When I rented this game from my local video store, I was hoping for a game that would scare the pants off of me. Although it didn't succeed in that area, this is a great game nonetheless. This game stands out from the rest of the horror genre and most other games because of its gameplay, graphics, and gore. After finishing the first level, which was basically walking along a path and blowing the crap out of velociraptors, I thought that I had figured out the gist of everything. Kill the dinos and live. But this game has you finding keys to unlock doors, retracing your steps, and using strategy to conserve ammunition of health. Of course, you do have to shoot a lot of dinosaurs. The graphics are some of the best I've ever seen. The framerate is smooth and the foliage is magnificent. I still watch the first cut scene just to look at the plants and try to decide if they're real or just animated. And the gore. Upon seeing the first movie after staring a new game, you can tell that this is a game that lets it all out. You are going to see dinosaurs get ripped apart in glorious fashion and you die in so many different ways it would make your head swim if I told you about them. There are a large variety of dinosaurs and areas you get to fight them in, which is nice. The extinction point system of earning points for kills and spending them on new items that will help you along the way is ingenious. It goes along perfectly with the style of gameplay. This game is an excellent addition to anyone's video game library.

Dino Crisis was a great game in its time back when Resident Evil 3 was out. Now Capcom has released Dino Crisis 2! I like how in Dino Crisis Two you can hold you weapon out, ready to shoot while running or walking! That is very convienant for getting those combos in killing the dinos. Also I also like the idea of extinction points you recive you killing the dinos and bonus points for no damage, then you can us e them to by medkits, weapons, tools and essenital items proceed in the game. Each charector has their own set of weapons and tools, like the homing missiles for Regina and a powerful anti tank rifle for Dylan. The T-rex is back for some more bone crushing action, plus there is rumored to be an even bigger dinosaur than the T-Rex! Dino Crisis 2 is a non stop, dinosaur blasting action game. The dinos jump out of nowhere to get you and respawn at different places.
If you are a fan of Resident Evil or Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2 will not dissapoint you! It even has an Area game where you can buy Dinos at the end of the game and go head to head with your friends with your Favorite Dinosarus!

I recently purchased Dino Crisis 2 and beat it. My official judgement for the game is simple, it is a must have. I gave it five stars. Graphics are excelent, plotline is good but a times will make you turn heads. A great game all around.
You control two dynamic characters, Dylan Morton a TRAT special task force member with a confusing role. Regina returns for this mission. If you are into games where things just jump out at you unexpectedly, Dino Crisis 2 is the game for you, because it is packed with much heart-pounding action and intensity. Within thirty minutes of play, I had already blasted about twenty maybe thirty dinos and came in contact with about four species.
I hope I was able to help you in your decision to buy this outstanding game.
Better Than The First!!!Lacks Alot Of Scares Though.....

As far as Im concerned this is way way better than the first Even though this is not a survival-horror (I dont see how it could be). This game would fit in the action/adventure. You get lotz of sweet weapons like the 9MM,Heavy Machine Gun,Shotgun, and the cool Rocket Launcher and(my personal favorite) the almighty Anti Tank Rifle.Ragina also gets a preety awesome missle pod. There are way more dinosaures than you can shake a leg at. On every screen there has to be atleast 2 dinos if not 3 or 4. There are about 20 dinos on here for every single dino on dino crisis 1. There are also lots of different dinos like the swimming thingers that live in the water, the Flying thingers, Ovi Raptors,Allasaures and of course the main dinos the Raptors. Even our old buddy the T-Rex is back and there is an even LARGER dino that the T-Rex fears. Every time you kill a dino you get points called extinct points that you can use to buy tools, gunns, ammo and recovery items. The replay value is great because after you beat the game you get the extra crisis mode where you get to buy dinos and battle them with a friend and every time you beat the game you get a new dino. There is also anouther mode you unlock called the dino colliseum.I recommend this game to everyone, though some of the horror-survival lovers will be a bit dissapointed...Buy it!!!!
An action game to follow up the SH opener

