Batman Vengeance

I really looked forward for this title. I love batman always have and always will. The game has the same actors as in the show. That is a plus right there, but that's all. I'm really sorry about that everything else is so really bad. You will not be given the freedom to control batman like you thought you would. The environment to move around in and interact with is so controlled. It gave the feeling of really not being there. Just want to end the review with could of been a great game for me, but was really disappointed, maybe you see something I did not for right now I'm going to the Store to buy a new game. I bought batman yesterday

Blah!

You know what, sometimes I wish I could give a game zero stars... maybe even NEGATIVE stars!! If this tells you anything I think about this game, then your a quick one! I bought this and in about the time it took me to get home, and try it... I had already started it on fire-literally! Here's the thing if you enjoy pissing away your money, then buy this P.O.S!

Cant see this tedious game

I hate this game. First off, I cant see it. It's too dark. I made it as bright as possible, and I still get a headache from squinting. I can hardly make out the very important ledges I seem to keep falling off of. The controls are awkward, and the levels are unnecessarily tedious. The whole batarang thing is a joke. I'm a huge Batman fan, but I can even stomach the cartoon after playing this game. It's almost as bad as the N64 Superman game. Nothing could be that bad.

Pitiful....

I am a huge Batman fan. Anything with Batman in it, you bet I'll watch it. So when I heard about this game I was so excited. I actually bought the PS2 mostly so I could play this game. I thought this game would be so cool, but boy was I wrong... It isn't that I don't like it being dark or the controls because it's supposed to be dark and the controls work perfectly, you just have to be good with controls. But basically...this game was boring. It was really really boring. And don't think for one second you can use the BatGrapple anytime you want to. Another thing I hate is that theres no Robin, not that he would've made the game's flaws any better but he would have made it more interesting. I mean the only good guys are Batman and Batgirl..... Now if that isnt messed up I don't know what is. I mean where's Robin and Nightwing? Wheres Catwoman?! She's one of the classic villains. And what about all the other villains from the cartoon? They've only got Joker and his Girlfriend, Dr Freeze, and Poison Ivy. They did such pitiful jobs on Joker and Dr Freeze's faces. Dr Freeze's eyes look nothing like that. I mean where are all the classic characters besides Batman and Joker?!

Gameplay is bad. Its so messed up. They make Batman seem so weak. For instance when you fall off of a building there's no way to save yourself. Why do they make it so bad when they know they could make it so cool? Graphics and detail are good but that doesn't make gameplay any better. Another thing I don't like is that cuff junk. I mean seriously guys. Everytime he runs out of cuffs the henchmen just keep coming back. And he is so slow to react to your movements. And it just doesn't have the Batman style. This game almost makes me hate Batman and want to go running to the Superman game for PS2 coming out in September. Man I've played better Batman games at cartoonnetwork.com.... I love Batman so much and it crushed me to see how messed up this game was. Take my advice, if you're a Batman fan, don't get this game. And if you're not a Batman fan, still don't get this game. I traded my cousin this game for a Scooby-Doo one. And it seemed like the best game ever after I got through playing Batman Vengeance. Overall this is the worst game based on the best comic.

I CANT RARE THIS GAME

I expected so much more from this game. Frankly, it is horrible...grossly under-utilizes the PS2's capabilities. Graphics, gameplay, story, and controls are some of the worst I've seen on PS2. Be sure and rent this one before you decide to buy (seriously). ...

RENT IT FIRST!

I, being the nerdy Batman fan I am, was of course drawn to this game, allured by the ability to roam Gotham City and use all his cool gadgets. But I was sadly mistaken. First off, you can't simply "roam around Gotham," like how you can roam Liberty City in GTA III. The levels play more like an obstical course, negaiting the use of the 3-d graphics. His gadgets are a huge let down; his grappler(the thing he shoots a coard from and pulls him up) can only be used at certain points, and it tells you when, so it takes some of that fun away from it. These things are enough to ruin the game. But there's more. The controls are absolutely hellish. Certain things can only be done at certain times, the combat system is sluggish and very unresponsive (try nailing one of those special moves. HA HA! Like that'll ever happen!) not to mention extreamly anticlimactic. I even cheated using my Game Shark, but it didn't even work! Basicly, as suggested by my title, rent it first, and if you like it, you'll probably stay that way. I disliked it from the beginning, and I've been pretty consistant.

The one plus in this game is the cinamatics. They're better quality than they were on TV, and it also saves them in a file, so you can rewatch them at your leasure (something I REALLY wish Final Fantasy would do).

Bottom line, this could be a good game to the right person, but I certainly don't care for it.

Stick to watching the cartoon.

This game is little more than a glorified version of the cartoon with some frustrating game-play interspersed throughout. It is very true to the cartoon in style and with the same voice acting. The only problem is that while the cartoon is entertaining, this game is not. It is a frustrating mix of jumping, punching, and trying to find the right gadget in time to knock out a lackey who keeps coming back over and over again.

If you think you might want to buy this game do yourself a favor; rent it. After that you will be glad that you saved your money.

Trust me on this one. Otherwise you will be sorely dissapointed.

Gorgeous game killed my bad control

This game makes your PS2 shine graphically but the poor controls and limited scope of action will drive you nuts. Batman will fall from catwalks so easily and miss doorways so often that you almost think he is still in training. The gameplay is okay, but you are scripted in what you can do, so this is limiting. I would say rent, but do not buy.

lack of control

this game has Great graphics!!! however It loses ALOT to control problems! Definitely RENT this before buying this! Its NOT spiderman! batman moves sluggishly and its hard to keep him on top of things at times, and unfortunately you fall and die, no bat grapple to save you OR this game!!!
