How can a game about pulverizing thugs be boring? Somehow Manhunt mangages it. Here's the game...you walk and walk and walk somemore...see a guy...punch or slash a million times then walk another digital mile. Ohhh, can you feel the excitement?
Ok, I do have to admit the garbage bag as a weapon was pretty cool the first time but it got old really fast.

Warning: this game is not for kids!
Manhunt for the Xbox is a stealth -type game where you have to sneak around, hide in shadows and avoid making noise. If you've ever played games like Splinter Cell or Tenchu, then you know what I'm talking about. The twist in Manhunt is that you are playing as a villian. You are playing a game of death with a bunch of psychos and killers. Within the game, you'll hear the voice of a sinister director who tells you what your objective is to complete a level. Most of the levels look like abandoned cities. Scattered around are killers who want to hunt you down. So you sneak up on them and the longer you remain undetected the more gruesome your executions becomes. You'll see the executions in a type of video sequences. The game is terribly violent and bloody it looks a lot like a slasher movie (think Friday the 13th). And this is why the game has a lot of controversy. It is senseless violence and has absolutely no redeeming value!
Pros:
+good graphics
+good sound effects
+good difficulty
+bloody
+creepy atmosphere
+lots of weapons
Cons:
-way too violent/ no morals
-you play a bad guy
-you are under-equipped
-linear gameplay
-single player game

Hey all,
I love all the friendly banter, and realize you're all around 10. But please listen to me when I say it is hard to take any of you seriously when you can't spell or use proper english.

QUIT CLOGING UP THE REVIEWS WITH YOUR LIFE STORY AND DAILY SITUATIONS. NOBODY CARES WHEN YOU CAN GET BACK ONLINE TO WRITE BLAND MAINSTREAM 5 STAR REVIEWS!!! This game is alright i guess if your enamored with the gore/profanity enough to pay no attention to the controller limitations. I thought it could have been so much more than just a stealth horror mission. Get's old and stupid for me but not as stupid as CHARLIE V1 WHO ALWAYS WRITES IN CAPS.

First, I don't know what the big controversy is over this game. It's gory, but the gore is not even remotely realistic. It's presented as being viewed through a camcorder, which I guess is supposed to make up for the fuzzy graphics, but even so it's still pretty cartoonish. Anyone who plays this game and then goes out and does something violent had problems long before this game was around. Second, I don't know why everyone says the game sucks. Actually I think I do know. It's the same reason that a lot of people hate Hitman, Splinter Cell, Thief, etc.: You _HAVE_ to use stealth in this game, there's no way to be successful without it. You will get your butt kicked very quickly if you face your attackers head on. If you like sneaking around type games, and I do, you will probably like Manhunt. With that said, I do have to say it started to get a little old around 2/3 of the way through, and I'm going to take my sweet time finishing it. I'm glad I didn't pay $50 for it (I only pay full price for Halo, Splinter Cell and GTA games), but as a used game it provided reasonable entertainment value. PS: Sleeper action hit of the year is The Suffering from Midway.
The "Sleeper Hit".

First off, this game gained my intrest ever since I WATCHED it being played on the crappy PS2. I stress watched because I would never touch such a vile and disgusting pile of technological bile of which is the PS2. Sorry, almost lost it there. This game just goes to show you why Rockstar is one of the premier developers, they continue to push the envelope by using that beautiful little rating box in the lower right hand corner of your game case. They have found and intriguing little niche, by blending both stealth and survival horror into a graphical 8mm snuff film fest. As far as gameplay and control, don't look for Sam Fisher type moves but expect tight and well designed control schemes and level creativity. If you've watched the movie 8mm and the Running Man then you've got a pretty good idea what the story is about. My only quirk with the game is that their are no port improvements. There should have been some sort of "And this version has". It's like game companies know the Xbox is the superior console, but won't use it's power to the fullest extent. But anyway they'll realize the power the system has to create great games. So all you Xbox fans out there, don't let this great game slip through your fingers, in other words don't sleep on this sleeper hit. And if your wondering why I didn't give "This Great Game" a perfect 5 stars, it's because, as we all know, the greatest game of all time is Halo
YEAH!!

I bought this game off of eBay after beating Splinter Cell:PT and deciding that I needed more stealth and had heard that Manhunt was a cool game. So I bought it and the first time that I played it I was a little shocked. But, as they say, you get desensitized. First let me tell you about the gameplay. Since the game's main plot is killing for sport, there are plenty of weapons and techniques to help you along the way. Some weapons are: wire (can use to cut off head and make a lure), plastic bag (suffocate them to death, then break neck), machete (cut off head in three meaty hits), crowbar (break back then stab the brain), shotgun (blow off the head), baseball bat (break their neck then beat off their head, with chunks of brain matter splattering all over the place), and on and on and on.. you get the point. That was only a few of the weapons. And how you excecute someone is you sneak up behind them, hold X or A for about five seconds, then let go and watch the blood spurt on the camera. Definitely not for the weak of stomach.
The sound is very good, and if you've got surround you can hear where the hunters are. Very useful. Also the kills make very wet sounds, more so than needed.
The graphics are very good. Not as good as Ninja Gaiden, but they are better than most.
Control is very easy and the first couple of levels will tell you how to use it.
And lastly, content matter. I would definitely not get this game for anyone under 15, as there is extremely graphic, horrible bloody violence and gore and also the swearing is exremely abundant and also it is the cruder words that are said more often. You can however turn the sound effects off. Also don't get this for anyone who is can't tell games from real life or anyone who is naturally angry. There was a case in UK about someone killing a guy with a clawhammer (found in the game) and cops found a copy of Manhunt in his room. If you don't control yourself, this game WILL change you and make you more angry and violent. although well done, there aren't many people i can recommend this game to due to the content matter.
