Mech combat. We've seen it in Japanese Anime, and the fact that the US military now has bids out for bipedal armor, it's growing in interest. Since I was a little kid playing with transformers and watching Robotech on Sunday morning catoons, I've been in love with the idea. Started playing Mech Warrior as a board game. Customizing mechs to pit them up in missions with friends back in grade school... going out and buying little lead figures and painting them in color schemes to make them look battle fatigued... then when I bought my fist PC and picking up Mech Warrior. It was the first time I could conceive of the concept of piloting a child hood dream. Talk about slow turning, try that game... Then I bought my Playstation, always wondering if they would come up with something for the game platforms. Visiting Six Flags Great America, I found Virtual On by Sega. Again I fell in love. I went to my local game store and they introduced me to something 100 times better... Armored Core. And if you know this history, you'll acknowledge of the trip that we took. Armored Core: Project Phantasma and Armored Core: Masters of the Arena followed suit soon after. The reason that I bought my PS2 as soon as it was released was just to be able to play the game AC2. Sad but true, I had the game before I even had my PS2... That's how much of a die hard AC fan that I am... now with Armored Core 2: Another Age.

What to be said about Armored Core 2: Another Age. Yippie!! I get to get more stuff to cause oh so much more damage to my friends.

Armored Core 2: Another Age gives you over 100 new missions and over 20 new weapons to find. I've already beaten the game but the ability to now play Vs. Missions is a great new feature. You can run into the missions with a friend in cooperative play. Games that have always added this feature have been hours of fun for my friends and I. Sure there is no arena, but I never really had fun in the arena anyway. The arena is a place where you go and hone your skills and learn to pilot the mechs. One on One AC battles is more fun when you're pitted against another player. As for the new missions that have come into this game, they're longer, harder and even when you get the ending credits... there are three more missions for you to play. And don't think that they're easy... just remember that you can build an overwieght mech after you see the credits... and for all the complaints that I have always read about a mech not being able to turn fast enough, well... learn how to pilot the AC before making a comment like that... strafe/boosting is one way to turn and hell... why even turn... you have jets that'll allow you to fly backwards and behind you for whatever is shooting you in the back... and if a bipedal mech is too slow, try purchasing some quad-pedal legs... As for those of you who compare it to Z.O.E., yeah that was a great game but way too easy... And really the only reason I bought that game was for the Metal Gear Solid 2 Demo disc. AC2 should be more of a simulator than a shoot 'em up. There's a lot more to AC2 than your everyday shoot em ups. Being able to customize your mech and to have to devise a strategy of passing the missions with whatever parts will get you through with a mission complete. As for replayability, you can go back to all of the previous missions and see what you missed. Or try to better your ending score of that mission... some missions you get new weapons for beating them faster or more efficently. And some other parts you get for blasting a box you didn't even know had something in it.

If you've never played any of the Armored Core games be prepared to be dissapointed with your skills in the beginning. Pick up AC2 before you pick this one up so that you can hone your skills . When you pick up AC2: Another Age, your playing it for more missions and the opportunity to enhace your mech for what ever becomes the sequel to this one. But once you get good at this one, you'll try and pick up the ones before it and after. I guarntee it because it's that good.

This game is amazing! I've only played it for a few hours and I'm addicted! There's seemingly no end to the missions and the weaponry! There must be hundreds of customizeble parts, each one different and useful in it's own way! Gattling guns to take care of multiple or quick targets, Giant rifles to take care of slow, tough ones, and big missles just for fun! Coupled with great graphics and 4 multiplayer modes, this game has thousands upon thousands of possibilities! Armored Core 2: Another Age is a must-have, even for those who have never played Armored Core (like me!)

Armored core 2:Another age, Said to have over 100 missions (plan long gaming days, don't forget the bring sodas and pizzas), new parts and weapons (expect to see your old AC from Armored Core 2 to undergo a new look. If you got a copy of Armored Core 2). A must for the mecha fan (Well thats what I call them, mecha instead of mech). I plan to buy this because I got addicted to the Armored Core series and love Mecha fighting. . . P.S. If you want the human plus abilites, and overweight override, get Armored Core 2 and a code book.

Not quite as good as the original Armored Core 2.

After playing Armored Core 2 constantly for months, I found out about the second game in the series for PS2. Armored Core 2: Another Age is basically an expansion to Armored Core 2. It has around 100 missions. I'm not sure how many exactly because I haven't beaten it yet. The missions are even more diverse than on the first game. You are required to save fortresses, attack airborne transports, and even assassinate other Ravens. The AI is much better too. Although that may seem all good, it's not. It gets somewhat annoying having to do missions after mission after mission. The arena is completely gone. The only remnant is a mission where you have a somewhat friendly fight with another Raven. The mission replay value is zero. There are no hidden parts to go back and find. You get them by simply finishing a certain mission. Don't expect too much in the way of new parts though. I've gotten about ten and I'm at 91% completeion. About half of them are variants of other parts(i.e. lightweight chaingun and lightweight grenade launcher). Some missions can be extremely difficult. A later assignment forces you to assassinate a Raven and two of his buddies for selling secrets. You get the pleasure of getting the crap kicked out of your AC from three directions at once. They rarely split up and are hard to kill. You will most likely run out of ammunition before you win. The graphics in the game look the same as in the first one which was slightly disappointing. Not that the graphics were bad, but they should have been improved. The only improvements are the versus mission where you play missions against your friends and online play. You get to control your mech with the left analog stick but I think it's too sensitive to target well. It's a good game but only recommended for dedicated Armored Core fans.

