Good Graphics... Mediocre Game

My title really sums it all up. The graphics in this game are of the highest quality available right now. Will this game compare with the DooM III engine? Probably not, but that dosen't mean that this game isn't worth checking out.

The actual storyline is medicore, as is the amount of time spent on the game. I beat it top-to-bottom in about 8 hours. I realize that this is just a FPS (First Person Shooter), but it could have been a bit longer.

What I really came to like throuought the game is the exotic planets. The graphics of the terrain and surrounding biosphere is truly amazing. Some levels seem more of a vacation spot that a battlefield, and I think that works to the advantage of the game. There are ALOT of really cool weapons, but I found that many of the enemies are very hard to kill and very difficult to see, even with these advanced weapons.

One major bug that I had with my copy was that not all the people came out 'skinned' correctly (in graphics terms). What I mean by this is that the human characters would be covered with this oozy blue/red kind of fluidy substance instead of the skin model. It is very hard to explain, but it was apparent through the whole game, and is obviously a game error. I may be unique in this error, but hopefully it will be addressed in an upcoming patch.

One final word I can give about this game is to make sure that your system is up to par. If you have a GeForce 3 or lower, you should seriously consider getting a video card upgrade before you buy this game. While it will funcion on your computer, I have a GeForce4 Ti4400 and it is choppy during high action or high AI (artificial intelligence) uses at 2x antialiasing; almost to the point where the game is unplayable. I would highly recommend getting a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro or 9700 Pro before you try to take on this game, especially if you want antialiasing, anistrophic filtering and/or higher resoultions that 800x600.

Overall, Unreal II is a game with quality graphics, beautiful scenery, cool weapons, high graphical needs, short length and a mediocre story. Ranks 3/5 stars.

Huh... that was intresting...

After all the Multi-player versions that came out, Unreal universe is exspanded again in a new single player Adventure. This time with voice acting and facial Posing. NEAT...

Still the game even on it Hardest Settig was way to easy for me in the first run through. and was way too short for my taist. then again it was still long.

The weapons where balanced fairly well, lots of nice features. had a fairly intresting story and an intresting Slant.

Still it dissapointed me. fun but nothing really new...

Not exactly "Unreal" but...

I never liked those online tournament style games, I prefer something with a bit of a story. This one's got it all. If you found the first Unreal pretty but a bit boring, then you're in for a pleasant surprise. This one is much prettier, and has an actual story!

Very short game.

It should never have been called unreal period. It is a decent "first person" shooter game, but was very short. If I would have paid $40.00 I'd have been very disapointed. It only took 8 - 10 hrs to beat and I'm not a pro gamer!

Good not Great Fun but not estatic

It is a really great game cinimatics and graphics wise, but the gameplay story really wasn't the greatest. I would'nt bomb it though. Buy definitly or borrow from a friend.

Unreal 2 marches to the beat of a different drummer...

Although I salute the late Legend Entertainment for offering a departure title in the Unreal franchise, I must admit I am disappointed by the offering. Unreal had a successful, enjoyable formula. If that formula could have somehow been infused with the beautiful graphics/music and fun combat system featured in Unreal 2, Legend would have had a runaway hit.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. Unreal 2 felt too much like it's own, unique deal... which, I suppose would have been fine, had the game not been promising a SEQUEL to Unreal. This is what happens when you have an ambitious developer handle a popular franchise with a publisher imposed deadline under the burden of thousands of fans' grand expectations.

I bought Unreal 2 and I was glad I did, but I'm anxiously awaiting Unreal 3 to give me some satisfaction... the Unreal way.

Very good game, worth a couple of weekends.

The editor panned the skins as cartoonish, and I agree, but I think they were trying for that when they created the game. The graphics in this game are very good, I would scale them on a 5 out of 5 (make sure you got the latest drivers!). The single-player gameplay is not nearly as bad as these guys say: The AI is about as good as the original Unreal (I would give it a 4 out of 5). I found the game entertaining enough to finish, which means a LOT, since I lost interest and never finished the original Unreal (I was hooked on HL and Quake 2). I would suggest this to any serious gamer who want some serious eye candy with a few challenges thrown in here and there. This game is NOT a dog, I guarantee it.

Great game

this game is a lot of fun. the graphics are a pleaser, and the gameplay and story keep you hooked. The weapons are an absolute blast, very innovative and cool looking. It suits a few different types of players, as well. if you're into stealth; sniping off a few and then cleaning up the rest, you get some missions for that. if you like to go in guns a blazing, you get some missions for that, too. the missions are very varied and it keeps the game fresh and interesting. the story is Very suspenseful. The only thing that keeps this game from 5 stars is a) it's pretty linear, and b) there's no incentive to go back and beat it again. still, worth you money.

Good, not great, but good

This game is one of the ones that rely on graphics to get where it wants to go. I loved this game at first because I had been starved of a good FPS for about 2 months. It does have its downfalls of course, it is way to short, I beat it in just 8 hours and there is no multiplayer support. It is a good game to play but you should probably just rent it and then you will probably have beaten it and moved on to the next one. It has some very cool weapons including the Assualt Rifle which is based on the XM-29. This game is very linear, but has an interesting plot and what I feel is a good storyline. The interaction between you and the marines is good although it is only on 2 missions, you can order marines to guard certian places and that was a good bonus to the game. Aida the ulta hot female (for a game) is there for breifings, and remarks between her and you break up the game a little. I got this game for 10 bucks so I didnt expect much but I feel it was worth it. My comp isnt the best (750Mhz, 14GB HD, 520RAM, Nvidia TNT2 gfxcard) but with some tweaking I got this to run with medium and high settings. But did take a moderetely large chunk out of my hard drive. 3GB and demanding requirements influenced my buy, but dont think much about them, you can't run at tops but it still works well. This game would've been one of the better games out there if it was a little longer or had multiplayer support. You can make your own levels, however there are a ton of bugs in the editor software so whenever you make a change there is usually something that crashes your comp so you lose it all. All in all this is a good game and is worth [a small amount of money]. Good interaction between you and the actors as well as superb graphics makes this game a tasty looking treat but the shortness as well as the high price for the graphics can be called into question.

ROCKS

This game rocks! I have never seen such good graphics and the gameplay is wonderful. The plot is nothing we havent seen before but one way or the other for 29.00$ you cant freakin' beat it.
