(Demo version) Remember games like "Gradius" on the old 8-Bit Nintendo? This title extrapolates that idea into 3 dimensions. The formations that enemies fly in, the landscape syles, and the bosses are all very reminiscent of Gradius and friends. The graphics are fantastic and the pace of play is consistent and challenging. On par, a great new implementation of a classic game style.
INCREDIBLE! Incredibly OVERRATED I mean

After reading tons of rave reviews on game sites for days, I finally forked out ... my hard-earned money to buy Panzer Dragon Orta. Right after seeing the intro movie I had a sickening feeling in my stomach.... I was shaking my head in disbelieve... I absolutely don't understand what the hype is all about. One word that sums everything about the game is CHEESY. I didn't buy an XBox to play a Nintendo 64 quality game!!! I think the storyline is [substandard], the gameplay quickly gets boring and redundant, sound brings back memories from the 80's, graphics is OK but nothing compared to Halo and Splinter Cell. Do your self a favor and save your money for another game... don't throw it away like I did. Giving it 1 star is being too generous..... sigh....
Could have been better...

This game takes full advantage of the Xbox. The backgrounds look more like artwork than something in a video game. The story is interesting but a little bizarre and a lot is lost in the fact that you have to read subtitles during the game. The manufacturers should have taken the extra time to use voice overs as the subtitles get tedious and can be distracting. Basically, you fly around in a pre-determined path blasting your way through enemies and bosses. You are perched on top of a dragon that can morph into different states, each with it's own abilities. Controls are easy to master (it's basically a third person shooter game) and camera angles are right on target. The graphics and unique story line make this game seem better than it actually is.
Great, but not the best

I read some reviews for this game that placed it as the best xbox title out there. Above splinter cell!?!?! Well sorry, its not better than splinter, actually not even close. That game stands out above all the others. This game however is excellent.
Gameplay is a lot of fun, but freakin' HARD. The easy setting is not easy, at all. This really isn't that much of a complaint, I like hard games.
Next the sound is mediocre at best. Its cheesy 90's video game music. Along with the sound category is the severe lack of info available to us English speakers. Subtitles?????? come on Sega. Its can't be that damn hard to redo the sound for the thousands of English speaking players. You can't understand commands or suggestions while playing, and can get lost if you don't read the commands.
One more small complaint is the lack of game saving slots. Only 1. I'd like to save a couple games, for me friends and other things.
I do like the grading system this game offers. A-D gives you an accurate estimate of how bad you suck at this game. D's and C's litter my scoreboards, lol!
Overall I am happy with this game, and do recommend it to anyone.
Amazing Graphics...a bit too weird fo me

To start off, this is probably the best rail games ever made, and one should not take this review as a decisive factor in whether one buys this game or not. It gives a surprising amount of freedom for a rail game. And, of course, its biggest achievement is the amazing visuals. However, it may lose some gamers because it is too wierd and surreal. I just have trouble setteling into the strange enviornments and fighting giant flying vegitables. I'm a casual gamer myself, and other than sports games I only get the most highly recommended action and RPG games (Halo, Morrowind, etc.). This one has scored above 90% everywhere I looked, so I'm sure many people will enjoy it. Perhaps I am just not hardcore enough to appreciae this game.
My best advise would be to rent this game and play a few levels, just to see if you can get into it. I thought it was fun, but I enjoy being able to fly on my own, and the whole world you are in is too strange. I suggest this game for anyone with a more open mind than me. Just try and rent it first, and decide for yourself.

Ive been waiting two years for this? This game is a joke.
The graphics are nowhere near what the claims are.It was
like steppin' back into the seventies and playing defender
or something along those lines...Only it wasn't that fun!
If you want killer graphics get Enclave...Every game should
look that good. There is no excuse for grainy or childish
graphics,in this day and age...It's just plain lazy.
Its fun, but not that fun

This game does have great graphics. It is fun to fly around in the path it gives you and shoot things, but it gets boring. And the game is WAY too hard. The bosses dont die, you have to shoot them millions and billioms of times to get them to die. Big dissapointment. But it was still good. Good story and as i said great graphics. Also way way way too short man. If it wasnt so hard you could beat it in and hour.
Disappointing

Such a let down..
When I heard Sega was making games for the XBox I was thrilled, however, this installment of Panzer Dragoon is sub par.
Very short. Incredibly short. It's only 10 levels. Pathetic. The controls were pretty easy to master. The switching dragons was a nice way to make things more difficult. And the backgrounds were stupendous. Very well done.
However, the difficulty is incredible. I can't get past level 3 on Normal. Ok, maybe I ..., but it's still far to difficult. Enemies all around you, and you barely heal after a level.
However, on the plus side. If you beat the game you get the entire Panzer Dragoon game. Very nice easter egg.
There's also a sub mission involving a boy in the empire, but boy does it .... You have to hover the chair he's in and its too damn shaky to steer, since you're on a rail (never stop moving) you crash into walls and die. And have to read this stupid thing about how he gets kicked out of the empire
Boy do I not care. I wish game companys would make EVERY SINGLE CUTSCENE SKIPPABLE. IM NOT WATCHING A MOVIE.
What's with the voices too? At first I thought they were in Japanese, but they're just random words. I'm not in for reading subtitles; never do that again Sega.
What a Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the game based on the glowing reviews here and at GameSpot. I can't believe these reviews were for the game I played. I was sorely disappointed. I really wasn't that impressed with the graphics, and the story is just weird. But the key point is, this game just isn't fun.
If I could return it, I would.
