Forget Goldeneye, because Syphon Filter runs circles around it. It takes the best elements of goldeneye and gets rid of the bad ones, I.E. the repetative gameplay and lack of puzzle solving. This game rocks!

I've had this game for about a year now and I still like to just start playing through my favorite parts. This game is like most adventure games but it combines aspects from the best in the genre and offer something great. The fluid response to controls and the cool rush that fills the player as they are pinned down in a close-quarters gunfight leaves little to complain about. This is a great game and an essential to any game collection.

Some people think that this is a Metal Gear Solid ripoff! No I don't think so because they were being made at the same time. Unless they sent the real Gabe Logan to infiltrate Konami and learn about the METAL GEAR PROJECT. Or, they sent Solid Snake to infiltrate 989 studios and learn about the SYPHON FILTER PROJECT. I don't know who would win in a fight between Gabe Logan and Solid Snake, who is actually "Dave". Gabe has body armor which makes sense that he can take some hits. But, Snake takes 30 hits before he dies. The guards in Syphon Filter go from low trained guys with 9mms to smart guys with body armor and full automatics. The stealth in Syphon Filter is smarter too. In Metal Gear, the guards see only three feet which makes stealth as easy as staying out of a blue cone on your oversized radar. Syphon Filter stealth requires crouching low to sneak on a guy and shoot his head. I believe that Syphon Filter Surpasses Goldeneye. Gabe has many famous things never seen before in a shooter. Running in one direction and shooting in another, the cool tazer that fries guards, an arsenal of awesome weapons, and the cool roll to dodge gunfire. Gabe can also climb on objects which is unheard of in shooters and stealth games. Sometimes though, you can get stuck in a spot of the game when you don't know how high Gabe can jump to climb on something. He doesn't jump as ridiculously high as Lara Croft, which is a plus. I like a game for realism, and in Syphon Filter I get that. Back to climbing, either Gabe really needs to be in the NBA for a seven foot vertical jump, or the makers don't realize that people just don't jump that high. Unless they are over-trained Agency operatives. The plot can be confusing at times, like when your commander ends up trying to kill you. Gabe finds out in Syphon Filter 2 that the Agency that he works for is actually the bad guys all along. The bosses are cool ranging from Flack-Jacketed guys with superior AI to Full armored flamethrower dudes. The last guy can't be killed by explosives or bullets because of superior armor and you have to kill him with gas. Some points in the game are strenuous and tedious, but you just have to kill the guys for fun. After playing it all the way through, I realized why it made the greatest hits list. Buy it and get the sequel!

Syphon Filter is the best playstation game ever made. It's intense fast paced and has something for almost everyone. I would say it's even better then the second game, I play some levels over and over. If you like shoot'em ups and can stand a little blood this is a must. I rented this game and after returning it, I went back to Tomorrow Never Dies. It was like going back to a Neon after driving a Porch.

This game is great I mean it's the best. The guns are great for example a 45, HK-5, G-18, BIZ-2, combat shotgun and my favorite a K3G4. Graphics are great I mean it's cool to be able to roll and get to your knees then shoot the guy in front of you. I also like that you can fight with CBDC agents and other agents but I don't like that if you kill a CBDC agent you fail the level. I think that the stelth levels like rhoemers base rock and the shoot and run levels are cool to. some levels take forever like pharcom warehouse. I still like this game and think that it's well worth any gamers collection.

This game has everything you want missions, objectives, perimeters that cannot be breeched. There is a mission which includes you using your silencer to get to a position or the alarms will sound and you must begin again. Non-stop fun, non-stop thrill and sometime non-stop frustration, but I believe every mission can be completed with patience, not with a cheat book. Played it four times and completed four times a little differently. Great game. Go Gabe go.

This is one of the best games I have ever played. The targeting system is almost perfect, and the levels are long and challenging. The game uses the lighting, especially darkness, to hide switches that can solve puzzles. The game is different from other shooters, however, because it combines platforming and puzzle elements into a third-person-shoot-em-up to make the game of 1999. Somebody please try to get a law passes that requires people to own this game. It's just about perfect.

No game on ps one or any system can touch the awesome SYPHON FILTER.I mean man this game is cool in all ways.I first bought this game in late Feb. 99' and I have to say this is the best game I ever played in my life I mean I still play it today in the first have of 2001.I first played Syphon Filter on a demo I recieved in the mail about 2 years ago.The demo is the reason I bought this game, if I wouldn't of got the demo off luck, who knows I propably would not have played the best game that arrived on ps one as a sleeper hit.Any way just buy this game the title of it may not attract you but if you buy it, I bet you will get your money's worth.I PROMISE.

This is the game of all games. For anybody who likes a GOOD challenge like I do, you should invest in this. It took me about 20 hours of saved progress but it was worth every minute. This falls into the category of very good. I loved the missions, and the weapons, but the best for me is figuring out the puzzels (levels) them selves. The game is kind of like all Army men games, or Tomb Raider, Spec Ops, and so on. This is not for the young mind that does not like to think, but for the young adult to adult that likes a good puzzel. Buy it, rent it, borrow it from a friend. You will not regret it.

This is the best game I've ever played. It has cool fast-paced action, great animation and alot of big guns. It's hard, but that's why it's good. I expect it to be challenging. This game is appropriate for kids, teens and adults who like fast-paced action, alot of cool weapons and great graphics. A highly recommended nonstop action game.
