Men of Courage without a doubt.

Commandos 2 is a stellar game. The graphics are simply stunning, yet the game offers much more than mere eye candy. This game is definitely not for the beginner, unless he/she possess above average patience. I say this because the game can become quite difficult in many parts, and some missions may seem downright impossible. Don't let this discourage you though, because with practice you will soon be manouvering your troops through windows, up poles, in the water, around in vehicles.

Commandos 2 offers great value and replayability. For those fortunate enough to find the hidden bonuses scattered throughout each mission there are bonus missions to overcome.

All in all this is a great game that will require many hours on your part. This game is definitely worth the money, especially if you have played any of the previous commando titles. The 3D room viewing is quite helpful, and the characters are simply superb.

Enjoy bringing down the axis powers in this compelling stategy game.

Frustrating Controls destroy what could be a great game

I am a huge fan of RTS games. Love C&C, Warcraft, Starcraft, Homeworld, but had never played a "squad" type RTS before Commando's 2. The game really intreged me, but alas, I fell prey to frustration almost immediately. I couldn't figure out how to play the game. Once I read the manual, it got better, but not a whole lot. The interface is very unintuitive, and requires the memorization of keyboard commands for virtually every action. And as realistic as the game tries to be, I wasn't impressed. You can throw a grenade and blow up 4 Germans and still (40 minutes later) the same German found not more than 50 feet away, is still smoking a cigarette and hasn't moved an inch. (You'd think the noise would have made him move). OR I hate the fact that your gun has only a 10 foot range. Now that's realistic. Top that off with the frustrating controls, and I put the game down after "training mission number 2" (which isn't a training mission), and I don't foresee picking it up again. Teaches me not to play the demo first.

Whew.....you've got to be kidding me

This is a great game, but....... man you have got to learn the keyboard. Not just hot keys, also key combinations. You can pretty much get your people to do anything, but you've got to know how to do it. I am not a veteran of the previous versions and I am definitely paying for it. I normally play FPS games, i.e. quake III, and thought I would stimulate my brain a little better with a strategy type game. It was a good move, but after a couple hours I am exausted mentally. I am no genius but I am an engineer so I consider myself fairly intelligent, this is a hard but challenging game. I would recommend it, but have some patience. Try to learn as much as you can about the movements commonly used and you'll enjoy it.

Damn thing is GOOD!

I was one of the people who had been eagerly waiting for Commandos 2 and bought it with preorder.
I've only played 2 tutorial and 2 mission until now and left 8 to go for an ending(9 if I include the secret mission).
One thing most clear is that level is huge and those who liked original Commandos will certainly love this one, too.
But there is problem with the interface. Though I cannot think better way for an interface, it is quite tricky sometimes and I have to consult a manual and in-game help a lot.
Except that, this one is very addicting and has many interesting situations. Those who liked original should buy this one. Those who not probably wait till Demo is available though I'm not sure it will be available or not. (I'm not sure but I heard that Pyro guys had left their Studio. If this is true, I wonder who can make patches and demo.)

An Absolute must have more ... more ... more!!!!!!

After playing Behind Enemy Lines and Beyond The Call (demo) I have just one comment to make! Edios stop production on every other game you are making and get Commando's 2 finished now! I can't wait for the August 1st release date. I have never been addicted to a game as much as I have with Commando's at least not since Missle Command. the Commando series is beyond all expectations and the additional commando's and dog should add more intrigue and suspense to the game. This is a must have!!!!! So get to work Edios and give me my game!!!! definately worth a few more stars than just 5!

should be worth the wait

Having played "Behind enemy lines" and "Beyond the call of duty", I wait with eager anticipation for the latest release from Eidos. No other strategy game comes close for gameplay. So going by past results "Commandos 2" should hit the top spot in the charts.

Patients you will need it..

Okay, I must admit that I started to take this game back once I first popped it in. I found the new controls and systems too difficult to understand right out of the box. I was an avid Commandos player and I thought for sure I could manage the next version. However, it took me several attempts at the training missions and numerous trips to the instruction manual to figure things out. But, now that I have everything down pat, I love this game. The new features that allow you to go inside of buildings, post people on guard, the new characters, the ability to rotate the view (a must use feature), and the upgraded graphics make this a great game. EIDOS really did things right by putting out a sequel to a great game that took what we liked about the first one and made it better!

Fun Fun Fun!!!

What a great game....one of the best RTS I have ever played! The story is great, graphics are awesome, and the AI is challenging. It takes a while to learn everything available, but it is way worth the effort. Plan on spending some serious time with this game....ADDICTION FACTOR: HUUUUUUUGE!

THIS GAME IS JUST TOO HARD

If you loved the original 'Commandos' (as did I), this one is going to be a bit of shock for you. Sure there are huge improvements in graphics, but the gameplay is just too difficult.

Unlike the original 'Commandos' game the two training missions here teach you nothing atall. Your dumped into a small scenario and left to figure out for yourself which of the 30+ hotkeys do what. Useless.

And the game scenarios? There just seem to be groups of enemy soldiers waiting behind every door and around every corner...especially on the Colditz game. You'll open a door, with no idea what's behind it, and you'll find yourself in a room full of 5 soldiers, who see you within a couple of seconds and start shooting. And of course another 5 soldiers appear from the neighbouring rooms and join in, you don't stand a chance. This seems to be repeated across many of the maps, unlike the original game were such large groups of the enemy were uncommon.

Also unlike the original game, there's very little 'clear space'to move around in. If there's a clearing big enough to hold an enemy soldier, the developers have put one there, and another 2 or 3 watching him. The amount of enemy soldiers seems to have multiplied by ten compared to the first game. Sure the maps here are larger, but that makes no difference, the enemy are just everywhere you turn. it seems like you can't move in any direction for 5 seconds without bumping into at least one one.....and I won't even mention the numerous unarmed men who just seem to lurk about fixing fences and painting gates, then try and beat you up when you stumble over them!

I loved the first commandos game, but I've been playing(or trying to play!) Commandos 2 for a week now, and am just finding it frustratingly hard to get into. It just too easy to die, and the odds all too often seem overwhelmingly stacked against you....and this is on the 'easy' level! The easy level on this game seem to be ten times harder than the hard level on the original.

If you're going to buy this, be prepared to spend a couple of weeks getting into it and figuring it out.You will NOT be able to just jump into this and have an enjoyable gaming session, even if you were an expert on the old Commandos game.

This would have been the PERFECT game if only the training helped to train you, and the 'easy' level WAS easy! I'm giving it just 2 stars because of the stupendous difficulty in getting started, the stupendous amount of enemy soldiers, and the stupendously hard 'easy' level. If it played as well as the original, it'd be 5,no question.
