Painfully dull, uncreative, and way over hyped.

After weeks of enduring endless tedium, witnessing extremely obscene and creepy behavior from adults, as well as the constant bugs, glitches, and long delays before the addition of new content
being incorporated in the game, I finally decided to cut my losses and unsubscribe.
This game was advertised in a way that make its appear that its way more than it actually is. I cannot begin to convey how stupid I feel for falling for the hype of this.

This game was released way before it should have been and is simply not what was promised. The casino objects shown in every preview were not even incorporated until recently and currently are limited to one area. There is now trade but no actual economy. There are game objects in the game that help you build your skills up and make money.

Each lot is basically an individual chatroom where all you do is chat while your Sim works on its skills or fufills its needs in a very slow manner. Strict limits and rules make it exceedingly difficult to accomplish anything worthwhile and in essence diminishes what little fun there is.
The majority of places are dance clubs, hotels, and skilling sites and theres an occasional phony wedding between two players. It was fun for the first week but it became tedious constantly doing the same things.

I admit I made quite a few friends and that was probably the only part of the game I enjoyed but most of them have moved on or are planning to and a chat room with a pretty interface just wasn't enough for me to continue playing.

Aside from making friends, there just wasn't much incentive to go on. Its apparent the hype for this game was a tactic generated by the game publisher. This is one learning experience that I intend never to repeat again and that is don't fall for the hype for anything, because you'll only end up disappointed.

Game is still BETA, but would stink even if it worked.

When are game companies going to learn that people do not like paying to be beta testers. Even in the shipping game, there are a ton of options that are "turned off".

To add to this, the game simply is **not fun**. Imagine The Sims, minus the career ladder, minus downtown, minus vacations, minus pets, and with less interesting social interaction. Yes, the social interaction in offline sims is actually better than the social interaction in online sims. That is sad.

Good idea, very poorly executed. Shame on you if you are a Maxis shill promiting this game. It was clearly rushed out for Christmas.

I *am* looking forward to Simcity 4. Maxis should stick to what it knows (offline "sandbox" games, not MMORPGs).

Tired of being a strung along PAY tester

I never believed the negative reviews about this game.
But once I experienced it for myself after purchasing it, I now understand.
This game is not only incomplete, it is way over advertised as being something that its not. For example, on the box it says "Includes nearly all the faces, clothes, and objects from The Sims and the first four expansion packs". While most of the objects from the expansions ARE in the game, and on your hard drive already, MOST OF THEM HAVE YET TO BE ACTIVATED. And with the huge wait between objects it could take months before all of them will be activated.

After 3 months, 11 in-game features are NOT yet activated. New content arrives has been few and far between and has only slightly increased due to the fact that many players have left the game. When players make inquiries, we were greated with excuses and broken promises.

I really made an effort to like this game but in all fairness, its hard being patient for new content to arrive when you feel like you are being scammed or strung along. As a consumer, I resent being taken for granted by a big company. I didn't pay to beta test a game. I understand games of this nature needing to be updated frequently but the countless patches, constant downtimes, bugs and glitches are getting ridiculous. I finally had enough of the repetitive -monotony of doing the same things over and over so I unsubscribed. This game is just not worth the stress. Stick with the offline game, at least its open ended and you'll be getting your money's worth.

This is NOT a game. This is monthly chat service!

The Sims Online is a multiuser interactive enviroment, where its users can perform various actions, mainly chatting and interacting with objects in the world. Some of the objects are there for gaming, some are there for other, different purposes.

A game has an enviroment that is dedicated for 'gaming'. You login, play, and possibly also do other things on the side (like chatting with other players), however these other things are always "smaller" in comparison of the larger goal which is to get on with it and play.

The Sims Online emphasis is more on the social structure rather then the gameplay.

For game developers to call this an actual game is reprehensible.

Except for the shallow objectives of trying to become the most popular or wealthiest, there simply is not much to do. Its basically boring and pointless and chatting is not the biggest incentive to continue on a montly basis.

If you want a game that has a little more challenge and depth, then skip this game because buying this will bring you nothing but
boredom, tediousness and stress.

I can only say to EA "WHY??!!"

This game isn't that bad, but it gets very old REALLY QUICK[.]

