Nice darn game, especially for the price

Unfortunately, this game got some bad early writeups because of a semi-weak demo released a couple weeks before the game itself.

However, the new engine is great and smooth, and the new game is well true to the originals. Wide open space shootouts (loved in the originals) aren't quite as common due to the improved ability to handle more things on-screen in closer areas, but this game *rocks* no matter what.

Great graphics, great gameplay, great humor, and one of the smoothest engines out there. Secrets, different strategies, etc., lead to ready replay, as well.

Fully recommend, especially for the price. As far as I'm concerned, this is what games should be like. Now that a new engine has been developed, hopefully sequels are on the horizon as quickly as they occurred with the original Serious Sams.

Outstanding as far as I'm concerned, and fully recommended. Very polished and *almost* 100% bug-free, too.

Especially if you've played prior games in the Serious Sam series, this is a no-brainer.

Excellent game

I played the first 2 Serious Sam games and loved them. I feel that there is MORE graphics in this version for those who know how to set the graphics right for their computer systems of course. This game runs best on AT LEAST 2.2 GHZ of processor speed and at least an Nvidia Geforce 5700 Ultra. This game like others are pushing the limits for graphics so updating will be necessary no matter what. I will have to disagree with the person who only gave this one star. He also rated everything else in his review list bad to, so that person has a very negative outlook on something like Serious Sam 2 that he simply did not enjoy like I did. And they have a LOT of monsters to kill and enemies and more so than in the last game. The outside graphics are more varied now. This is NOT meant to be exactly the same as the first game and they added the flying machines Sam can use which I like to. More weapons and a great game for the price at 29 bucks on Amazon. To the one who missed out, shame on you!!!

The Most Serious Game Of All Time

Serious sam II could possibly be the best thing to happen to computer gaming since nVidia's SLI came on the market. So Fun, So Colorful, and infinite replay value, unlike some other games, such as HALO, Half-life and DOOM, which are boring as hell after you play them once. not sam. the only thing that never changes is the dialogue and the location of buildings. (no, wait, that changes in the last level) anyhow, this could be the most wonderful game i've ever played. Even though i only have the Minimum system requirements, it still looks great at 800x600 res on my ancient CRT monitor driven off an old nVidia FX5500 card. if you have a top-of-the-line graphics card (prefferably nVidia, not that ATI stuff), then i definitely recommend this game.

A Shooter with a sense of Humor.

Serious Sam 2 is an excellent upgrade from Serious Sam,The Second Encounter. The graphics are grand improvement over SS-The 2nd Encounter.Mental^s evil minions are even more funny,& ridiculous compared to SS-The 2nd Encounter. Most shooters are frightening, grim, and bloody.Serious sam 2 adds humor to the game when having to kill the evil minions using a variety of Serious & outlandish weapons. All-in-all Serious Sam 2 is worth it in price, humor, etc.

Awesome Sam

This game is great fun. Sam is back and ready for action. The maps are huge and very nicely rendered. Check the system requirements though, especially the graphics requirements. If your system isn't quite up to snuff, your gonna have problems. I had to update my video card to even run it. Happily though, it is was worth it. This game is huge and goes on forever. The only down side I've seen is the final boss, which appears to be unbeatable even in the easiest mode.
If you liked the previous Sams, I think you'll really enjoy this outing.

Ever since the first Serious Sam game, i have been a huge fan. Then when i found out that they were comming out with a second one i just could not wait to get it! And when i finally did, i was amazed. The graphics in this game are just amazing (this is based on computer processor and graphic card, i have a AMD Athlon FX 4200+ and a ATI Radeon X800XL pci express and it runs perfectly!) For one thing instead of being in like those room and hallways and little outdoor place. Now your in like this hugh word that goes on forever. The whole game is different. in the 2nd one ur teamed up with little blue people that you have to help protect their village from new bigger more fun to kill monsters and robots. The game lasts pretty long even for pro gamers. The new guns u get are sweet too. they start off boring and dont really do anything. but as u advance u get cooler better weapons. You even get little things you can ride on or in. Like a giant glass ball with spikes on it, that allows you to drive into ur enemy and it kills them. Then you have like dinosaurs that take you place and spit fire at things. overall this came is like the best ever and really better than the first one. very happy its a must have even if you didnt get the first one!!!

Absolutely Brillant every moment!

What a fantastic game! Exciting, very funny, a great video experience as would be expected from the past Serious Sam games. This game should be required viewing for all those other so-called numbnuck software "developers" who produce the garbage all over the software shelves. Here's the new mantra, if it's Croteam, buy it!!!!

AWSOME !

The Graphics in this game are cool.
The code is tight, no glitches.
The action comes at you from all angles, but you have
the guns to take them on. There are many different kinds
of enemies. This is a hardcore, well designed FPS, but
don't expect a deep plot, becuase it's not meant to be
that kind of game. You can always download the free
demo & the demo patch first, which is what I did.

I own SS the Second Encounter, which I've mastered, having played it several times. Maybe it's the fact that I know the maps on the older game, but this newer one seems a little harder to me. Nevertheless, it's great fun, the graphics are unbelievable, and the gameplay is excellent. I'm sure that when I beat the game, the maps will be more familiar to me and it will be easier to beat.

I don't like the fact that you sometimes don't accumulate your entire arsenal of weapons by the end of each world. I really liked having a choice of which weapon to fight the next upcoming battle with. It seems like I'm using the dang shotgun too much, when I really prefer the minigun or rocket launcher, which I rarely ever get my hands on. But all in all it's a good ride. Get it and beat it.
