Before you completely skip this review because I like it better than Halo (God forbid anything can be better) just know that when playing this with other people it is much more enjoyable and anyone can be good at it not like in Halo where there are the few people who play it so much that they are to good for anyone to want to play with. This game is very fun and has one of the best capture the flag modes I have ever played. I love flying around the level in deathmatch with my friends and shooting the stinger beams that follow people at them. It looks awsome because the bullets will be swirling around the level and it gets really hard if you start deflecting them with your swords. I have to admit though melee feels a bit odd but you'll get used to it, And when using a gun you can switch between first person and third person (I prefer 3rd). I really enjoy this game and I know you will two if you give it a try.

An amazing xbox game.

From what I saw in the gameplay videos, this game looked awesome, but a friend of mine urged me to stay away from it. Now that I have played it, I say that it is one of the best xbox games I have ever played. It blends first person/third person shooting with fighting games. The graphics are cool, the story line is decent, and best of all, it succeeds where UT2004 failed. There are new elements in this game that are tremendous fun, such as one gametyper, where you must seize radioactive spheres and deliver them to the goals before someone steals it. This is different from UT2004, where some gametypes that seemed like a good idea turned out to be mediocre.

I suggest you buy this game!

One of the few titles with Replay-ability for those without xbox live

Although I seldom write reviews I noticed that nobody was mentioning one
of the strong points to this graphically beautiful game and that is the
replay ability factor. I've got a cabinet full of wonderful play one or
two time games (e.g. KOTOR) but only a of games able to play over and
over. The bots are well thought out and crafty. Some have said they are
predictable but my answer to that is just increase the difficulty level
homeboy.

So how's that for a review, not trying to pull your heart strings or be
prophetic only trying to tell you this game can be replayed and enjoyed
long after games like it (Doom 3) are deep in the drawer.

Sweet gun-shooty sword-killy gaming goodness.

This game is perfect for those times when you have 10 or 15 minutes to play video games. I don't even have XBox live, but I find the bots are pretty good and the team deathmatch/capture the flag/etc. are pretty entertaining even offline. The combo of ranged weapons and the new melee attacks takes some time and skill to master, but it's very rewarding when you do so. The game is smooth and beautiful, and the acrobatic style of combat is quite a departure from the first Unreal Championship game. The only complaint I have is that the melee weapons seem to be much, much more powerful than the ranged weapons. I wonder if there is a setting somewhere in there where I can change that. At any rate this game is now $20 brand new or less used, and you should buy it.

Hardcore Unreal fan!

What happened??

What happened to Unreal? This used to be THE shooter. Now its just become a mess. The single player is annoying, you can only play Anubis and he SUX!!. The melee really falls short. If your not a tank then you die really quick. The combos are laughable, all you do is hold the right trigger and hope you don't die before the other guy. The weapons which I thought would be the shining light are horrible. The only one that does enough damage to make a difference is the Rocket launcher which gets old really quick. What is with the Nalhi hunt, how lame do you want to be. I don't care about Xbox live because all its gonna be is people jumping around like idiots, with that "unpresedented mobility" firing rockets at each other. I really tried to like this game but it just isn't any fun. And a game should be fun.

This is going to be the ultimate Unreal

The Unreal series has been around for many years now, and this is the upcoming sequel to the Xbox hit Unreal Championship. That was among the five best selling Xbox first person shooters ever, along with other titles such as Bungie's Halo and EA Games' 007 Nightfire. It wasent quite perfect though, and the best part about it was arguably playing online, but it was a mildly entertaining frag fest. More could have been done though to revolutionize the aging franchise. However, what I have read and seen on Unreal Championship 2 looks really, really good. You can play in first person or third person view. People who have played an early version of this title have said that third person view is fun, and will be more natural feeling than you might think. So dont be skepticle just yet! This time around, Atari also wont be doing the honors of publishing it. Midway will sell the game this time around, though Epic Games is still handling developement. Not that any of that matters, its just interesting to know. The new guns are wicked cool, and cause massive destruction, while the graphics system has been greatly improved (hopefully the frame rate will be better and there will be absolutely no lag this time around). Although I gave this five stars, this is really not a final review. If you are an Unreal fan, FPS gamer or an avid Xbox Live player, though, pre-order this game today... To be nice, I'll give this five stars.
