My daughters are hooked on this game - HELP!

I had to write a review for this game. We have many games for for various formats, but they have been addicted to this game for almost three months. My daughters are 8 and 11, and we take a lot of long, boring car trips. I had to buy a second game to keep them from fighting over who gets to play it.
There aren't many gameboy games that my daughters like to play. They are not into fashion or destruction. Games don't have to be boy or girl products. They should be fun, creative, humorous, colorful, and challenging. The Mario games are good examples. This game hits the mark perfectly.

Tied number 1 for my favorite GBA Game

This game totally rocks! The graphics and sound are great and it is just perfectly put together. There are a lot of levels and the game lasts a long time. The three main charecters are shrek, donkey, and puss in boots. My favorite is puss in boots because he can slide and climb. Its not really an easy game, the levels are challenging enough to be fun, but they are not impossible. The game also explains the story line just in case you havent seen the movie.this game is #1 on my list (tied with mario kart super circuit)and is very good for everyone. This game is appropriate for boys and girls of all ages and is definately worth the money.(its also great for long car trips)

Fun for everyone

I bought this for my kids. Ages 6 and 4. But of course i love it. It's a really fun game and it requires problem solving ability. I was totally surprised at what my son was able to do... He asked me to help him all the time, but sits there telling ME how to do it. Really fun. Plus I love hearing Shreks voice now and then. It cracks me up.

Great game. I give it thumbs up. Certainly worth every penny.

Shrek 2 is a fun game. Some parts are hard, some are moderate, some are easy. I had trouble on the part where Shrek meets puss'n'boots and you have to dodge all his attacks. Puss 'n' Boots doesn't come toward you with his sword threatening to slash you, instead he comes toward you at 100 mph trying to hit you with his bare paws. Shrek is a big guy and puss'n'boots knocks you out, but at the end, I was able to beat it. At each level, there's something hard to beat, but if you work at it you can get it. So I reccomend that you get this game.

Very good.......but could be better.

I bought this to play for a long period of time. Well, guess what, it lasted only about 5 hours. Overall, the graphics were good, music could've been MUCH better. Im not trying to bash this game(it really is a good game for the most part). The gameplay was challenging, but needed to be longer. IT was very fun, BUT there's is room for improvement.

Pros:Get to be Shrek, Donkey, Puss N' Boots, and Gingerbread man. Nice Moves.

Cons: Hard to control many players at once. Can't be Princess Fiona. Needed to be longer.

Take my advice, hey, if you've got the money, buy it right now, but if you're trying to save up for a very long lasting game, buy a Mario game(like SM3: Yoshi's Island)

I'm addicted!!!

We bought this game for Christmas for out 6 yr old son. It can be a little difficult though. It's a little too hard for my son-I would recommend Shark Tale. He really likes that one because the enemies don't come after you-you go and fight them. In Shrek the enemies attack you...the village people come after Shrek and he doesn't move fast at all. It's a little frustrating unless you really know the "in's and out's". I would love to watch the person that got it done in 5 hrs, because after 4 days I still can't pass it. Good luck-I would recommend Barbie-The Princess and the Pauper or Shark Tale for younger players around the reading age. I hope this helps.

Definitely Get Your Money's Worth

This is a wonderful game to "EXTEND" the Shrek experience. I bought it for my 4 year old and I started off playing it with him; it wasn't 5 minutes and he was grabbing the Gameboy SP and working the controls himself. We both trade off turns attempting to get through the levels and I read the captions to him. I bought this game before Christmas and we haven't finished the game yet, but I feel that I can write this review. We didn't want to finish this too quickly so we will definitely get our Money's worth (as these games aren't cheap) - it's been just about right for our attention span. We play for a while in the evening and then go to bed.

The game has the levels broken up into Books. We are at 62% complete and are up to the 5th Book (I suspect there are 8 books) and there are 5 Levels per book. You play some levels as one of the characters of Shrek, Donkey, Puss n Boots, Gingerbread Man and some levels as 3 characters simultaneously (these are challenging to get all three guys through the level).

Each character has their "talents" and you use them accordingly. There are 3 to 6 lives per character and you find extra health and tools along the way. Sometimes, it drives me crazy to use up the character's lives and we have to start the level over, but the more you play, the better you get and you do eventually get through the level... I tell my son, just force yourself to keep going and keep track of how much farther you get each time. After getting through these levels, some of the other levels are refreshingly easy (a nice break).

My 4 year old has learned great vocabulary and counting skills as you collect coins as you go through the levels and the display tells you how many coins you have collected (ie, 38/40). There have been a couple of easy, but timed levels, so you need to move quickly and my son has learned to watch the timer.

My son has completed a number of chapters "levels" on his own without my help and he plays them over and over since you have full access to previously completed levels. He reacts just like the rest of us and I can hear him in the next room yelling "Arrghhhhhhh" as he gets frustrated when he has to start the level over, but he's become very very good at this game. I think with the right encouragement, it's a great little game for all kids and adults. Play it with your kids, it's a great bonding experience.

I also suggest Shrek 2: Beg for Mercy which stars Puss N Boots and his escapades. Again, Beg for Mercy is a great game too.

Good game for all ages