This is going to be a great expansion game with 100 New Missions and Powerful New Weapons to build up your AC!!!! Armored Core 2 is lots of fun to play (I got the game over 2 months ago and still play it daily). Armored Core 2 lets you build your AC the way you want limited by the money you earned and weight rating of your AC. You can fight the AI ACs in the arena, go on missions and best of all go head-to-head in the split screen 2-player death matches. If you enjoyed Armored Core 2 then this game will be a MUST BUY!

If you dont like games that have a laerning curve of more than an hour, and dont use the newest control system, its your problem. Also, Armored Core 2: ANOTHER AGE does use the Analog control system, and can turn a lot faster, for people who CANT TELL THE DIFFERENCE between two different game titles! The only real problem that Armored Core 2 has is it doesnt use Analog, so your turning speed is too slow if u get attacked from behind. Guess what? You can turn around faster if u strafe and turn, and your enemy usually misses when u do that. You just have to deal. If you think about it, dont u realize that if your mech was real, it wouldnt be able to turn around on a dime! Another way to turn around fast is to jump in the air and turn while your jumping! In every other way, Armored Core 2 is almost prefect! And i have no idea what u mean when u say the combat isnt very good? Try actually getting used to this game and designing a better mech first!

In Armored Core 2 ,the newest addition to the Armored Core series, you go head-to-head in relentless battles using an endless combination of parts. You can select from the collection of parts and armaments to customize your machine. Choose equipment from 14 different categories to make your own personal weapon of destruction.

* Customize your own Armored Core.

* Use 3 new parts functions: Extension An extension is a turret point that gas been added to the exterior of the Armored Core on both sides. It is designed to accommodate propulsion devices and assist in the machines high-speed mobility. Radiator This new feature is used to cool the Armored Core, which can overheat when subjected to harsh weather conditions, enemy attacks or prolonged use of the booster. Interior Enables an Armored Core to carry even more weapons. These new weapons will be similar to those normally equipped on an Armored Cores arms or shoulders.

For the Corporations, soldiers were nothing but expendable tools in the battlefields, and were held in low regard by society. However, the members of the Ravens, though they were soldiers as well, were guaranteed freedom and independence.

They were admired and respected by all other soldiers. For those who fled the Earths extremely poor underground cities and were barely surviving as soldiers, becoming a Raven represented the highest status and admiration they could acquire.

And so a new soldier aspires to become a member of the famed Ravens. Think you are good enough? Time to find out.

Armored core 2 Another age is great but a few warnings first... there is no arena so for fans of the arena its not going to be easy to tolerate (but there is a mission similar to an arena). I love the game mostly because of the 100+ missions and about 20 more parts than in regular AC2. Also because of the vs. missions those are fun, 2 players can either compete or join forces to play a mission i think it makes up for no arena. so if your a real AC fan this game is for you but if your not...start with a lower version like regular AC2. hope i helped!

This one got me hooked...

I own 4 of the 8 Armored Core games. I have beaten 5 of them, and I have played 7 of them. Out of all of them, this one is still my favorite. Although this was not the first Armored Core I played, it was the one that got me hooked on the series. In my opinion, this one has the best combination of features, parts and missions out of the entire AC series. If you are into the action of the game, or if you haven't played any of them, but are considering getting into it, get this game first. Because while the other games may have more integral parts of the story, and a large insider following, this is the game that outsiders tend to find the most appealing. And once you get into it, you'll want to play the rest of the series too.

This game is challenging, but has a forgiving learning curve as well as an extremely high replay value. I beat this game years ago and I still play it from time to time.

The best PS2 game

Yea, I have GT3, GTA3, and even the mighty DMC. But while GT3 has depth it's not a lot of fun. GTA3 is fun but repetative. DMC is close, but doesn't have the length. This game has it ALL. It's exciting, diverse, and very long with plenty of replay value. I beat the first AC2 and was able to start with all the weapons from the 1st title so this was even more fun! The soundtrack though fairly bland really helps create a futuristic atmosphere and the graphics are also refined, even allowing for use of the elusive analog stick (finally!).
A breif example of this games greatness: I started a level in which I couldn't even beat 1/3 of it, but with the right parts and some patience I actually beat the whole level in time, and with nearly 5,000 life units remaining. If you don't want to "think", I think you should try another game.
