Fun for about 10 minutes

I had been looking forward to the release of this game ever since I bought my PSP. I was a little worried about how they would handle the FPS controls, but couldn't wait to get my hands on it. When I finally got the game it was one of the biggest disappointments I've ever had.

While this game may look fantastic, it is boring and repetitive. Basically the game designers created three environments (City, Base, and Ruin) and a Random room generator and then quit working. The Random room generator is supposed to add to the repeatable play aspect of the game. I actually got bored before getting through the game once. There is no depth in this game. Once in a while you will get a cool room where it takes some skill and tactics to get through, but many rooms require more bullets than brains to get through.

My major problem with this game is its' lack of depth. They start you out with an interesting premise. "You are a hacker who is risking his life for fame, glory, and riches by hacking into this obsolete military training simulation."

Where are the fame, glory, and riches? The only things you hack are the occational weapon items. There is no overall point to this game as the story line begins and ends before you ever start shooting your gun. I finished most of the game within a week and I haven't picked it up since then. The play just comes across as boring and repeatative, requiring very little skill or strategy.

This game is fun for about 10 minutes, but after that you keep seeing the same halls and rooms over and over again and the three environments start to all look the same. Borrow the game from a friend who was dumb enough to pick it up. I'll let you have mine, just give it back in 10 when you get bored.

This a joke?

I mean honestly were the develporers high when they made this!?!? I mean please tell me. You do 3 levels, city, ruins, and i cant even remember the other one because its so stupid. The graphics are okay for a handheld but wow you do the same thing over and over and is fun for maybe 15 minutes. Dont buy this game. Everyone likes different types of games so if theres nothing else at the rental store then rent it but do not buy it because this game sucks.

I couldnt stop playing it. The sound effects alone are worth the money. I only play with headphones so I can hear everything!

To start off we have a cool menu set up of the style of the matrix. We have the graphics which are nice. The gameplay gets a little repetive but fun as halo 2 online when you have people to play with.

Konami did leave alot of stuff out like not having online, designers left a lot of the levels almost the as the last level.

Presentation: 7.5

Graphics: 8.5

Sound: 8.0

Gameplay: 8.5

Lasting Appeal: 8.5

Overall: 8.5 This game has a fun single player, but the multiplayer is so kick ass it's like halo on the PSP!

I can not wate for the new coded arms to come out next year at the first of spring! Better graphics, sound, gameplay, and 8 player ONLINE!

This Game Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coded Arms is the first game that I bought for my PSP (costing me 45 dollars). I loved playing it. The graphics were great, it sounded good, and it was the only game I had. But after 30 to 45 minutes of playing it, I started to get bored. It was a mixture of; the game bieng to easy, repetitive, and not having an interasting story. The controls were horrible and even the other setups were unbearable. You have to left handed and double jointed to get anwhere in this game. But then after a month of me using my PSP for movies, music, etc. Coded Arms just sat on my shelf. Then I got SOCOM, Twisted Metal, Burnout, etc. and I never touched Coded Arms until sold it last May (for 15 dollars).
Coded Arms does not hold up to the PSP's other great titles and I was very disappointed with the game. I strongly suggest renting Coded Arms before you even consider buying it.

First of all, this is more of a preview because its the morning of the release day for Coded arms, and im waiting to go pick my reserved copy up at EB Games. Of what I have heard coded arms will be about a 7 out of ten. These stats are from magazines like EGM, PSM, and websites like Gamestop and EB games home site. The storyline of Coded arms is based on an error in a police/marine training program. You are a hacker trying to stop the bug from getting to big. The overall gameplay is quite good and I myself give it 8/10 stars. The flaws of the game are mostly based on the PSP's control scheme, which is not really built for an FPS(first person shooter). The gameplay is kind of repetetive, but it grows on you. There will be a multiplayer Wi-fi capability that supports up to 8 players at most. It will also have a random level generator so you won't play the same level so much. This, I don't like because in other FPS games I have played such as Halo, Doom 3, etc. have certain levels that are fun to replay and this won't let you do that. Still, I give it good but not better than the other shooters from XBOX and PS2, but if you want a shooter for PSP now, buy Coded arms. The other great thing is that its only $40.00. If you are willing to wait what will probably be another delay to next year, buy GTA: Liberty City stories which will be first class.

It's not horrible, but it's also not enjoyable.

When the PSP was revealed along with its games, it was heralded as a revolution in handheld design and functionality. One of its flagship titles was Coded Arms. Unfortunately, after all the hype and all the screenshots, Coded Arms fails to live up to lofty expectations.

Graphically, Coded Arms is absolutely gorgeous. Considering this is a first generation PSP game and that the hardware can still dish out so much more is simply amazing. The visuals are extremely polished, very good and the game has no slowdown. Unfortunately, most of the game is spent indoors in factories and simulations, so they never really are fully appreciated. The music doesn't really wow, and considering it is an FPS, it doesn't really need to. It's solid and such in terms of effects, so there aren't really any problems in these two categories.

Where Konami really dropped the ball was just about everything else. The controls give you a variety of options, but the default settings are garbage; you will almost certainly need to go back and recalibrate it for more comfort. The PSP can play an FPS for sure after you get used to it, just not as comfortably as you might want it to.

The gameplay is what really drags the game down. The game really is nothing more than a simulator. It creates a bunch of random stages that mostly look the same. While you would think that would be better for replay value, the fact is that most of the stages randomly created have just been changed slightly perhaps in enemy locations, but really, they are all virtually the same with the same enemies. Doing so makes things more complicated than necessary, but really gives you the feeling that the developers were too lazy to design real levels and so just added in a random generator as an excuse. Enemy variety is almost non-existent as well, and even the ones that are present are very bland and unexciting.

Coded Arms, with just a bit of tweaking, mainly in its gameplay and controls could have been an amazing game. It's easily and quite possibly, the best looking handheld game on the market, but you wouldn't know that based on it's generic and unwelcoming look right down to the box art. My recommendation: save your money for a more worthy game.

cant believe it!

man first of all this game kind of sucks the lack of controls suck but version A of controls is better the graphics are O.K. but when you keep playing it for a while it looks like the same place? over and over again! this game is really repetitive soo if you dont like hard games this is not for you but if you do it could still not fit you because really the whole game lacks off alot but one thing i noticed is that the battery life is longer than games like tony hawks and dead to rights! thats good! but still its not the best but the sound is good love when shooting those big guns and machine gun ect. but if you get use to any of the controls within 30 minutes it will be a fun game but i recommend you to keep with A version of controls! overall it depends on how you like a game!

graphics 6/10 its better than average
sound 8/10 good
gameplay 6/10 same levels!

overall= 6.9 could of done better for the second shooter game on the psp! but its better than dead to rights!

EFFFING LAZY DEVELOPERS!
