This game is not the best. i'm glad it's out. I just ordered one. It has lots of different classes of ships, and lots of warping your ships around. Also there is a really cool Borg campaign. Besides that everything suxs.
Way to many bugs. . .

I was exited about the game, but could not get it to run long enough to enjoy it.
Activision was unwilling to assist in troubleshooting, but Best Buy was nice enough to take the bug ridden game back.
To bad because it started out good till it kept crashing.

I am reviewing Judgement Rites(though all of the ST game reviews are clumped together)
Of all of the Star Trek(and other kinds) of games I have played nothing compares to STJR(Star Trek Judgement Rites) It has excellent dialogue(by ALL of the star trek crew of the 60's series.) It has flight-sim space battles using resources and battle stratedgies and it has on world adventures where you, as Captain James Kirk, act and re-act as do your NPC's in the game. Dialogue choices are endless. Most missions have quirky funny moments with Dr. McCoy and Spock(and Kirk sometimes when iritated with the two of them). This is a game where you put your intelligence and not just your clicking dexterity(phasers on stun-uh I mean Kill!) to the test. No game made to day compares. So what if the graphics are cartoonish, they ain't bad for 1993 when it was released. You get to pilot the Enterprise, visit different planets, and poke fun at Spock, what more could you want?
Unfortunately it isn't for sale anymore(what DOS game is?) If you want to run it, try VDM sound or DOS box 6.0.

For starters, for those of you who want to try, this game does not install on Intel Celeron processors. Secondly, this game is fun for about two hours and then becomes tedious and boring. If the Taldren/Activison alliance wanted to put out a "good" game, then they should have spent more time beta testing ( gee, other software companies do it so why shouldn't they ).

A great game with more features than I was expecting. You don't have to play the pirates, you can join any other original empires in the game. There are dozens (hundreds?) of ships available so the game never gets dull - there is always something new to try.

Overall, this game was a meduim on the scale. One big plus is that it doesn't require the original Star Trek: Startfleet Command II to run. But, the graphics were poor, and the lack of a substantial storyline had a major inpact. Also, there were many variations on ship classes. It gets confusing, remembering which ship you bought when.
If I had a choice, I would use my money on the next game up, Star Trek: Starfleet Command III. It removes most of the flaws mentioned above, and it has a very good replay value. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at cloudmouse@gmail.com. Thank you!

When I first heard that activision was making a sequel to Armada 1 I was overjoyed. Because though Armada 1 is a great game there are so many things that could be better. The main thing was the graphics. They were good for the time but they could have been better. In Armada 2 the graphics are indeed superior. Also the game field is in full 3D unlike Armada 1 in which it was 3D on a 2D plane. In this version there are 6 playable races instead of the original 4 and each of the 3 campaigns has 10 mission instead of the original 4. I could go on like this all day but I want to play the game! It is well worth the money and I recommend it fully to any Star Trek or RTS gaming fan.
