Friends don't let friends play 'Quest of the Dragon'

People have been writing reviews for this game that haven't even played it yet. Can anyone tell me why? I wish they would hold off on writing their "reviews" until they've actually played the game.

"I saw a screenshot of the game and it looked like it had people and they were fighting! SWEEEEEEET!!! 5-stars!"

Whatever. =)

Anyway, I actually have the game in my living room right now (rented, thank God), so what I've got for you is an opinion from someone who's actually played the game.

Ronin Entertainment licensed the most recognizable martial arts figure around; good for them. It probably wasn't easy and it probably wasn't cheap. Why, then, would they then proceed to develop a game that fails in every key area (graphics, sound, controls, gameplay, fun) ...Something went horribly wrong on the way to making a good game. Software publishers seem to use the shotgun approach to releasing software--get as many titles as possible can in front of the consumer and every once in a while you'll have a profitable hit that will make up for all those titles that didn't break even. If the focus would instead be on releasing fewer titles with a much higher focus on quality, everyone would win in the end.

So let's sum it up here: I see absolutely no reason why anyone should even THINK about buying this game. If you're a huge Bruce Lee fan and feel you must own the game on principle alone, do yourself a favor and DON'T! You work hard for your money--don't blow it on garbage like this!

chop, chop, chop.... too bad it's the graphics

I decided to rent this game as an effort to develop an opinion of my own. The developers had the opportunity to develop a game that would give Bruce Lee the respect he deserved, instead they chose not too. This game should have been kept in development for quite a while. The graphics are choppy, even though they don't push the xbox, the fighting animations especially. There is NO fluidity in the transition from one move to another which makes you vulnerable to cheap shots. The camara is whacky, and the fighting engine "locking" on to one character at a time is frustrating. You also fight the same three characters throughout the entire game. I love the old Bruce Lee movies, and had a lot of hope that this game was going to kick some butt. Too bad it doesn't. Don't buy this game, save yourself the [money]... bucks and go buy the Bruce Lee DVD collection instead.

This game would have been great for the Atari game system, but for what Xbox can do it sux. The graphics are cheasy. There is a water like ripple going down the screen and it's on all the copies. Also the fighting controls in the crouching position are difficult to use. Save your money or buy something else.

Worst game I've played for the box!!!

Guys, I don't know what you all are smoking, but get off of it quick. This game is horrible, from the opening cinema to the end of the game, if you even bother to suffer through the first three unispired levels of it. The controls are terrible, i could press a kick button sometimes and i wouldnt even get a response. The targeting system is wack, most of the time you'll spend sorting through targets that are 20 feet away, when you have one beating the holy bejeezus out of you right in front of your face. Which brings me to the amazingly cheap A.I. *if it can even be called intelligence* who will frustrate you to no extent by following the same cheap patterns. One behind, one in front, and while you're attempting to hit the enemy in front of you *who is usually ducking!!* the one behind is pummeling you unmercifully. When you try to turn around *which will sometimes take a couple seconds* to try defend yourself, the enemy who was doing the pummeling now runs away like a twelve year old school girl, leaving your back open for more brutal punishment from the other enemy. The graphics are ps1 worthy at best *not even dreamcast standard* doesn't even begin to tap into what xbox can do. I can't bear to even give this game a point *even though I have to give it one star, which I'm not even going to count* because I am a diehard bruce fan, and ronin games is doing nothing but tarnishing his amazing legend by releasing such a crappy, and obviously rushed game. Sorry, but I had to bring it straight and be blunt. This game doesn't even deserve a rental.

this game just bugs me. i've seen some of his movies there great but this games SUCKS! the story you don't learn until the 5th level. the dragon coins? big whoop. the whhaa sound he does every punch or kick. it gets very anyoning. get this you have to buy move! why not just have say expirence and learn with the right amount. once you are a black belt you still get beat by fat, weak, and slow guys. to sum it up, this games blows.

Despite the hype, this game was terrible. I took it back the same night I rented it. The game is a poorly constructed mockery of Bruce Lee; who is probably turning around in his grave. Rent it if you want a good laugh but God help you if you purchase it.

were they toasted when they created this game?

i have no idea where to begin. I have never in my entire life have seen such a piece of crap be passed off as a game. i got it for a birthday present because i like the old school bruce lee movies. well this game sucks balls almost as much as pulse racer. the graphics are mildly standible. the sound of his voice going, "WHAAAAAATTAAAA" bugs me as much as scratching a chalk board then hitting be in the groin with a bolwing ball. the game play would only entertain a 2 year old or a retarted kid. this game i have such a long list of complaints that i could not fit it all in this box. although some people say look at the Pros and Cons i say , "what Pros?" to sum it up all i have to say is, "SWEET JESUS! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?"

A must have for beat em up fans.

My first experience with this game I played for three hours strait. I was amazed by the visual effects, and opening cinemas. The sound effects and voice is vintage Bruce Lee. I like the fact that I can purchase items once completing an area and also by learning new Jeet Kune Do moves as the game progresses. This game is different from Final Fight the main reason being that I can move around in 3-D space and clime ladders and the wonderful point system. This game even has a training mode where I can practice my moves. Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon is two games in one an adventure that features a story mode and a fighting mode in the Arena. The game play is phenomenal and the graphics are well don I can't see this game looking the same way on any platform especially built in Dolby 5:1 support and HDTV compatible. And I own X-Box and Playstation 2. The only gripe I have with this game is that some scenes suffer from slow down, but it doesn't take away the enjoyment.

repeat after me KUNG FU BRAWLER

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3

First of all this game is made to look and sound like an old Kung Fu movie. That is why there is such bad voice-acting. That is also the reason for the strange camera angles. Next, people have been saying there are only 4 or 5 combos you can do, I guess thats because they haven't played training mode which allows you to do all of the moves you have to buy in the game. There are over 100 moves and you can do combos with most of them. I have also heard people saying its bad because its like Final Fight and Streets of Rage. This game is suposed to be like those games because it is a brawler and so are they. So to sum it all up if you like Kung Fu movies and Brawlers this game is for you. If you like one of the two you might want to rent it before you buy it. I give this game 4.5 stars but you cant so I'm giving 5 instead of 4 to help its overal rating.

This game is bad as hell. If you like then thats fine but the Xbox should have improve it more with better graphics and the fighting styles. The fighting stlyes were pathetic and now they give this review almost 3 star, I wont give it 1 star and a half. This game is wasting my time.
