Dreamcatcher does it again!

They again have created a game with great graphics, great music & sound, and a solid storyline all for an affordable price. This is probably more like a 9 stars out of 10 game (I just couldn't bring myself to only give this a 4), but this adventure is uite awesome. I only have a few complaints. One, you have a cell phone that only helps you 2 or 3 times throughout the game. You get all of these calls and it is nothing but a bunch of annoying gibberish. Two, the story starts to fade the deeper you get into the game until you get closer to the end. And 3, some of the things are repititious and that gets annoying (though this is typical of most puzzle games).
The places you visit are just awesome. Everything is done in high detail and the cutscenes are very well done (the same software used to make Diablo & Warcraft III's cutscenes is used for this game). The sound effects are so real and the music sets the tone for every place you visit. The only other complaint I have are that the puzzles weren't very hard. Everything you find in the game becomes pretty obvious as to where you will use it. The only suggestion I have is to make sure you look at every area or you just my miss something. They seem to like to have alot of activity going on in a room just to distract you from finding an object that you will need to continue. The ending left a little something to be desired, but from what I have read on some gaming sites, a sequel to this game is already on the works. After you beat this game, you can gon back and watch all of the cutscenes over and over again if you want.
This game is no doubt worth the time and the money and it is a very large world with many things to look at and many things to do and many many hours of gameplaying fun. Good luck on your adventure.

Finally a nice adventure game that's in 3rd person. I love it.
I lvoe adventure games like this, but don't like being in 1st person, I get too much into the game it makes me dizzy.
And NO shooting either. GREAT....
Once I installed it, I pretty much played it non stop for 3 days. besides from sleeping :)
I must say I got stuck a few times and cheated, but to me it was still all worth it. Now I want to find more games like this.

Good adventure game. Graphics are fantastic. I was only disapointed that the game ended. Would have loved to have had more game time, seemed a little short. (I guess I was spoiled from Longest Journey)Definately worth playing.

This game is a must get for Adventure Game Fans because it is the best game of its type in a long time. As you would know if you are are a Adventure Game doer, there are not very many of them made any more because to many bad ones spoiled it for the rest. So, get this game because it is very, very good.

Amazing, fun and creative. Syberia is one of the best games that i have bought. You have some very challenging puzzles to solve and some very amazing graphics. If you are looking for a fun and very interesting game....BUY SYBERIA!

Good premise, poor execution

I really liked the premise of this game. I am not a videogame afficionado, I have only played a "Monkey Island" game before this, so admittedly I don't have a lot to compare it to. I like logic puzzles and good stories. This game had lots of puzzles, some of which weren't too logical, but I could overlook that with some online help. The scenery was great! Unfortunately that wasn't enough to make me overlook the very unexpected letdown of an ending and the wimpy female characterization, as well as the trite script and uneven emotional tone in the conversations. I was really expecting a lot from this game based on the synopsis, and the game delivered in scenery, but fell a little short in characterization and storyline.

This game had me at hello!

Wow, all I can say is wow. From the musical score, to the graphics, to the story it told, Syberia was a great old-fashioned adventure game. The characters were charming and the cut scenes were amazing, inspiring more and more play.

The only negative comment I have is that sometimes I just had to go to the walk throughs. Some of the puzzles just weren't intuitive, but then again playing it all day and night probably had something to do with that also.

Where are the mammoths?

I really enjoyed playing this game. The puzzles, overall, were intuitive. I was disappointed when the game ended. It seemed it came too quickly, didn't resolve all of the loose ends, and since so much of the game revolved around mammoths, and seemed to promise them, I expected to see some.

One of the Best Games I've ever played

I don't know where to begin. The best adventure games I've ever played are Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Myst, Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within, and Syberia. I'd give this game more than 5 stars if I could. The storytelling is superb and engaging. You'll fall in love with Kate and Oscar and be so sad when the game is over. There's probably more spoken dialog in here than in a regular movie. A lot of the puzzles are dialog based and you just have to keep talking to people. Getting to the puzzles, this game is really easy compared to others. That was good for me, because I like to focus on the story. I'll give you one puzzle hint, there is a scene where you are told to find a lemon or a lime (I can't recall which one). You will easily find the one not asked for, and that is the one to use. Don't needlessly search around for the other. There are so many games that cloned themselves after this but fell short. Just play this one. It started it all. NOTE: Syberia I and II are one long continuous story. The developer wanted one game, but the publisher made them break it in half for time/money reasons. You have to play both games together to get the whole story. Playing just one is like watching just one of the Matrix movies. I give the Syberia series 100 stars out of 5. It is fun for all ages. A family could get together and play this.

Lovely and fun, short and sweet!

I enjoyed Syberia very much and was disappointed when it ended... although the ending was satisfying, well thought out, and beautiful to watch. I know I will be playing this again.

The makers of Syberia created a intriguing environment. Even being several years in release, it still looks as good, or better, than many newer games. But for some moving water, smoke, and a few birds, it is a static world. Still, the detail in many areas made me stop and marvel. It is a dark environment, but that only adds to the feel of the story and is appropriate.

As with any game, there are areas that the player might wish changed. For me, the phone calls were something of a distraction, even though I realize they were a novel way of presenting clues. But, the voicework was done extremely well- no monotone, lifeless reading of a script here. The whole boyfriend thing was just annoying and added little to Kate Walker's character growth. I started wondering if she and Oscar, the automaton train engineer, might be a better match.

The puzzles are simple and easy. A nice change from some of the harder, nonsensical puzzles of other games, but there were times when I wished there were a little more to them. In one instance, you must repair an automaton creation. While getting into the automaton parts depends on your solving another puzzle, the 'repair' work is nothing more than throwing a lever.

One extra in the game is the menu that allows you access to cutscenes. There are some very lovely scenes, beginning with the rainly funeral procession, and it is a very nice touch. I wish other games would do the same.

If you enjoy games that make you ponder for hours, you will not enjoy Syberia. But, if you are a beginner or want to play a lovely game that won't cause much frustration, then Syberia is for you.

This review was posted earlier, however after playing several more games since then my appreciation for the beauty of Syberia has grown and I wanted my rating to reflect that.