We all thought that Resident Evil: Nemesis was really as good as it gets for the survival horror series, the pre-renders, the character detail, and even the CGs were beautiful. Dino Crisis 2 takes all of that and makes it better. As usual just like any survival horror game, DC2 uses the pre-rendered backgrounds instead of real-time environments. The pre-renders look just slightly better than any RE game out there, and improving upon pre-renders is a pretty tough task. The I haven't seen many CGs, but the intro CG isn't as clean as those found in Nemesis. Though when I first took a glance at Dino Crisis 2, I noticed that the character detail was significantly improved. The body structures are far smoother than any game out there right now, the hands, legs and the head are all jointed to the body seamlessly. There is absolutely no polygonal clipping, everything is smoothed out properly and Capcom gave the game that little extra to please gamers like me. Dino Crisis 2 also displays three to four dinosaurs on one screen with absolutely no slow-down. The visual detail in each dinosaur is extremely realistic, I have never seen enemies as detailed as those velociraptors or that incredibly huge one-eyed Tyrannosaurus Rex, folks mark my words these are the best visuals of all the survival horror games (excluding Code Veronica). Overall I am deeply impressed with the graphics that DC2 boasts, this is without a doubt one of the best looking PS games of the year.
DC2 is survival horror but not exactly. What do I mean? Dino Crisis 2 takes the Resident Evil formula, throws it into the blender along with some new elements to create a game that feels like a whole new experience. Instead of the walking around picking up bullets, new guns and what ever, you now buy them! Yes buy them, but not exactly with money, you use your Extinction Points which are picked up by killing dinosaurs. Smaller dinos are worth anywhere from 100-600 points and at times more. The larger dinosaurs will grant you 2500+ points for your shopping needs. You buy equipment, med-kits, and back-up weapons from a computer like gismo which can be found slapped on walls. Accessing this little computer, will open up a menu that will ask you to Save or Shop. When you shop you can even upgrade your current weapon by adding more ammo to it by buying a new cartridge that can hold more bullets or flame power. If you are running low on ammo then you can also stop by one of the computerized shops to charge your weapon back to full power. Another new feature added in Dino Crisis 2 is the Combo System. The Combo System works like this; when you kill a dinosaur and then kill another one while the point score number is still showing then you will get a combo for that. If you have multiple enemies on the screen then use something that will hit at least two enemies at once, or just try to kill enemies as fast as possible. Every time you enter a new door your statistics and final score will show for what you had for that particular area, and if you are skilled enough and don't get harmed once you can earn an extra 2000 points.
Dino Crisis 2 starts out with what may be the best intro video that a game has seen, I won't get into it, I want to leave that for you to see. You start out as Regina and Dylan, the two main characters of the game. They arrive at the jungle via time-machine only to find out that the amount of dinos that inhabit in their is far too much for the troops to take care of. After some awesome sequences, the game sets you up as Dylan, a T.R.A.T trooper who is equipped with a blade that can be used for slashing away vines that have grown on a locked door. Dylan's main weapon is a shotgun with 200 bullets of ammo. As you walk around the game will waste no time throwing velociraptors at you, they will surround you so you better use the R2 button [to do a 180 degree spin] effectively. After Regina will take over because of an emergency that happens just a few minutes after you pick up the control of Dylan. She is equipped with a Handgun and a Stun Gun that can be used to zap electronically locked doors so they would open. A map is another inclusion that can be used to our advantage, blue marks mean open doors, red marks mean closed doors and an "S" stands for a shop. The map will pin-point your location and really help you out throughout the game, this is a very useful feature. Dino Crisis 2 can only be described as the best survival horror game that Capcom or any other company has made, and yes that is including Resident Evil: Code Veronica, it's that good!
The voice acting between RE1 and RE2 was a dramatic leap in both timing and quality, and the same can be said for Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2. The voice acting is superb, with excellent quality, voice comprehension and best of all near perfect timing. The screaming of the dinosaurs is the one thing that makes the sound such a killer (sorry about the pun), the T-Rex will scream so loud that it will actually move you backward. Background music also accompanies you when you are battling of dinosaurs, and best of all you can hear the dinos in the bushes as they are trying to attack you.
Controlling your characters is exactly like Resident Evil games. Nothing can be really said about the control except that you can side-step and do a few new things.
This game is awesome, it is highly recommended in every department

