Much more than Madden

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 4 / 6
Date: November 30, 2005

This game is awesome. I've played Madden, I've played NCAA, and I've played 2k5 (best of the three.) None of them is as much fun as Blitz.

The reason I like it so much is the story...and all of the other options. There are some real RPG aspects to this game.

You buy equipment for your team, and each piece of equipment improves your team in different ways. You get to train your players to improve their stats. You get to bet on the games.

The game play is pretty good too. Some people were complaining about the AI taking off on long runs, making incredible catches, etc. etc. Well, the point to the game is that you want to STOP them.

But really, the best part of the game is the story...yes, a football game with a story. So far it's as good as Stranger's Wrath...very immersive.

Great game for people that like blood and violance

Besides the long loading time this game is da best!! But I suggest you dont get it if you do not like a lot of bad words or blood and violance.
1. The graghics are worth 5 stars.
2. The loading time is worth 3 in a half stars.
3. and the sound AND music are worth 5!

Not what I expected...

I first heard about this game when it received negative attention in the newspapers for being so violent. I then heard it was being "endorsed" by Lawrence Taylor (because once you show up in the wrestling ring, it's all downhill from there). This game was very disappointing. The storyline is AWEFUL. The cut scenes look very archaic and are, well, boring. If you play in full season mode, your objective is to win the league championship. If you do, the mayor has agreed to back a bill that has the taxpayers footing the money for the new stadium. You get to hire coaches and draft 2 whole players! By winning a game you win money. The money can be used to purchase equipment upgrades and illegal performance enhancers for your team. The drug angle seems very intriguing at first, but it's not. It's lame. I had a QB who suffered a broken forearm and I injected him with something that cost me $25,000 and he was able to play in the next game. I know, that's the point of Blitz, but this one is SO far out there I wouldn't recommend it. Honestly, 2.5 stars is what I'd really like to give it. SAVE YOUR MONEY. RENT THE GAME FIRST.

Computer too cheap to be fun

This game seemed to have good potential with good music, good and fun gameplay, and nice features like customizing your teams and players. Unfortunately, the AI in one-player mode is the cheapest I have ever seen (even with difficulty level set to easy). For example, don't expect the opposing team to need more than 20 seconds to score on you.

The opposing punt returners are evidentally he-man capable of busting through five guys consistenly to always return no less than 60 yards. When I return a punt, even with my clash turned on, I get laid out like floor tile as soon as the first guy touches me. Even worse, if I am fast enough to juke a couple time and actually get some yardage on my return, as soon as sometone hits me I fumble at least half the time.

Usually on the second or third play of the opposing team's drive they thow the most beautiful pass you've ever seen and all of the idiots on my team are no where to be found (no matter what play I call in the huddle). I swear, I have to be the one to make the tackle like 80% of the time. And if my guys are actually covering someone, a majority of the time they get pushed aside or run over like a little girl.

As for the throwing game--even when my guys are wide open they drop the ball at least half the time. Even after you upgrade your guys and buy nice gloves for them, whenever you throw to them the ball will bounch out of their hands twice, then float about ten yards over to the left, and then: interception!!! Needless to say, my running game is my only hope of ever scoring.

The play book is really skimpy too. Seriously, I have like three running moves, and one of them is an awful fake that fails every time. How many times can I use those before they start moving their entire line up to the left because that is where all my running plays go?

This game might be fun with a buddy, but playing the campaign mode against the computer is enough to bring even Lawrence Taylor to tears.

Not for the little ones

This game is awesome if you want some bone rattling, intense playing. However, even I was a little disappointed in the whole snapping the quarterback's finger in the beginning. The language puts this game well into the league of older teens and adults. The worst part of this game is how ridiculously long everything takes to load. Be prepared for an hour long ordeal, even when only playing two minute quarters. I think my only other gripe is the actual fighting in the game. I think you get to watch through plain eyes from the blimp above, everything is so small. All in all, the nonstop action during gametime and the brutal hits are great, and yeah, some have expressed the wish of having real players in the game, but they need to realize, the player's association won't back this series anymore due to the graphic nature of it, therefore, no pros. But LT was a bad dude, he'll do for now.

This game blows.....period

Don't be fooled by the advertisments that you see in almost every magazine. Blitz doens't offer the career mode that it was based around and game play itself is horrible.

The greatest inconvience of the game is the load times. They are WAY too long. Loading up your profile is an inconvience, loading up to play the game gets annoying and when you finish a game and go to save, you start to think "F*ck this". The loading time alone will kill the feeling of wanting to play.

Then there is the gameplay itself. Bone crushing hits? Please, outside of the occasional dirty hit (which is far easier for the computer to employ on you, than vice versa) the hits look like the early developments of Madden. The plays are fairly easy until you get to the 4th quater when it seems that everytime the computer magically can score 21 points no matter what defensive strategies you employ. Then there is the whole steriods issue which is laughable. Give a player some juice and he misses 3 plays.....conventionally treat him and he misses a quater. Either way, you'll never miss him.

This game is horrible, from the graphics to the load times. Save your money and go buy a game that will at least remotely capture your interest.

This game is not about football...it is novelty

This is a novelty game. It you want a football game don't buy this one. There is no strategy involved in this one. It's all about the clash mode. You just go back and forth with one play touchdowns, boring. This game is more about the claps, which involves drugs, money and women. Oh, I forgot the cuss words. The use of foul language adds to the novelty of the game but adds nothing to the sport of football. I was hoping to find a game that could be substituted for Madden, but this was nothing more than a waste of money.

best damn game you will ever play

To start off ive played all the blitz games before and Blitz;the league well... I though it was going to be better than what it was hyped up to be. If you have seen the videos for this game, the graphics look awesome. But the graphics arent as good as they look in the videos. The game takes about 2mins to load/save just for a simple thing. Theres no point for some of the cursing in this game and the clash mode is pretty cheap. If you want a fun blitz game get the blitz pro...thanks for listening

Garbage.

Can't believe I bought this one because of the hype surrounding it. I was expecting hard hits, and such. But I was also expecting atleast some decent gameplay to go with it. Everytime I see LT in the commercials claiming this is how "real football is played", I think sellout. How can a former NFL player say real football is 7 on 7, and most tackles are closelines, and dropkicks? Haven't seen that game on tv yet. Anyways, this is a really bad simulation even for an arcade style game.
