Just a heads-up for all of you out there thinking about picking this up for 360. Don't. It won't work.

I would love to play this game, but it won't play on my XBox360Pro? I got munch's Revenge(?) at the same time. It's older than the wrath, but it plays on my son's XBox and I'm having a great time with it! Really missed playing it on Playstation.

Not compatible with 360: found out the hard way

I recently purchased a 360, bought some games, including both from xbox and xbox 360's lineup. Strager's Wrath seemed like it would be a good game. Unfortunately, when I popped it in, an error message popped up, saying that this game couldn't be played. I probably should've done some more research, but that's my fault.

Alas, MS killed another

It is without a doubt that the demise of this company had something to do with not ever making it available to the fans of the first two games on PS2. I touted them to everyone I knew, and was rebuffed when the XBox only deal was cut; 'that technologically this could only be developed on the XBox platform (right after Microsoft bought in). Thanks for being an early adopter, but PS2 is a deadend.' Could it be that sales not being as huge affected the confidence? Beautiful game, but exclusivity has its price, especially when you thumb your nose at the fans who helped you to get your genius recognized in the first place. It would be nice to see all of these games released one day on PS3 as a package, but it is doubtful. The Redmond chokehold on Lorne that makes his eyes bug out like Abe's so it is not likely to be released any time soon. We can only hope the movie business is kinder to old Abe and more people will be able to enter this incredible creation of Oddworld through that portal. Let's hope so, because Hollywood can tear you apart faster than the graveyard shift at Rupture farms.

Don't get it!

This game is not as good as the reviews make it sound. The sounds are annoying, the action is boring. Seriously disappointed.

Way Better Than Munch's Odyssey

The animation is beautiful, there are some interface issues, the game gets pretty hard after the first three bosses. The dialogue among the Clakkerz doesn't change as much as you might think which gets disappointingly repetitive. But all that said where this XBOX game succeeds it is in the FPS and third person switch which is surprisingly easy to do and looks great. Could be very influential in how other games are designed in the future. In many ways I kind of wish Mercenaries had been designed in this fashion as well. Whether the game will have repeat playability is up for debate (I have beaten about five bosses so far.) The CGI intro sequence was quite good (although throughout the game the dialogue could have used some work)and I hope there will be more of that kind of thing later in the game. My biggest complaint overall is why do all the bad guy characters get all the cool gun weaponry and we're just stuck with the goofy animals and the crossbow? It would have been nice to have at least had the option to use one of the enemies style of guns. The game is refreshingly original though in terms of design much like the first game.

Review Update:

The last section of the game is quite stunning and worth the purchase alone. The end of the game is thrilling and action packed but extremely hard getting there so be strong.

A good renter, but why buy?

Oddworld Stranger's Wrath is the newest game in the oddworld series. You play Stranger, a bounty hunter, who hunts outlaws for moolah. The money, we learn, is going to be used to pay for Stranger's mysterious surgery.

Like the other oddworld games, this one follows the fight of the innocent indigenous people of oddworld against greedy corporate . . .things. Unlike the other oddworld games, this one doesn't involve Abe at all.

The gameplay is very smooth. You can switch from a first-person shooter mode, to a third-person mode. The much-touted "live" ammo, feature, allows you to fire critters from a cross bow, which, in turn, maul, sting, or electricute bad guys.

This game has more bosses than I've seen in a while. Each one is unique, and you can try to either capture them alive, or bring them in dead.

So, why only three stars? For one thing, the camera in 3rd person mode can be a pain at times - not moving where you want it to go. I was also disappointed at the lack of cinematic sequences, this one only had five or six, while it seems like the other oddworld games tend to have more. To be fair, the sequences were very well done, there just weren't enough of them. Another problem was the playability - after just a few hours, I had beaten the game, and I have to say I have no desire to pick it back up. But my major beef with this game is leaving out Abe. Why would you make another oddworld game, and then not have its hero in it?

Overall, this game was very original and very graphically pleasing. It was worth renting, but I doubt I'll ever want to play it again.

Best shooter yet !

This game is amazing! The graphics are unbeliveable and i havent even found 1 glitch. I personaly do not like first person shooters well guess what? You switch from third to first person and vice versa. Though the dialouge in this game is just ok. The accents are amazing. The only reason i rated this game 4.5 is because for some people like me it is very freaky and odd but for most people this game is a 5! The enemies are really funny. They may look tough but when you hide in bushes and see what their saying you wont think their as tough. When the enemies cant see you their usually complaining about their jobs, cursing or warning about the bounty hunter(you)that may come. The base of the game is to capture all the bosses as you also fight weaker enemies. If your looking for an adventure, comedy, first person third person shooter with the best graphics and gameplay you can ask for than get oddworld strangers wrath. You'll love it!

Oddworld Inhabitants-Pure Genius

The first thing you notice when this game begins are the incredible graphics. They profoundly showcase the capabilities of the XBOX. no matter how chaotic the screen becomes, frame rates never miss a beat. The draw distances are also incredible. Bushes and shrubs are visable form across a lake or valley. This western themed universe is supremely well pulled off with the efforts of artistically talented Lorne Lanning and crew. At times I explored and hiked around simply for the sake of seeing the world.
The sound is just as good as the graphics. Dolby surround compliments the graphics dynamically. Sound effects are crisp and clear. The ambient sounds of the environments are aslo very well done, from lapping river currents to snapping machine gun fire. Voiceovers are fun and nicely performed, though at times it can be difficult to understand Stranger.
Stranger's wrath uses some well implemented tools to keep the game interesting. The game functions as a normal FPS and seamlessly switches to third person at the touch of a button allowing the player to run and fight hand to hand. During First person, Stranger uses a double barrel crossbow which fires live creatures that you must often catch to use. This feature is novel and allows a huge deal of replay value as you find different combos to better bounty your prey.
Stranger's job through most of the game will be to bounty outlaws. Obviously you'll be paid more to bring them in alive than dead. Bringing a boss in alive is a test in patience and at some points seems almost impossible. However, due to character development, Stranger will not bounty hunt the entire game. His chracter becomes more and more interesting and in Oddworld fashion, he is charged with the task of saving the world.
If this is what Oddworld Inhabitants can do now, future projects will be highly anticipated.
Pros:
Great graphics and sound, very high replay, excellent character development and novel approach to "live ammo"
Cons:
Can seem linear, very hard to bounty bosses alive