First of all, Dino Crisis 2 is a excellent game!
I just recently played through Dino Crisis 2 and found it to be a very enjoyable fast paced action game. This time they got the fight system down pat which makes for a very terrific game.
The STORY is very eloborate and somewhat confusing if you are new to the Dino Crisis games. However several websites can help you understand basically what is going on within this game if you find yourself rushing thru the game not paying attention to the story. Basically Regina and a whole squad of men are sent thru time to rescue survivors of a failed 3rd Energy Experiment. However one you set up base camp, you are attacked by a whole bunch of Raptors and a T-Rex and Regina, Dylan and David are the only ones left. Now it is up to you to rescue any survivors and gather any information on the 3rd Energy project. I won't give any more information on the game that might spoil any surprises, but I will tell you that you do go up against a dinosaur that is bigger than a T-Rex!
The GAMEPLAY is very intense and fast paced. The dinosaurs attack very quickly and with a intelligence that is disturbing. You don't fight any dumb dino's here, they gang up on you, follow you thru different screens and sometimes even dodge your gun blasts. I have to give a standing ovation to the enemy AI in the game because it was very well programmed. But don't worry, you will get a chance to blast dino's with a variety of weapons. Some of the interesting weapons you will find are the Heavy AR-15 machine gun, the Anti-tank machine gun, flamethrowers and different support weapons. It is a very well balanced game that does not bog you down with any difficult puzzles, which keeps the action very fast paced. One very scene I trully enjoyed was the underwater scene with Regina as she fights her way around a cooling reactor in a diving suit underwater. The entire look of the scene is truly awsome!
The GRAPHICS is what to be expected for the limited confines of Sony Playstation. But the CGI movies are very well done and I personally favor the pre-rendered backgrounds with Playstation games. Overall the graphics are very well done in GGI and regular gameplay. It is confirmed that this game will be made for PS2 with all the enhancements, and then it will look truly awsome.
Overall It is hard to touch base on all the aspects of Dino Crisis 2 in this review. If you were any level of fan from Dino Crisis, and you loved Resident Evil, 2 and 3, then you will more than likely praise Dino Crisis 2. The only flaw I found with this game and the reason I gave it 4 stars was because it is by my standards, too short! This game could have been a lot longer. I guess I am used to games like Resident Evil 2 where you have 4 separate games in one. Dino Crisis 2 is not a lengthy game and even on the Hard mode it goes by very quick. Please NOTE that if you are a veteran of the Resident Evil games, do not play this game on Normal or easy or you will get bored very quickly and breeze thru the game and feel like you have been robbed. Play the game on hard level. When you play on Hard level, the only things that are changed are you can only carry half the amount of recovery packs and the weapons are twice as expensive, but it is worth it! Hurry up and click to buy this game, you won't be dissappointed and I will see you all again to review Dino Crisis 3...hint...hint.
A good find

Dino Crisis 2 picks up a year after Dino Crisis. There are all new characters, and of course Regina from the old game. You are playing as Dylan and Regina, who seem to be sent as mercenaries to rescue the survivors of the Third Energy incident, and they also have to find information on the Third Energy project; but they soon realize that they'll have to fight for survival as well. Instead of being like the traditional Capcom Horror Survival, it's more of a Adventure title, they've also turned it into a combat game. There are bosses, mini bosses, and the more you go head to head with the dinos, the better score you will have. You also need to pick up Extiction Points (these are from killing the dinosaurs) to gain ammo and other supplies through the game. Another objective is to find all 11 Dino Files, which are each placed somewhere throughout the game. It's not scary and doesn't make you sit on the edge of your seat like the Resident Evil series and the first Dino Crisis. The graphics are very nicely done, the movies are improved, the sound is better, and the story line is definately interesting down to the suprising end. A good video game, you may not want to buy it, but it is a very good one to rent.

Dino Crisis, the original, was an o.k. Resident Evil style game with dino's thrown in for fun.
Well, Dino Crisis 2 breaks the mold of the Resident Evil game play style and implements a tremendously addicting new way to kill dino's! More of an arcade tomb raider shooter, DC2 really brings home the feeling of "walking with dinosaur's". There are more than 10 different types of dino's, most of them very familiar (some are from Jurassic Park).
Game play is very easy (I've only played the normal difficulty so far), yet extremely entertaining. Each dead dinosaur is worth a number of "points". Kill a few dino's in a row and build up combo points. Kill a dino when it's attacking and receive a counter multiplier. All the points you collect are used to buy better weapons, ammo, tools, and health items. Since your able to hold two weapons at a time in DC2, getting better weapons with more points is a very important part of the game.
Overall, DC2 is far better than the original Dino Crisis, yet creates a new type of survival horror, "Blast-A-Dino" Horror.

