From a Simpsons Fan

This game is a must have for Simpsons fans. It plays just like the old Crazy Taxi game but with a Simpsons twist. All of your favorite characters are there (except Sideshow Bob), from the Simpson family to Apu and Flanders, vehicles from the show like the Homer's Mr. Plow truck and even the famous "The Homer." I loved trying out all the different characters just to hear what they all said. You can recognize quotes from the show like if your driving Comic Book Guy and you take too long, he'll say "Worst ride ever." The voice overs are amazing and so is the soundtrack.

The Main story line is Mr. Burns takes over all public transport and the people of Springfield need to resort to taking rides from others in the city. There is a Mission mode where different objectives need to be completed but there are only 10 and if you can't beat one, you just play it 10 times and then skip it. Once you beat all the missions you unlock another vehicle.

The road rage mode sets you in one of 6 places in the Springfield universe, Evergreen Terrace is the only place avialable at the start. As you progress you have the oppourtunity to unlock new cars and people or unlock new maps to ride on. You only start out with the Simpson family (and Grandpa my favorite) but as you unlock new characters and maps in single player, you can use them in Head to Head.

Multi Player Head to Head involves you and one friend racing around a map trying to get the one available passenger. Once someone picks him up however, the other player can ram into you and take the passenger. This is where knowing the shortcuts on a map come in handy. Each passenger you deliver is worth $1000 and you race to get to a set amount.

Honestly, playing alone got boring after a while but I still love playing against friends and hearing all of Abe Simpsons funny things to say.

How's the video game, boy? // It's craptacular!

There really is some extent to which a game developer can't go wrong if they stick to the core qualities of The Simpsons for a Simpsons game. It has to have the right look and the right off-kilter sense of humor. With those, it's guaranteed a C minus. That said, I would give this game a C. It has a few qualities that make it pleasant above and beyond the Simpsons branding.

The graphics look Simpsonesque, if somewhat blocky. There are minor clipping problems, but the real problem is the continually mediocre quality of the graphics. Two-D cel shaded cartoon characters can be drawn with only a few colors and some lines, but once images are rendered in three dimensions more lighting is needed to show the shapes of the models. With only a strange 'ambient' light to the game, faces all fade into flat anonymity and props go from simple to primitive. What's worse, the game map loses so much definition as it zooms out (a zoom that is beyond the player's control) that the roads can become nearly unreadable. They're certainly unreadable if the player tries to keep an eye on the road. The often-primitive graphics look like they belong on N64. Only the high number of objects and frame rate show off what the GameCube can do.

The concept is decent -- clearly stolen from Crazy Taxy, but fine nonetheless. Its execution, though, is sub-par. Carrying one character at a time between a small number of destinations leads to highly repetitive gameplay, and the repetition is echoed in the character's snappy remarks. Even though the game has many new-for-Road Rage quotes, it's easy to get through all of them in a few hours and quickly get sick to death of them. A one-liner is only funny so many times in rapid succession. Worse still, the game's routines for having characters speak seems very poorly thought out. They will often remark in quick succession about both your excellent and poor driving, they will speak long after you've dropped them off, and they will simultaneously address you by name and speak as if you are not in the car. "Hi, Bart! Take me to Bart's house!"

The final insult is the awful load and save programming. It takes nearly a minute to load some levels, and just as long to leave them for the high score tables. Further, if your memory card has a Road Rage game but is full, the game will complain that it can't save -- although it clearly can, to the existing save game. You can ignore the warning, but it's a needless delay and hassle.

As a rental, this game was well worth six dollars for six days. It's just enough time to free a few more characters and courses. The prospect of spending fifty dollars on it, however, seems to be a losing one.

Alot of ignoramuses have been saying this game is bad just because they are too stupid to know the differences between a PS2 and their Gramma's VCR. Sure, if you already have Crazy Taxi, you shouldn't buy a new copy of this. However, if you don't have either and are trying to decide between the two, go with Road Rage. There can be no real comparison between it and Crappy Taxi.

Who cares about Crazy Taxi?

Now, I know some of you will take one look at this game and say, "PSHHHT, this is just a rip-off of Crazy Taxi!" I know it is, BUT IT'S MORE FUN!!! And isn't that what's important in the end??? It's just like Crazy Taxi but it's a lot more entertaining because it actually lets you hit people!!!!! (I know that sounds evil but it is fun.) The levels are also a lot more crazy than "Crazy" Taxi's--Take Springfield Dam for example. You can launch yourself off it!! It's also fun listening to what all the characters have to say, and i found it fun recognizing people and places from the show as i drove by. And finally, head-to-head mode is AWESOME, and it's not found in Crazy-Taxi!!!! Two people each try to pick someone else up before the other (which can result in off-road insanity and the smashing of trees and signs), and once someone has the person, the other player can steal them by ramming into their car!! The main object is to deliver the person to where they want to go before the other player. Also, I know this game is rated T, but I don't think it should be because there isn't really anything bad other than you can hit people, but there's no blood they simply fly off your car. So don't be afraid to let your kids play this. When choosing between this and Crazy Taxi: GET THIS!!!

I received this game for Christmas, and it's one of the best games ever!! My family and I play this game all the time, the multiplayer is fun for the whole family! This game is very high in replay value, because you have to raise 1 million$ to buy back the bus system from Mr. Burns. Along the way, you'll be able to unlock new levels and cars. The city of Springfield is jam-packed with familiar locales, like The Simpsons house, Kwik-E-Mart, Moe's Tavern, Springfield Elementary, The Nuclear Power Plant, Springfield Mall, Krusty Burger, even Moe's ramshackled house, and many many many many more! You can fly through the streets, crashing cars and flipping them, drive off bridges and highways, run over pedestrians, smash through trees, mailboxes, playground equipment, even Groundskeeper Willy's shack, and practically anything you see. You can pick as your driver Homer,Marge,Bart,Lisa,Flanders,Moe,Snake,Rev. Lovejoy,Prof. Frink,Otto, and many more, who all have their signature cars, like Homer in the station wagon, Marge in the Canyonero, Otto in his bus, Snake in Lil' Bandit, Krusty in his clown car, Mr. Plow (Homer) in his snow plow, and Moe in his flower sedan. Everybody you see in the show is practically in the game, either as drivers, passengers, or pedestrians, and they all say hilarious phrases, like Homer saying "Did I do great or really great" or "D'oh!", Frink saying "There is so much driving, and crashing, and the hoy-glavin!" or "The collision! It hurts mee!" and Moe saying "Hope you didn't puke" or "Ow! I sat on my 'roids!" which will keep you laughing the whole trip through town. This is immediatly worth buying, and no Gamecube owner should be without this game. BUY! IT! NOW!

Sure you will find this for PS2 & XBOX. But belive me, get it for Gamecube. ...The Simpsons Road Rage, sure it is a copy of Crazy Taxi but a whole 4 stars better. In this game, in Road Rage mode you use a simpson carntoon charater to drive people to diffrent places in a certain amount of time dipending on the distence. For doing this you get some big bucks! When you get a certain amount of cash you get a reward. Either you unlock a new town or unlock a new driver and vehicle. In mission mode you have to do a mission in a certain amount of time. Get it? Good. Well this is defenetly a must have for all Gamecube owners!

This is a fun game. Especially, if you are a Simpsons fan! The game play is exactly like Crazy Taxi. This game is most fun playing with someone. The comments that the caracters make can get repetitative, so switch characters often. Also, I found I couldn't play this game for much longer than an hour at a time. But with friends for short amounts of time, a great game.