I bought this game and for the first two days I couldnt even play because the stupid server from EA was down (or thats what they told me). Well whatever, so I started to play the game and I thought "WOW!!! this game is so cool, it is totally worth the 50 bucks I spent and the 10 bucks a month!!" (yup thats right you HAVE to pay 10 bucks a month to play!)

Well, after a week or so and playing from 3 PM to 3 AM I sat infront of my Dell thinking "What in the world posessed me to buy this game??!!" I got kicked out of my Sim-House by my Sim-Roomate, I was hit on by people that are so weird that they become prostitutes in order to make some money in this game (It is next to impossible to make money), and even though I had full skills in one category, the Job opportunities were horrible. This game gives you little options as to what your Sim can do.

In conlusion, I think you should NOT buy this game. If you dont listen to me and buy The Sims Online, the first week will make you say "WOW!! This is the greatest game ever created" After that first week, the honeymoon's over and you find yourself canceling your subscription to EA, and uninstalling this game to regain the 1.5 GBs that you lose!! DO NOT BUY!...

Beware of TSO

The game is not finished so it's very BORING. You will be financing it's completion.

You have to supply a credit card to play. Once you supply the credit card it will be next to impossible to cancel your subscription. It can be done only by phone by calling to India which requires you to learn a second language.

Consumer beware !!!!

Wait a year and then check the reviews...

This game is a huge waste of moneyas it stands now. The people who love it have merely gotten addicted to the people of TSO, not the game itself. You can find great people to make friends with anywhere on the internet for free. Why pay for it? The game is terrible. At first it seems really cool, but after awhile you spend most of your time surfing the internet while your sim studies or works on skills. There seem to be a lot of children playing TSO without supervision as well. I personally, have no desire to be 'hot kissed' by a ten year old.

When I pay money for a game, I want it to work well. I want all of the features to be turned on. Those still playing, are just waiting for the 'cool' stuff to be turned on. So many people are cancelling their subscriptions, that now it has become almost impossible to do so. You have to go through several customer service depts just to cancel! They will badger you about quitting, asking if you are sure you played the game right. What does that tell you?

The game as it stands now is a total failure. Wait a year or so, and then read the reviews. Maybe by then it will actually be a game.

Fun Chatroom but a boring, half finsished game

While its fun for the first few weeks to be a Sim and chat with
people, the novelty of it quickly wears thin when you end up following the same routine of gameplay everyday.

This game needed six months more of fixing and tweaking before being released to the public but unfortunately they didn't go that route so there are still a great deal of bugs and new content is being added at a snail's pace.

Unfortunately I have neither the time or patience to continue to wait so I am planning to unsubscribe. The game gets two stars because of the chatting part but thats NOT enough for me to continue paying for it on a monthly basis.

In closing I think it is very bad for a huge company to take consumers for granted. As consumers, you need to show them this, even if it means unsubscribing and not supporting half completed games. This was just a poorly developed game. Don't encourage big companies by continuing to pay for shoddy product because it will only encourage them to release more half completed products.

Don't waste your time or your money!

PLEASE do not buy this game for kids.

It won't let me rate this lower than 1 star. It certainly is not a 1 star game. It's a negative 5 star game. I can't describe how bad this game is, or how much of your time it will waste. You would have more fun spending your money in SO MANY OTHER WAYS! Promised updates to this game do not come. If you build a house, nobody will come to it. Your sim will spend most of your time sleeping, eating, and peeing. And you are forced to interact with people whether you want to or not, or your "social" level will go too low. The only way to make decent 'money' playing in this is to get in a multi-player action with several other sims, but the other sims will not cooperate. There is a "test city" where the updates are added and tested. But to get in there, you have to download (at last check) over 6 mb of stuff. Then to get back to your 'regular' sim, you have to download that much stuff again. When I installed this game, it erased my Netscape bookmarks. I could go on and on with negatives about this game. If you're still considering buying it, poke yourself in the eye. Did you enjoy that? Well then I guess you might like sims. If you hated it, we think alike and you can take my advice and save your money and time!!

You'll be sorry If you buy this game.

This game was released for BETA testing in October/November and STILL contains the same bugs even after it's release to the general public. Most people that have bought the game, on or after December 17th, are already threatening cancellation of their subscriptions.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy this game! Find another game to which you can spend the $... for the game and ... monthly subscription.
