I Am Batman.

I bought this game for one reason, and one reason alone: I wanted to drive the Batmobile.

I bring home the game, pop it in. I was impressed. Excellent graphics, similar storlyine to the movie, featuring all the actors doing voices for their corresponding parts, snippets of footage from the movie injected here and there. Fair enough. The first level was entertaining, but once the novelty of jumping out of a burning building as Batman wears off, what's left? My major complaint is the lack of free-will the game gives you. In order to get to where you need to be, you have to follow the on-screen instructions. You want to use your Batarang? Nope, not 'til the game tells you to! You want to go fight those criminals? Nope, the game requires you scare them first. You wanna open that door? You damn well better use your fiber optic cable to look behind it first! After playing this game for the first 30 minutes, I grew tired of it. Not feeling like there was much gameplay to be had with it, I spent a few weeks playing it here and there, without much passion. It gets better as it goes along, surprisingly. But the kicker is when, halfway through the game, you unlock the Batmobile! From here on out, I have to say, we have a great game. It takes a while to get to the good stuff, but it's worth it. As you pass each level, you can unlock special features which include Alternate Batsuits, Batmobile missions, the Gallery Of Fear (where you stroll through Arkham Asylum) and plenty of footage from the movie (which would probably be better if the movie isn't already out on DVD, sitting on my shelf). Part of why this game may be getting bad reviews could very well be due to people getting impatient. However, if you do your time with this game, you will be rewarded. It might not be as exciting as other games in your library, but surely, it's one of the better Batgames that I've played in my time.

Great game!

I've just finished the game and i have to say this is really great!
It really fits in well with the film, using the same actors voices and the characters look very similiar to their real-life counterparts.

As well as Batman, you get to play as Bruce Wayne in training before he becomes batman and also as Bruce in a tuxedo in a level which has the Wayne Manor in flames. Very cool.

The driving bits are great fun as well, very Burnout, with extra racing modes being unlocked after you beaten those levels.

The main gameplay consists of a mixture of combat and stealth. If Batman comes accross a group of heavily armed enemies, he will end up dyingh if he tries to tackle them directly. you need to use stealth to sneak up on them or even beter use your fear-gadgets or a batarang on your surroundings (e.g throw your batarang at a gas-pipe to burst it), to scare them a bit beforehand, making defeating the enemies easier.

The game isn't too difficult (though the combat seems to be a lot tougher in Challenging mode) and took me about 9 or 10 hours to beat in Normal mode.

The graphics are simply amazing. The levels graphics are some of the best i've seen on a GameCube game and the Batman charcater looks very cool in his bausuit and cape.

The game could have had a bit less linear with more ways of solving the situations that you come accross but at least it means you never get stuck for too long.

The controls are pretty straight forward, with 2 butons for combat (punch & kick) as well as another button for soing special finishing moves and other buttons for batarang and fear gadgets.

Best Batman Game

This is the best Batman game since Batman Returns for NES. The game has elements that remind you of Splinter Cell, with the stealth moves, but much simpler and easier to pull them off. It has a radar like the one y Metal Gear Solid. It also has a lot of acrobatics as the ones in Prince of Persia, but the obstacles are not as challenging. Still it's a fun game to play, best of all is not a game that will frustrate you. It also has three dificulty levels, should you need a bigger challenge or if you are a novice player you can play in easy mode.
The Graphics are great and as all EA licensed games you get some live action cutscenes, and the character likeness' is amazing. The voice acting is done by all of the main characters, but Gary Oldman as Gordon. Sound effects are pretty good, you can't expect less from EA.
The story differs a little from the movie, but in escence it follows the movie plot. The game is short even for non dedicated gamers and if you have beaten the above mentioned games, this one will be a walk on the park.
I think is a better game than it is given credit for, but you should better rent it. If you are a Batman fan I would suggest to wait for it to drop price, because it is over very fast.

Batman Begins - This is one of the better games...

This game reminds me of Catwoman because of the style of play and fighting. The fighting in this game is really easy. There are only a few moves.
I have gone through many gamecube games looking for the best ones. I am into graphics. I am also into action games.
This game is definately better than catwoman and is worth buying especially if you are a fan of batman. His suit looks great and his movements are cool. His voice is pretty scratchy though... he sounds like he just woke up most of the time.
I love the bad guys in this game. It seems to have a good story line. The driving part of the game is pretty fun.
I loved the graphics in catwoman, but later realized that the replay value of the game was terrible. Batman begins CAN be boring at times but is still fun to play and a fairly addictive.

Even though this game is rated T for teens, my 6 yr. old already beat it. He got it for his 6th birthday & it was all the rave-HE JUST HAD TO HAVE THE BATMAN GAME! I realize the overall content is a bit graphic for someone his age but he always played it under adult supervision. It is an extremely compelling game & difficult to put down once you get started. We never even saw the movie but it didn't matter because the game is extremely depictive of the what goes on it. This game is DEFINITELY recommended for any Batman fan.

