What I enjoyed the most was the story line. The game play is good but can get long and get boring at times. The very cool aspect of this game is that it teaches you the ropes with each race as it moves the storyline along. Going through the single player campaign will allow you to get familar with each race for when you want to play multiplayer with friends, which can bring hours of fun. But beware that if you have a short attention span, this is not for you, as games can sometimes last for hours.

This my most favorite computer game I have. The ghraphics are good the game play is nice and the levels are chalenging. The part I like the most about this game is bing able to play aginst other people. If you have... bucks i'd say go out and buy this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game, is very cool. Each of the three races are all extremly different and have pros/cons. Much strategy is involved for defence, destroying enemys and finding your'e way around the huge maps. Hundreds of technologies can be researched to advance youre armys power. This game defenately is a top game for strategey lovers. I loved this fun and exiting game.

old games still have merits

for over 2 years, starcraft has appealed to the average gamer. An incredibly easy game to learn, but an incredibly difficult game to master. Never the game that had anything truly original, critics denied how great the game actually was. But in a true sense, starcraft is a game for the masses. The game appeals to someone who does not want to spend hours trying to figure out the controls. The game is simple enough, but it's addictive when it comes down to playing. With an internet game playing area, I've played for 2 years, and I've never grown tired. With hundreds of venues for gaming, clans, battlereports, and just plain playing, the game never loses its appeal. That's why, despite the fact that it's old, you should buy starcraft. With not a single word concerning starcraft 2, take the fun while it lasts.

Dated by now, but a true classic

With Blizzard seeming to be well into finishing off WarCraft 3, it seems that StarCraft's days are numbered. But the fact that this game has remained so popular for such a long time (on a gaming timeline) points to the fact that it has been such a great game. There have been few games which I've played which were so well balanced and designed. Granted, compared to many of today's games it's very simple; but this kept the game clean and honest. The gameplay is still very addicting and fun and writing about it makes me want to load it up again and give it another go. If you've never had the good fortune to play this game I would whole-heartedly recommend it. It can usuall be found(along with it's expansion pack "Brood Wars") at very low prices and then you too can claim to have played a classic. :-)

One of the Best PC Games Ever

This game is simply one of the best real-time strategy games ever. The graphics in this game are great, yet not complex enough to inhibit the speed of any computer greater than 166mhz.

The gameplay is also excellent. You can play the story's campaigns alone or multiplayer with a few of your friends. There is no lag time between computers (at least the ones I've played on, and they're all 200mhz or greater) and competition can be intense.

Like the other reviewers, I have played Warcraft, and this game is much better. It's not another Warcraft (although the name might insinuate it). Some strategies may apply to both games, but Starcraft is easier to learn and more fun to play alone.

Starcraft vs. Warcraft? Starcraft, hands down.

Starcraft is the best Real Time Strategy (RTS) game I have seen. Its biggest strength is that it has three races that are significantly different. Furthermore, the game is balanced better than any other RTS game is. Every unit of every race may be useful to you at the end of the game.

The downsides of Starcraft are the graphics and the plot. The graphics are not as good as some of the similar games out there. Although the plot does go through some twists and turns, its obvious that the single player plot is not the major focus for the game designers. If you are just going to play single player or like to look at really cool graphics, some of the other RTS games may be better.

I can also think of lots of cool things that could be in Starcraft but are not. I would love to see a 3D world where the terrain affected a units vision more accurately and the distance on ranged shots. I would love to see the weather and the time of day affect battles. I also want to be able to control the formations my units move it, their aggressiveness, and how they react to my orders.

But I forgive Blizzard for not giving me every feature I want. They do not have infinite amounts of time and people. And features can easily detract from the overall gaming experience. They have enough features to make the game interesting, while not so many features to make it a burden to play.

If you like multiplayer strategy games, then buy Starcraft. It will definately be worth the money. I am still playing Starcraft years after I bought it.

...i still have more to add!in the campaign editor you can make different cooler maps than just regular battle and i saw things like pokemon maps and Bunker Wars and stuff on battle.net.I still play as much as i can and this is so addictive i can play for as many as 7 hours in one day.There are cheats if you want thenm and its simple to use them.Anyway,if you think youre good on RTS games,then go on ladder challenges and get ranks.You can even see how your rated!Well,over all,this is the best game ever made for sale even if it is like 3 years old.

You've heard the hype. BELIEVE it. Incredible graphics, awesome story line, and a battle system that will never get you bored. But the real feature is Battle.net. THIS can keep me glued to the computer 24/7. I have never found anything more addictive. So do yourself a favor and buy this game. Please. Please. Please. See you on Battle.net!