First of all i want to say that you should not buy this game because it only took me about 6 hours to beat. Rent it instead. also, this is not a game that will scare you like the first dino crisis. but thats only because you now there is going to be a dinosaure near buy. Now that the bad stuff is out of the way, let me tell you how good it is. The game play is fast with very little slow downs. the graphice are great and the sound goes really well with the game. yes it is incredibly easy but it is extremly fun. after a while you start to want the rapters to come at you so you can shoot them to kingdom come. you cant deny the exileration you get from charging a dinosaure with a shotgun. The only reason the game doesnt get a perfist score is because of the lack of special features that would want to make you play through the game more then once.
Mind blowing! DC2 makes Capcom a force to be reckoned with

I don't have time to make an account, so this is filed under 13, but I've been around as long as Capcom has. I've always been an absolute die-hard fan of Capcom, namely their signature Resident Evil series, and I still am to this day. When I first heard about Dino Crisis, I had to pick it up, knowing that Capcom was the publisher of the game. I must say, DC1 kept me very entertained with its multiple endings, mind-numbing puzzles, and tough enemies. Basically, DC1 was your average Resident Evil game, with dinosaurs rather than zombies, and a crap load of extra puzzles. Overall, I loved the first Dino Crisis, but it was still missing something.
For one thing, there were too many puzzles and not enough action. The puzzles were challenging and addicting, but it gets annoying to have to memorize five different codes to unlock doors, or patterns to solve puzzles, etc. It's fun the first few times around, but it quickly gets very tedious, and you'll soon realize that the game just simply doesn't have enough to offer in terms of sheer action.
Enter Dino Crisis 2, Capcom's second take on their new series. Only one word can be used to describe the level of action that this game has to offer: EXPLOSIVE!!! Seriously, I was absolutely blown away by how much action that this game brought to the survival horror world. DC2 really breaks away from its predecessor in almost every way. To begin, there are almost NO puzzles whatsoever throughout the entire game, so you can concentrate more on the action rather than worry about memorizing numbers. There is also a significantly LARGER selection of weapons in the second game. From shotguns, to flamethrowers, to automatics, to rocket launchers, this game will keep you entertained with its unique arsenal.
However, the weapon system is altered in this game as well, as you don't find weapons as you progress through the game. Instead, you are given the ability to purchase weapons from the game using the extincition points that you earn by killing dinos. I actually tend to prefer this system, because it gives you the ability of purchasing some stronger weapons from the start of the game, given that you keep running around fighting dinosaurs for points. However, you don't have all of the weapons available for purchase right from the start, more of them become available as you progress further into the game.
And the graphics. WOW! Honestly, this is the best looking 3-D title that I've ever seen for the PS1. Instead of the animated backgrounds that were used in the first Dino Crisis, Capcom has switched to pre-rendered backgrounds, which make for a very realistic-looking enivronment. Hell, even the character models look significantly better than the first game's. The dinos in DC2 have very detailed character models, and the even SOUND like real dinosaurs!
And of course, as stated earlier, this game replaces all the infuriating puzzles of the first title with massive combat. You no longer have to hold the square button to run, as you do in most every survival horror title. Instead, you are given the ability to run while firing at the same time! This is a VERY useful tactic, as you will soon discover after playing the game for a brief time. You can also strafe left, right, or backaward, another useful combat tactic. In addition, you can have 2 different weapons equipped simultaneously; a main weapon, and a sub-weapon. Your main weapon is the primary gun that you will be using, while your sub-weapon is usually a knife or a close-range weapon. Sometimes sub-weapons are more useful than a main weapon, so keep that in mind as you progress through the game. For example, a knife would be more beneficial when fighting in close quarters than a shotgun.
From the first encounter with a vicious pack of Velociraptors, to the final battle with an oversized predator, Dino Crisis 2 doesn't fail to entertain. Fans of Capcom will love this game, as well as survival horror fans. Some die-hard RE fans may find the new all-out-shooting style of gameplay a negative impact on the survival horror world, but for long-time fans of action titles, Dino Crisis 2 is a trip worth taking.
