I own all of the Resident Evil series on all the systems and have beaten all of them. However the first Resident Evil is still one of the funnest and most difficult ones to play.I really suggest buying this game and purchasing all of the RE games.I would buy a gamecube because all of the RE series are coming out on it as well as two new ones,Iv already got mine. This game will have u up all night and u will be having fun and being scared to death at the same time.

A series of gory attacks in the area surrounding a remote biotech lab brings in S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Squad) to investigate. On arrival, Bravo Team communications are abruptly cut off. Now it's up to your Team. You arrive at the isolated mansion under-powered and on the run. Arm yourself with anything you can find: knives, pistols, shotguns, flame-throwers - search for hidden rounds to stay alive! There are puzzles to solve, traps to disarm and mysteries to uncover while trying to avoid a blood-bath with the freaks of nature that populate the mansion. Each lurking horror you survive will bring you closer to the source of the Resident Evil.

i think resident evil is the best. it is the first re i have ever played. i have almost beat it but im still kinda far from it. i also have re 3 which is pretty cool(jill also looks fine in this game) so if you like killing zombies and mutated dogs and things of that sort than you will really truly love this game. at first the controls are kinda hard but after a short while you will get used to it. it isn't that scary which is a downfall but still the best to me. i am trying to get a gamecube so i can play the remixed version. i would get it if i were you but it is hard to find so i suggest getting it from amazon.
the best game!!!!!!

Resident Evil is the game that brought survival horror to the masses. Although the game is very much dated (especially after the release of a remake for the Gamecube) by today's standerds, it is still a ton of fun to play and get lost in for hours at a time. While playing it now, many people experience a "so what?" sort of feeling twards the game, but you have to remember that when the game was released, the things featured in the game were all new. The game now is hard to find and hardly played, with a gamecube remake of it out (which improves on this game in EVERY way) this game is important, because, while it wasn't the first survival horror game released, it was certianly the game that redifined the genre, and paved the road for the Silent Hills and Fatal Frams that we all enjoy today.Old school scares at their best...
Best game--will remain a classic

perhaps the founder of the survival horror genre, Resident Evil is a classic that spun off an entire series of wit, zombies, and survival. In my opinion it is the best of all.
the graphics are poor by today's standards, i'll admit that. Of course, this was made in 1996-98(i forget which year). The game uses 2D pre-rendered images with 3D characters and monsters, and uses cheesy violence, shooting, and voice acting, but just remember this game is a playstation 1 game...we've already reached a high deff ps3.
the story revolves around cannabolistic homicides occurring in the small mid-western Raccoon City. When one team of police officers vanishes during investigation, another goes into the woods searching for them, only to find a crashed helicopter and a hoard of mutant dogs, who chase them. The group seeks refuge in an empty mansion, which is discovered to be infested with the living dead. Here, the player must use ammo and weapons around them to keep themselves alive and escape from the mansion.
The classic gameplay and amazing story led to a whole franchise of sequels, movies(unrelated to the series' main plot but good to its own merit), and even novels (which i highly reccommend for RE fans). The game that started all survival horror...i give you Resident Evil.
