Where it all started....

This game... what can't I say about this game: great graphics (for the time), suspense, moments of surprise and terror, and the best storyline in videogame history. Resident Evil is responsible for starting the videogame genre now known as Survival Horror. This game was truly revolutionary when it arrived on the Playstation in 1996. The set 2-Dimensional backgrounds with 3-D characters were the first of their kind. For the game itself you get to play as either male lead Chris Redfield (brother of Claire from Resident Evil 2) or the female lead Jill Valentine. Both have branching storylines that are quite different and challenging. Most people assume this game to be a shoot 'em up, but couldn't be farther from the truth. Ammo conservation, puzzle solving, and quick reactions are necessary to get to the heart of the resident evil that presides in a mansion that is literally overrun with genetically mutated monster. I gave this game 5 stars because the rating system asked "How much fun is this game?" I would have rated the game 3, but based on pure fun it deserves 5+. There are several drawbacks to buying this version of the game, though, and not the Director's Cut. The Director's Cut has 3 difficulty settings (this version has 1). In the arranged mode, the game plays with new camera angles that sometimes make seeing the zombies and monsters easier. This game is the best, but buy the Director's Cut if you want to own this title.

When I first played this game I had to press pause as I encountered the first zombie. This is one of the best games I've ever played. You encounter a lot of elements which keep you coming for more. The story line is great and keeps you at the edge of your seat. I've sold most of my games for my playstation as a result of obtaining PS2. I will never sell this game. As Triple H says. "It's That Dam Good." Watch out for the Attack Dogs, they have good AI. In fact every zombie and creatures have good AI. Remember if you play the entire game, you'll be rewarded greatly.

The first of the best.

Welcome to the first adventure of one of Capcoms best series games. You are Jill Valentine, a stars member and you are trying to investigate some strange dissapearances in Raccoon City. You can play as Jill or Chris Redfield. You start in the game by going out to the outskirts of the city and see a house, a mansion. (There is a monster chasing you outside while you investigate, thats why you enter the mansion.) Once you arrive in there you look for things around the house and notice a zombie that ate one of your pals. You kill him and go tell your friend Barry Burton what went wrong. This game is the hardest of the whole series in my opinion because there are more puzzles and more zombies that are so hard to kill with your weapons. You will go through so many rooms and so many doors and find clues and clues and clues of to whats going on. Ill only spoil one part of the game if your new to resident evil. (The mansion has a research lab in the back yard that youll find later in the game. The whole mansion and lab belongs to the bio chemical organization,Umbrella). I promise though that you will enjoy this game.

This game is something amazing. You can't say anything about it. Zombies are living in the house, and you can't get out of it, there are a lot of creatures living in the house, but you can't get out from this nightmare. Is the best on the series, FEAR is the perfect word for this gamee, if suspense doesn't kill you, something else will...

Resident Evil is a mixed blend of action, role-playing, and horror. Imagine playing a horror movie, or even better, your scariest nightmare in a video game. Imagine playing a game that is so scary, you can't sleep at night without thinking about it. That's Resident Evil. This is one of those games that needs to be placed in the Hall of Fame. This is truly a classic!

This is a great game! Good story line and great graphics for a PS game. Controls are a little hard to get used to though. This is one of the hardest Resident Evil games out and it is very challenging. I recommend it to your collection!

i think resident evil is the best. it is the first re i have ever played. i have almost beat it but im still kinda far from it. i also have re 3 which is pretty cool(jill also looks fine in this game) so if you like killing zombies and mutated dogs and things of that sort than you will really truly love this game. at first the controls are kinda hard but after a short while you will get used to it. it isn't that scary which is a downfall but still the best to me. i am trying to get a gamecube so i can play the remixed version. i would get it if i were you but it is hard to find so i suggest getting it from amazon.
