this game is not worth paying for. i had more fun going to the dentist than playing this game. first of all, 75% of the game, you have to sit and watch the cinematics rather than playing. second of all, the gameplay was rather boring and repetitive.
Awsome look but game is very lacking

The movies and grafics are very well done, and over all the game looks nice, but the down side is that the game leads you by the nose from fight to fight, showing you what you do, without any control of movement or even what you say. It is basically watch a clip, and then fight.
The first time through you can beat the game in about 2 to 3 hours, and its faster if you go though a second time.
Rent this game before you even think of buying it. Then when you beat it a few times, you can decide if you want it or not.
I'd rather give it a 0 Stars Rating, But Can't

This game has great graphics. The movie scenes are top of the line. The producer is Squaresoft!! The name sounds great!! One catch, the game ... It took me 2 hours to beat it. The gameplay is easy. The plot is ... The villains are annoying. The fighting is awesome, what little it has. I wasted my money, I shall not waste it in vain. Don't buy this game!! Have you ever hated returning a game to the video rental store, and not beating it, and having to rent all over again?!?! This is the game for you. Rent it, beat it, return it...in the same day! In my honest opinion, Squaresoft should stick to the Role-Playing genre,

Though this is a fighter game, first for squaresoft, its still one of the best game for PS2 making PS2 even more worth to buy. Though it only takes me now 30-60min to beat i still dont get bored with, if u're looking to buy a new PS2 game, get this one, it has good cut scenes with the great option of skipping them if u dont want to see them, 3 starting characters with each having about 6 moves to learn with the "Bouncer Points" u get while playing the game, characters and levels to unlock with playing the game with different characters, and much much more! =)

The Final Fantasy series caught everyone's attention, even in recent years with the repetition of styles and stories. Now, Square-EA has taken the same elements that had us awe-struck in the FF games and reproduced them in The Bouncer.
Sion, the protagonist of the game, is akin to Cloud and Squall, and the plot is similar to anything you'd find in an FF game. The only difference: this isn't an RPG. The Bouncer allows the player to control only the fights, not the story, and though this may sound rather bland, it's wonderfully done. As you move from scene to scene, the story never skips a beat--you're always intrigued by what lies ahead. Add to this that the three different playable characters experience the game from various perspectives, and you have a reason to play through the game at least three times. Then, as if that wasn't enough to get this game into our hands, Square took the liberty of including a Versus mode where the enemies you unlock in story mode (some enemies are only unlocked with one of the three characters) are playable characters in versus mode.
The final point is to ignore what magazine reviewers said and try the game for yourself. If you liked the FF series, you'll feel at home with this game. And, if you liked Streets of Rage on the Genesis, then this is the game to get.
an o.k. game

Let me start off by saying this games story in my opinion is kind of stupid. The graphics are great just like every other ps2 game but there's not to much to this game. I mean I understand that its a fighting game and all but all you do is fight. It loads up the next level and you beat up about five or six guys and then it loads up the next level. Meanwhile your character stats are increasing. The only real challenge I got was from the boss of the game Duragon and that was because he's cheap. The game did however have a pretty decent multiplayer mode. When my friends and I got together and played we had a lot of fun and that is why I gave it three stars instead of one. The fact that is extremely short doesn't help either. Personally I wouldn't reccomend buying this game with out first renting it.
Very cool game

A few months ago I rented this game. Squaresoft's first PS2 game not being an RPG, but a fighter? I thought that was kind of wierd. When I started playing it, and the cut-sceans started, it was obvious that the graphics were definaly some of the best I had ever seen. (That is, until Gran Turismo 3 came out.) Not only that, but smooth controls (analog sticks or directional buttons), and great sound. My only complaint is that it took me two hours to beat. But with four player matches, and unlockable characters, you'll never really get bored. This is a great game, that got a lot of awful reviews, but I think it's worth buying. You may want to rent it first though.

The movies in this game were great. Unfortunately the game consists almost entirely of them. The first time through this game was pretty cool, but it doesn't have a lot of replay value. You can rent this and have plenty of time to master it. That's what I did.

The Bouncer is a very good playstation 2 game. But it lacks something, a good storyline. Most of the time Squaresoft makes their games have multiple cds. But this has only one, making the story mode altogether very short. It has great gameplay, and if you are a fighting game fan you will like this. But the problem with the fighting is the characters are slow, you barely notice it and eventually get used to it but it is not a genuine fighting game. But that doesn't take very much out of the game because you only notice it when you first play the game. The most annoying feature in the whole game is that you have to have playstation 2 controllers and memory cards, it won't take playstation ones. The good features about the game is first of all the GREAT graphics. It really represents the Playstation 2's ability. Plus the graphics are almost as good in the fights as in the movies. Second, it has many secret characters. You really have to work to get all of them, though the last boss is really cheap when you have all your characters completely built up. Third, the AI is very good. But the most annoying and unannoying thing is how the AI reacts. In the boss battles they leave the boss alone, allowing you to defeat him so you get the battle points. Bad thing about it is it's like fighting the last boss alone. The best feature of the game is upgrading your characters. Each of the three starting characters has their own different moves that you can buy with bp (battle points) that you gain from defeating enemys in battle. Plus when your rank goes up (a letter on the characters upper right that determines how good the character is upgrade wise) the ranks of the enemy and the secret characters you have unlocked go up too, while adding better moves and stats. Another feature is multiplayer and survival mode. If all else fails to entertain you see how far you can get in survival mode. While multiplayer lets you play with your friends. Sadly the secret characters can only be used in these two. The interesting thing about multiplayer is there's battle royal and team battle. Battle royal is just a 1v1v1v1 battle that allows up to 4 human players, and anyone of those players you can make comps. Team battle is just like story mode. It is two player and each team has a team leader - the first and second players. Each player gets two computer allies. I recomend this game because it takes a while to get bored of, I 've played at least 15 hours and I'm still not bored of it. But I am playing other games too. THE MEMORY CARD IS A MUST HAVE FOR THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
