I have played all the Starfleet games and sims. This one is classic both in execution and technical game play. It accurately details hundreds of ships. This game is true to the original Starfleet Command board game. Yes it is several years old but it is the best of the best for strategic and tactical combat. The LAN multiplayer support is also done really well. Buy it! Enjoy it! live long and prosper!

A Superior Simulator

First let me state that the interface takes a bit of getting used to AND for you old time Star Fleet Battles people, there are some changes to the way things are managed ship-wise.

Okay, when I got used to everything by running the various tutorials (which were quite fun - you get to blow some things up), you finally can go and play against the computer.

The AI is pretty good. I haven't found very many ways to fool things. I found that when an opportunity presented itself, no matter how small, the computer would attempt to take advantage of it (i.e. firing on a weak or down shield, speeding up to gain range from your heavy weapons).

The graphics are excellent. It made me smile to see that they kept the 2-D look and feel of SFB, and being a fan of the miniatures I liked it that they kept the ship types and shapes also. With this game things hop and the stuff flies! The drones are very well done. Especially when running frigates you can actually see detail on them as they pass by!

Anyway, this game is really addictive and I have already burnt too many hours playing it. Well worth the money!

BTW, you do not need to buy any of the previous Starfleet computer products. This one has all that the previous ones have and more (I own all of them). So save your money for any future expansions of this product. Enjoy!

Very good game, only one bug....

This is a good game: great graphics, interesting story, a very satisfying assortment of weapons and you get an up-close view of the Soveriegn Class Federation starship (nice looking main shuttle bay, and big too!).

BUT: Before installing the game, make sure that you have DirectX 9 compatible video and audio hardware and drivers installed on your computer or else the game will completely lock up your PC on the second part of the game. I had to download new drivers for ATI video card and Soundblaster sound card to fix this problem.

Other than that, this game is better than the first Elite Force in many ways and its worth the $$.

Great game for all ST:TNG fans

Star Trek Bridge Commander is a great game and its unique "on the bridge" feeling makes it a great game for all trekers, but the fun dosen't last too long. It's a great game to come back to after not playing it for 5 months but that does not mean that I regret buying it. Graphically Bridge Commander is great, the ships practically flew out of the show and the phasers ant torpedoes look fantastic, however "For every good, there is evil" (see Star Trek: Nemesis). The lip syncing is the worst in history. There mouths move in a set pattern no matter what there saying making it look like a horribly badly dubbed Godzilla movie, but if you dont care about lip syncing, then GET THIS GAME!

Ooh. Aah. BANG!

This is a fabulous first person shooter. You play Lt. Alex Munro, leader of an elite force of tactical officers known as the Hazard Team. With a large variety of various weapons like the phaser and Bat'leth, an intense multiplayer and a movie-like single-player, this game tops many others.
The Game is rated "T" for a reason. The many aliens in the game sometimes - how can I put this nicely - explode. But the rest of the game makes up for this.
Recommended for those who like Star Trek, first person, and shooters.

Good, if scripted

I recently finished playing this game, and I have mixed feelings. I gave it four stars for the graphics, sound, gameplay (overall), and because it was a pleasing distraction. But I took one star off because of how heavily scripted it is. There was no chance for exploration at all, you went from point to point like a mouse in a maze. The multiplicity of levels was nice, but I would've traded half of them for some more parts of other levels (like the Dallas level, or the Idryll ruins, etc, places where you wouldn't expect so many locked doors). I recommend it for killing some time (you can complete it in under 10 hours straight).

I Love This Game

My dad researched Star Trek games and bought this for me based on the recommendations of others. I think Bridge Commander is a very cool game. If you like TNG, you can't go wrong buying this. I have dozens of PC games, but I have spent more time playing this than any other.

Wonderful Game

This game is great! The single player story line is emersive and interesting, and to play campaigns from 3 different races is fantastic. You get to play as the bad guys, the good guys and the trigger happy allies to the good guys.

The multiplayer is great as well. It uses dynaverse 3 with is like a Starship RPG (Well sort of.) It also has a skirmish setting for immediate firefights.

The only problem with this game is the lack of a patch, which means the multiplayer crashes a about 30-45% of the time. Not very good. Otherwise this game is excelent with many ships of varying design and streangths. I.E. A Warbird has different weapons and systems than a Sovereign.

Single player great, multiplayer technically challenging

SINGLE PLAYER: GREAT! Very Long and involved story, fun sub plots occuring in the background.

MULTIPLAYER: Very Fast. Weapons hit hard, this is not a game where you take a little damage and run around looking to get healed.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Their support has responded, during the business week, within 1 day to any inquiry. When they have offered support, it has been accurate. No Support of console features, such as cheat modes or hosting your own server.

ONLINE PLAY TECHNICAL ASPECTS: You can not host and play on the internet on the same machine. Two machines are required. Only one player per license can play on line at any given time. LAN play does not have these restrictions.

Make it so...

Fun game but very heavy on the processor. Hope you have a PC above 1GHz.
