stars
I Own BG Dark Alliance 1 and 2 and also bards tale, Champions of norrath and at arms! so I am well versed on the subject of hack & slash. I do feel with more polish and more time (it feels very rushed) this game could have been a title like Baldurs gate or champions of norrath. Unfortunately the developers felt they had to rush this one onto the shelf but its a good distraction for a day or two.
A game from a different generation.

When I first played this game, I hated it. It was nothing like the description, previews or expectations I had. However, it actually turned out to be fairly good. This game is a definate throw-back to the days of arcade fun. There is no story, plot, development or interaction. It's pure and simple hack 'n slash action. I love the game's music, as it gives you a great rock/metal background while you do some slaying. This game strongly reminds me of Diablo, in both it's style and simplicity. Definately a suprise offering. Ignore the previews and purchase only if you like the old days of mindless arcade fun.
Oops! Made a mistake buying this one.

Every once in a while you just go ahead and buy a game without knowing anything about it and you are sorry you did. I have had this happen to me once before with a bad game called Deathtrap Dungeon. Well I referred to this game as Deathtrap Dungeon 2 because it's another mistake on my part.
And believe me, I am not all that hard on games. I want to like games and I want to have fun, but there isn't much good about this game. First off, as the other review noted there is no story. You start the game off right in battle, and you expect the story to pick up after that right? Wrong. Think a story is going to show itself at the beginning? Wrong. I have yet to see any story. The only story you will get is from reading the book.
The game kind of reminds me of a Diabalo/Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen, except both of those games were good, and Dark Angel is not. If they would have just thrown in some good voice acting like in Legacy of Kain then the game would be so much better, but they didn't.
The graphics are definately subpar. The menu screen looks like something that could have easily been done on the PS1. Actually, the whole game looks like it could have been on the PS1. The only part that seems above par is the sounds and music. But there is only so many times you can hear a monster grunt, or one say "You'll regret that" after you wax him before that gets old.
They say this game is an Adventure/RPG. I don't see much RPG about it. There really isn't much freedom to wonder around. Guess my idea of a RPG is Phantasy Star, Summoner or Final Fantasy. On Dark Angel you point a silver cursor to one of the areas on the map then it shows brown dots go to that location. There is no getting attacked on your way to anything. Then all you do is crawl around level after level of some dungeon killing lots of monsters, picking up weapons or stuff, hitting switches, and sometimes killing some monster that gives you some item to fullfill a quest you got from one of the towns. Then you take the item back to the town and they give you some money. You also can collect items to take to these shrine things in the towns and they can raise your strength or one of your other attributes.
The towns are pretty bad too. There is very few people in each town, and probably only two of them are of any use to you. Meaning, there are probably only two of them that you can get a quest from and buy and sell items.
I see nothing original or good about the game (besides the sound). And unless you really like just mind numbing dungeon crawling, then I can't really recommend this game to anyone. I can see this game coming down in price real quick because once some people get the word out about how bad it is, people probably won't be buying it too much.
Please rent this game if you really feel the need to play it. Then decide whether or not to buy it, I have a feeling that after a few hours of playing it, you won't want to waste your money on it.
Believe me, I wanted to like this game. I really wanted it to be good, but it just isn't. Please don't make the mistake I did and buy this game because you think it's going to be good, it just isn't.

Meet Anna..thats about all there is to say about a game that was originally hyped as great looking 3rd person survival horror game, suddenly turned into a rather dull Diablo rip-off. Character interaction isn't what the reviews claim it to be (oh sure, the villagers talk to you, but its nothing that you need to go out of the way for) and for a game titled Vampire Apocalpyse, it has nothing to do with vampires! For that matter, the endless questing and hacking of monsters (the hack and slash is the ONLY fun part) gets dull after an hour, and there's STILL no hint anywhere of a storyline or even a minor plot! If you need something to do to just occupy some time, get this game, but if you're looking for a good plot/story related action RPG (if you can really call this game an RPG) then I'd try to steer clear of Dark Angel.

this game is not exactly top notch, hell its lower than bottom notch. i must say that Armorines is just as fun as this game, and thats not good in any humanly possible way...
Graphics-6: the graphics ar pretty bad, Anna does random and stupid stuff in the inventory but the backgrounds are done fairly nice. its a 3/4 overhead view so you cant see much detail on anything, but the sheer number of monsters that can appear on-screen at once is amazing. but with a little down scale on monster # appearance and background textures and a little down-tweaking on character smoothness this could have been done on the PS1, and it would have been better.
Replay-2: if you have the gut to play through this for an hour or more your a brave man who desreves thousands of dollars and a memorial all to himself. if you can pick up the game, play it for 5 mminutes and see that it wreaks ...then your a human being. if you play through the game once, all the way, your godly.
Story-1: what kinda ...game has no story? this one is a good example, you immediately strat off in a fight ina village, the game will pick up after that right, umm NO!!! if you hate story i suggest getting this game.
Control-10: if you can tfigure out the controls you should be shot and dumped in the hoover damn, after that your remains shall be picked clean by seagulls.
Fun-3: sometimes of your bored beyond humanly possible reason you might play this for a quick burst of enjoyment while you hack up endless streams of invincible monsters for about 15 minutes before you need to go puke for every minute of gameplay. also you might wanna hit your head so you dont remember ever playing the gme as it will shatter your humanity.

If you every played Loaded, you'll recognize this game right away. Good action, but lacking in story. You start the game, and immediately you're fighting, with no history, no explanation, anything.
The saving grace of this game is decent graphics, smooth gameplay and the pure joy of slashing through TONS of enemies.
If you're looking for pure action with no plot, go for it. If you're looking for depth, try something else, such as Soul Reaver...

I thought this game was kind of boring. You just go around swinging a sword and killing things. The music was okay.
