I loved the game until I was locked up in a prison cell on a planet and In couldn't find my way to fight the big guy there. I tried it 6 times and got very pissed off.
well, you are a jedi

Jedi Academy is pretty much a let down. If I just use Jedi Outcast as a reference point, and got something equal to it, then I would have been completly happy. But I didn't. The good points are that you get to hack up bad guys with light sabers and use the force. A few of the missions are also kind of cool (the Hoth mission, and Darth Vader's castle). But that is it. The graphics are nearly the same, if not worse. And considering that I have had all kinds of crashes, lockups and performance problems that I diodn't have with Jedi Outcast, at all, something seems wrong. The levels are dull, boring, simple, and easy. If there were any puzzles, I didn't notice. Basically, you started a level, hacked up some bad guys, and went on to the next. Visually, the maps were uncreative, and reptitive. You seemed to leave one room, to enter another that looked just like it. It is a shame that Lucasarts took such a great opportunity to produce another great game, and instead put out what seems to be a product that had very little thought, or concern put into it. How you can follow up Jedi Outcast with a game that isn't even close in challenge or creativity is beyond me.
One of the Best Star Wars Games Ever Made

I really enjoyed this game. Nice progression, fairly standard story, but some of the small points really give J.A. some gaming cred. I LOVE being able to defeat an enemy by force pushing over a side. It is lamentable that you don't get to see more of the aftermath-ie one of those slow mos of the body hittin lava. I took out a number of High jumpin dark Jedi this way. It just never gets old.
Towards the end of the game I could force push/pull an imperial trooper until he dropped his gun and then shoot him with it.
It was too short and the story line was fairly straight forward to earn 5 stars, but you will absolutely enjoy playing this game!
DONT BUY WARNING

Do not buy this game. It sucks. there is no plot, and it is twice as short as the last two. All you do is go on stupid missions to become a jedi. Then you go to some temple and Tavion is there bringing back a dead dude and you kill her. Very boring. Nothing like the last two. If you still like Dark Forces do not buy this game.
best internet play ever!!

first the complaint. I just bought myself a Dell Dimension 8400 with P4 3.0 Ghz, 512 MB of RAM, and an ATI Radeon X300 SE with 128MB of Video Ram. This is a powerhouse computer.
I played Call of Duty, which graphically is a more advanced game than Jedi Academy, and finally had it play perfectly smoothly. It was such fun to do so. I then popped in Jedi Academy to test its performance in a faster environment (before I had a P4 2.0 Ghz, 64 MB NVIDIA GeForce 4, and 256 MB of RAM), and I was disappointed. I put the highest settings (1024x768, 32 bit color, high graphics) and the game ran choppy! I put it on "normal" settings, and the game STILL ran choppy. How is it possible that Call of Duty runs perfect, but Jedi Academy runs choppy? It doesn't make sense...
Anyway, you can set the graphic settings to the lowest (which is what I did), and it will play smoothly, but you won't get any of the graphics benefits. The game, however, is fun.

Forget KOTOR have you seen the new trailer on the website!!You can see footage of making a lightsaber and character!Just to say something you can only have one lightsaber in the beginning in the game. But later on you can be a Anakin Skywalker dual lightsaberist,a Dath Maul with a Saberstaff,or just be a single Lightsaberist like Luke Skywalker. The Character selection looks wonderfull. When you begin you go to the Academy a train to be a Jedi or betray the Jedi and join the Sith.Take your pick the Academies are waiting for.Are you up the challenge, are you?
Alot of fun!

I have never played any of the games that came before Jedi Academy in the series. So, I cannot compare it to those. Anyways, I certainly do not regret this purchase. This game sucked up a great deal of my free time and I was happy to give that time up. My only criticism is that I didn't feel you really had many choices in the customization of ones character.
