Twisted Metal 4 is the second worst in the Twisted metal seris. Its is behind Twisted 2 and 3. The level design is not very exciting and the car physics are not realistic. The characters are poorly made and thought up of and Sweettooth is amazing good. (He over throws Calypso) Some cool things are that you can play as Calypso. He drives a Soviet nuclear missile thing that lets you shoot a nuke as your special. This game is not worth [the money] though you should buy a used one .....

989 learned a few things from the last Twisted Metal (like not having your car flip over for 5 seconds at the drop of a hat) but not a whole lot was learned. This game just isn't that cool, it seemed a little shallow to me and not very original. It's pretty much the same game as the last, with a few exceptions, like creating your own car; which I didn't find all that thrilling. The control is a lot better in this one than it was in #3 but still feels a little awkward. The weapons are mostly lame and just reused from the last games and the new ones aren't that much fun. A few of the special weapons are useless to and require to much planning to get right, and that's really something you have time to do in a game like this, plus some of the bosses special weapons are plain annoying. And another thing, Rob Zombie, enough of this in video games, the soundtrack just made me mad, but I know that's one thing that will sell this game, I just can't take it. And most of the character endings are stupid and confusing. On the plus side this game is pretty fun to play for a little while, and the graphics are pretty nice, and some of the characters are kind of funny. That isn't enough to want to buy this game though, #2 is still the best.

The game is pretty fun in the single player mode and the 2 player mode. The buttons are a little different from TM2, I haven't played TM3, so I don't know if the buttons are different from that one. Takes a little while to get the hang of, but once you do I would say it is a good game. The car control is a little loose, not as tight as in TM2. Also, the 4 player mode is useless. The display is drastically different from the single and 2 player mode, the radar is basically useless, and the screen is so small you really can't tell what's going on. If you are considering this game for it's 4 player mode, I would definetely pass.

I could go on for hours explaining Twisted Metal 4, my favorite Playstation game made. So I think I will!
The first level is in an open area. The most open and noticable destination [spot] is a crane area... You go inside the tiny crane controls and it shows up a high view of the level 1. You can see everything from a bird's eye view and turn around. The best thing and point of it is being able to see a passing car pick it up with the crane, and drop it in the fire, reducing their live severely. Another level is in a room, except normally a car can't fit in a room, but the level's pretty big! Pick up mines - (it's fun to drop a whole bunch and hide in a hiding area! To get to you, they have to PAY! Oh yeah, there's also lightning! Another level is nothing but roads, and it's pretty darn tight! Blast certain areas to get weapons. There's a tiny two-way path and a lightning in it. Unfortunately, you don't stay in there to be safe and blast the whole level! You have to get someone in that tiny two-way path and get out quick to zap 'em, so it takes longer and you don't destroy as much enemies. Another level, which actually might be one of my favorites, is Level 2. You're driving in a dark city and this level includes a tunnel (watch out for the trains:) When you get to the top of the building, you can be picked up by some crane thing and it'll literally pick you right up and take you to the top of another building. You can get lots of weapons including lightning (this is the big one:) and this flinger thing (you can also find one of those on the ground).
I highly reccomend buying the best, Twisted Metal 4!!!

I am a fan of Car Combat games and I was very mad when I got my hands on TM3. It was a complete waste of money. So I hoped that 989 would do alot of work to improve TM4. I was wrong. TM4 still has bad control and the characters aren't that great, however you can use Rob Zombie. All of the original characters are slowly dissappearing.
If you are looking for a fun car combat game try to find a copy of TM2. Or you could also try Vigilante 8 or Vigilante 8: 2nd Offence.
