If you have alot of money to spend and have to play a game now then go for it. I would reccomend Full Spectrum Warrior (same release date.) FPS games are so common now that you should try something new and wait for the REALLY good FPS games that are coming: Doom 3, Halo2, Half-Life 2....yadayadayada. The game is also to short to constitute $50.

So I returned it to find I had the same problem with the next one. Took it back to the retailer and it worked on their console. I have 30 other games that work on my console but this one just would not load or anything. I kept getting that error. So, I called tech support at the developer and they said it's because I have an older version of the Xbox.???? So I have to buy a new Xbox or send mine in for maintenance for $91+shipping. WTF!
good, but way too short for the $50 i paid!

I bought it saturday afternoon, played it all evening, went to bed, got up sunday about 8am, played it all day and finished it before 5pm. Maybe 15 hours of game play on the normal difficulty.
The visuals are great and the interface is easy to use. But I was left with wanting more to do. I was expecting at least a week of game time, not part of a weekend.
Most of the game involves stealth. This is not a run in the middle of your enemies and shoot them all. Hide in the shadows and wait till one comes close and hit him from behind or just sneak around them in some cases.
What A Joke

I bought the Xbox about 3 months ago and yes I like it but I have learned one thing. Every game released for it is extremely overhyped and when it comes out you find out the game is a joke like Riddick. First off no it isn't better then Halo which was a overhyped game but has good controls just like it. The setup is new compared to other games. The charecter models are so narrow and tall looking with everything having more jaggies around it then the best looking PS2 game. Im sorry I just keep finding myself getting lured into overhyped games for the Xbox which turn out horrid. Definatly play first and do not listen to the hype fanboys have given it because there not telling the truth in any way shape or form. Buy Rainbow Six 3 for the Gamecube or pre order Halo 2 instead.
Awesome rental but dont buy it.

this game has the best stealth since splinter cell, one of the most fun fighting things ever, good vo, and good graphics but that is it. Other than that it is easy, repetitive, boring, and no replay value. I played for 8 hours and was on 3rd to last thing. It bored me into selling it. Overall a great rental but dont buy it.

Not that great but Not the worst. Mostly first person shooter and more doom style gameplay and the suffering style prison escape except less scary but the graffics are better but difficult to see clearly all the time. Worst part Riddick doest do very much cool stuff other than hidding and see in the dark but you might like it, it's still fun to shoot stuff
Good game; glitches keep it from being great

PROS:
- Starbreeze Engine (Swedish), excellent visuals and style. Eyeshine purple is pretty.
- real actor's voice (although he's just as thick as a brick in the game as he is in his stupid action movies).
- interesting health regeneration and upgrade system.
- very interesting unexpected cyrosleep level.
CONS:
- Not much enemy variety
- for a FPS - First Person Shooter, this game is low on the shooting. guns are everywhere and much of the time you can't use them.
- multiple very bad glitches: 1) allows you to get significantly far into the game without certain items/weapons you will need later forcing you to restart earlier levels. 2) glitch so bad that it forces you to consult the internet to see what is going wrong in which the game tells you to get on a spaceship (you can try this a million times and it won't work unless you kill Riot Guards, which the game does NOT tell you have to do). 3) other minor glitches too in which NPC scripts fail to activate if the game thinks you did something out-of-order. Happens with prisoner missions and later down in the mines as well... These glitches give the game an automatic -1 star or worse. This is just bad beta or game testing.
- too derivative of Splinter Cell with: hide in shadow, crouch down, knock out, drag body away, etc.
F*#!%NG GAME

I love the Riddick movies & so does my young son; the language is a little dicy sometimes, but my son is pretty responsible and knows not to emulate it (particularly around other kids, or at school, or in public, etc). I'm super proud of him (that's why I let him watch things like these movies sometimes - Riddick is pretty much of a good guy). After checking the game out for a minute or two before I could get upstairs to join him, he told me that he thought the bad language was a bit over-used; way more than represented in the movies. Unfortunately, he was right. It's in the top of the closet now (but I'm sure it's a great game). We both sad; we were really psyched to get it. I really like the Riddick character, and the movies...and Vin Diesel even; but this game has too much unnecessary foul language in it, even for me...and after all, the games (for the most part) are supposed to be for kids, right? With that in mind, I'd skip this one; maybe the next one wlll have better game AND not have to be constantly dropping the "F-Bomb" all over the f-ing place...sorry.
Almost great

I thought this game was brimming with potential. I thought the game looked awesome, very sharp graphics. Even some of the gameplay was neat at first. But I realized, through the game I didn't feel like Riddick at all. I didn't feel smooth, and sly, like some kind of predator or even monster.
What it really boiled down to me was a sub-par shooter with RPG elements mixed in, and horrible stealth play. Now the story itself isn't involving, but what's involving is the fact you get to be Riddick, but I don't feel that Riddick would just run down some hallways shooting a bunch of guards. When I tried to play all stealthy, which works some times, I usually failed and had to run away and get all shot up. I usually do great at stealth games too, I like the character Riddick, but it really isn't presented very well in this game.
What I did like was Vin Deisel's voice acting, which really made the attitude for the game and the character, but the way you have to play through the action parts reminds me of simple DOOM play, not Riddick at all. I really wanted to sneak up on suckers and stick em' or slash em' leaving them in a heap at my feet, but sadly, no, you get seen and annoying "running like a wimp" ensues. When you compare the shooting parts, it's really lame compared to Doom 3 or Half life 2, save yourself the money and letdown and go buy a complete title like those instead, they're longer anyway and give more bang for the buck.