Batman Begins is not only one of the best batman games i have played in awhile, but one of the best games in general i have played in awhile. Not quite good enough for the big five stars. After a couple dissapointing batman games such as "Rise Of Sin Tzu" and "Dark Tommorow", Batman Begins is a breath of fresh air. The gameplay is excellent, story line is deep, and cutscenes arent bad either. I Would recommend this game to both advanced and casual gamers. Excellent game overall.

Short, but good.

This is my first batman game... or the first one I can remember. I played one when I was 5 on Sega Genesis and on Cartoon network. This one is the best I've played. The movie was great, 5 stars. Game was solid but not the greatest.

Pros:
*Fear meter was cool
*Splinter Cell/Burnout
*Some fighting moves.

Blessing/Curse: No Splinter Cell Stealth or Darkness meter. It is nice that you don't need to be in darkness all the time and that you don't need to be quiet. It made it easier, but for splinter cell fans, you might be thrown off in the beggining.

Cons:
* Fear meter isn't as great as you would think.
* Not enough burnout levels.
* Only a few levels. Short game, long levels. Let's put it this way, It takes 3 hours to finish the Asylum level, and one 15 minute level tops to get out.
* Not enough movie similarity. Some cutscenes but some great moments, such as interogating flass were taken out.
* Lots of checkpoints, but some if you turn off the games, you have to restart the level. For some people, 3 hours straight is a lot. It starts to get annoying.

End: Watch the movie, rent the game, Buy Splinter Cell.

BECOME BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was considering buying this game, the first thing I did was to go and read the other people's reviews on it. I read a heck lot about how it was too "restrictive": not letting you do what you want to do when you want to do it. Overall, I got the impression that this game was not super good.

Well, I'm going to rephrase all that right now.

This game is THE BEST, especialy if you are a Batman freak like I am. The only flaw in it is the mild language that frequently gets spewed out of the filthy crooks' mouths when they see the giant bat dropping down on them. Turn the volume down and you're good!

Even if you are not a Batman nut like I am, you will enjoy this game for it's clever layout and plot, which is like the movie but not quite identical to it (which I like). It has great levels, including patroling Gotham City and driving the Batmobile; so you get to accomplish all of Batman's skills!

I would definately recomend this game to anyone who wants to try their hand at Batman's great skills or just plain wants to have a sweet time when they bring out their Gamecube.

Batman Begins....very easily

Batman Begins is based on the hit summer movie and best ever big screen adaptation of the Dark Knight character. It features the same all-star cast that made the movie great, as well as beautiful visuals that bring the movie to life. It also features many ideas and gameplay styles that fans have been waiting for in a Batman game. The problem? It's too easy.

The biggest failure of this game is that it had the potential to offer open-ended free-roaming gameplay, but instead restricts players to a set path, with a very specific way to get through that path. The game won't let you try other options to get around bad guys and puzzles, or if you do you'll pretty much wind up dead. How does the game restrict players? A good example is the use of the batarang. Batman can only hurl his trademark weapon at specific highlighted areas. He can *never* throw it at enemies, and he can never throw it at anything except the highlighted spot.

Everything just feels too pre-scripted. The game relies heavily on triggering things such as explosive barrels, falling platforms, etc. to scare enemies. These are supposed to make the environment feel interactive, but since you can't get through the level without activating them, they end up feeling tired and not very spontaneous. Even more puzzling is that while the game wants players to stay "hidden" and disarm their enemies through fear, after the thugs drop their guns you have to swoop down and beat them in hand-to-hand comabt anyway. It would've been cooler (and more Batman-like) to pick them off one by one from the shadows.

More game mechanics fail to impress. Interrogation is nothing more than grabbing an enemy and pressing 'b' until they spill their guts out. You can't stop the interrogation until you get what you need, and there's also no way to get wrong information or false information either. It's all basically a cutscene that pretends to be interactive. The Batmobile levels also feel pretty bland, and just don't offer any excitment or variety.

Still, the game's presentation oozes tons of style and Batman goodness. It's a treat hearing Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson and the others voicing their characters. And the character models look exactly like the actors, and is some of the best facial modelling I've ever seen. This is pretty much the reason to try out the game.

Batman Begins is good in concept, bad in execution. It's playable and enjoyable, but at the same time it feels very restricted and linear. Really, this game wouldn't be half as fun if the Batman license weren't there to support it. Hardcore Batman fans should add this to their collections if they find it used or discounted. Everyone should stick with a rental to see the authenticity of the movie license.

Best Batman game ever!!!!!!!!
