Sega GT is an good game. Its almost an exact copy of Gran Turismo. The graphics are beautiful, controls are good, handling of cars is realistic, the sound is great, but it lacks the fun factor.
The single player game in which you play a professional racer is good. Its nice to get money to buy better cars and to buy used or new auto parts. The realism of everything is great, (but not for someone who always crashes!)I like the idea of the liscence tests.
However it is so repitive! The A.I is tough, offering no difficulty setting. Its no fun when you complete so many races to buy this expensive car and then you go into a race and all your opponents have as good a car as you! Whats up with that? There is no xbox live, multiplayer is weak (4 players would have been nice.) For me, a realistic driving experience isn't my thing. But if you fancy this kind of stuff, I recommend it.

The game has great potential but it just falls short. Great physics, well-detail classic cars and decent graphics weren't enough to save this release. My main problems are, firstly, that the tracks seemed to be created at random . . . meaning that they just didn't make any sense; placing corners here and there just for the sake of having turns. Whoever created this title probably hasn't ever seen an actual track. Even as something as simple as a racing oval was screwed up by having the pitting area on the backside instead of the front straightaway (a moot point, however, as there is no pitting in this game. On top of that, there are only eight tracks or so and all of them quite short. Second, the game can be finished within a day or so. There is about twenty events, but you seem to be doing the same ones over and over again to make enough money to buy different cars. All of them which need to be upgraded to even have a chance at winning.
As I said, not terrible. But when one becomes used to benchmark titles such as Gran Turismo 3, Project Gotham Racing and Rallisport Challenge it's hard to accept a seemingly casual effort like this one.
Best. Racer. Ever. I mean, Best. Game. Ever

My Review Title say it all. This game is unbelievably realistic. When you pop in the disc, the first word that comes out of your mouth is "Wow". The graphics are screaming, and the reflection on the vehicles and the glare from the sun on your windshield is Superb. When you drive by the crowd, they are waving and taking pictures of your vehicle. Vehicle handling and physics are the best I have ever seen in any racing game. Drag racing is amazing in this game. Did I mention that in the middle of a race, at any given moment, a part in your vehicle may break or malfunction. When this happens, you actually lose performance in your vehicle! Also, you can purchase many different kinds of parts for our car. You can even get Nitrous (NOS), if you are lucky enough to find it in the parts shop. I would not recommend this game for Novice gamer, unless they are patient enough to try and learn the controls. In other words, don't get this game for an 8 year old. This game is one that deserves 5 Stars. Good Job Sega!
EASILY the BEST racing game ever

To start off with, Gran Turismo games have NOTHING on this game. This game is alot funner than Gran Turismo 3 on the Playstation 2 and in this game, you can handle the cars alot better unlike in G.T.3. The game is very fun, I haven't beaten it yet. I got this along with Jet Set Radio Future in the XBOX package and im suprised they gave this game away in it. You can buy old and new cars such as Corvette's, Stingrays, Mustangs (Old and new). The list goes on. The funnest part is when you get Nitrous Oxide (NOS). The graphics will blow you away. Several of my friends thought I was watching tv and not playing it.
If there is any racing game to get, THIS is THE one. I hope they make more of these.
Fun for a while, but...

This game is basically a lesser version of Gran Turismo 3 for XBOX. It is fun for about 10 hours of playtime, but after that, I lost interest (compared to about 100 hours of GT3 playtime before losing interest). If you don't already have Project Gotham Racing, or Gran Turismo 3 and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 for PS2 (don't bother with the XBOX version), those are all much better than Sega GT 2002. But if you are a racing fanatic and have already seen everything else under the sun, Sega GT 2002 will hold your interest for a week or two.
Pretty Good

Graphics are great, i'll give it that much. The steering is horrible. At every turn it's like crash into the wall. Too hard to earn money.

project gotham is great but after playing sega gt 2002 i'm convinced that sega will always be there when it comes to awesome racers. NOW, WHEN WILL THEY REALEASE DAYTONA USA & AFTER BURNER ON XBOX? this game is a lot of fun. it is not hard like gt3; it gives you something kind of like the kudos sytem in project gotham. in other words, sega has given race fans the best of both worlds and it is great. in a recent review i said the z06 was awesome but i recently unlocked the CASPITA. this thing looks like an ferrari f-50, moves like the wind, handles like an f-1 racer. i have tried other cars but i can't stop driving the CASPITA. the ford gt-40 is great just like they claim but lets get serious. the CASPITA IS THE CAR YOU WANT WHEN YOU WANT A CAR THAT CAN MATCH YOUR RACING SKILLS. YOU WON'T TAKE THE LEAD RIGHT OFF HAND BUT WHEN YOU GET GOING AND HAVE MASTERED THE TRACKS WITH THE CASPITA AND HAVE WENT THROUGH ALL THE UPGRADES TO A SUPER CAR, I WILL GUARANTEE THAT YOU CAN WIN EVERY RACE EXCEPT "DRAG RACING" AND "RALLY RACING" IN FIRST PLACE. DON'T BELIEVE ME? JUST PUT IN THE TIME TO EARN THE CASPITA AND UPGRADE IT TO A SUPER CAR, THEN PUT IT ON THE FINAL STAGE IN "WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP" OFFICIAL RACES AGAINST THE DODGE VIPER GTS-R. in my opinion, the CASPITA is the second coming of the FERRARI F-50.
fun but flawed

Sega GT 2002 is not the superntural success that was done with GT3 but it there is still some fun to be had. The Single player mode is done well with lots of replay value and tons of depth. You start out with only ...and you are forced to buy a junky car to begin the game. For those of you who want the best of the best to start with, you can go to the quick battle mode. There are a ton of different cars ranging from the Honda Civic to the Lotus Elise. There are a total of 125 cars once you beat the game and you will be amazed at the detail put into each car. This can not be said about the backgrounds though. They look blocky and badly textured as if it came from the Nintendo 64. Also the sense of speed is not so good and the braking is way to responsive to be real. With a customizable soundtrack via the hardrive, racing fans will have a ball.
