How do you review a product that has not yet been released? Of what value is it?

I have beaten both kingdom hearts games and i love them both. I especially liked this one, because at the end you can play as rikku. If you love final fantasy and other rpg games then, this is for you.

One of the better reasons to get a GBA

Let me start off by saying that I don't like the Gameboy Advanced. I am waiting for the Sony PSP. With that said, I'm glad I bought the GBA so that I could play this game. the play style is somewhat similar to Kingdom Hearts, but the magic and combat system are really new and unique. I like the build your own dungeon motiff. I can decide what lies behind most doors, that's pretty sweet. The storyline is kind of weak, but I expect that from a hand held. The graphics are pretty good for being a Nintendo game. And this just whets my appetite for Kingdom Hearts 2 next year.

Storyline...loved it! Music...enjoyed it! Graphics...sweet! Battle system...not so much

Ok, so this takes off right after the epilogue of Kingdom Hearts...with great graphics almost fit for the PS2. Sora follows a hooded man to a foreboding castle and enters it. The hooded man says, "Ahead lies something you need...but to claim it, you must lose something dear." Sora, Donald, and Goofy find that they have forgotten their abilities as soon as they entered the castle. Every floor they up they lose memories of their adventures...but Sora remembers someone dear to him, someone he'd forgotten about.

The story is awesome and has an interesting array of new characters. Sora, Donald, and Goofy are brash, hot-headed, and funny as usual. Riku (the other part of the game) goes through a significant character change, something that I liked about his story. Mickey is as great as ever.

The new characters were something to think about. You loved them, hated them, loved to hate them, or couldn't decide. (Those were my choices.) Fiery Axel, sadist Larxene, observatory Vexen, fearless Lexaeus, craven Zexion, hazardous Marluxia, and the enigmatic DiZ. All working for their own goals and butting heads with each other. And, of course, the "all-knowing" Ansem is back with his usual rant of "darkness is the heart's true essence."

The music was almost perfectly transferred from the first KH to the GBA, added with a few new scores that just made the game great to play. I even paused the game a few times during the Organization Members' battles and just listened to the music, especially the first Marluxia battle.

Now for the bad things...

The battle system was, I admit, unique and clever. But if you're gonna have a hack-and-slash with a battle menu in the first one, you might as well have it in its sequel. Also, it was tedious to find certain map cards in order for you to move on.

The way of leveling up was also stupid. First-off, you had to collect the experience points dropped by enemies in order to level up while avoiding the other enemies that could make sure you missed those valuable points. And then, you had to choose what you wanted to level up, and the choices are: health, capacity for the deck of cards, and the card combos. How lame.

Despite these flaws, the game is still great and KH fans will at least enjoy it to a certain extent. I did.

Card System Interesting But Becomes Tedious

Chain of Memories has a great story and a new card system in this game. The card system tends to be the downfall. What really gets under my skin is that you have to search for a certain card to unlock a door or you can't progress any further in the game. If you can't find an "8" card, for example, you can't get through the door to the next part of the story. Finding the "8" card can sometimes take more than an hour to find. You have to keep killing monsters in hope that they will drop the "8" card to open to door. Over time, you get tired of looking. So the cards are a neat idea, and would work, if some of the cards weren't so hard to find. It kills the fun of the game. The ony reason the game has length is because of how long it takes to find cards, if not for that, the game could be beaten in half the time. So, overall I'd say that this game is fun, but can become annoying

A nice idea that could have been better...

I have been a hardcore fan of the Kingdom Hearts storyline for some time now. The mix of Disney and FF gameplay really hits a cord for me that goes way back to when I was a little girl.
When I started to play this game I was overjoyed at the great very true to the PS2 game cutscenes and going back to the worlds of the first KH...
As time went on however the nature of using cards to open doors, dumping some of them to make room for others, and filing and refiling decks to try to find that one order that would kill yet another boss began to make me feel more like a bookeeper than a RPG hero. Plus, if you miss a single skill in one of the many maze like rooms it could ruin beating the whole game in the long run...
I have nothing against games based on cards but it seems like too much of this system is left up to chance if you are not the type to use a cheat guide from the start.
So for me COM gathers dust in a drawer while I wait though the next very long week for Kingdom Hearts 2 to come out.

Fun...but very, very, hard

This game is a very good game. It's perfect when you're bored or don't have anything else to do. But it is just way to hard. In Neverland Captain Hook's attack cards are very high, plus the ship on which you are fighting on tilts, making it even harder. Plus, in Hollow Bastion, Maleficient is extremely powerful. Her flames take away about 40 percent of your HP, and her only vunlerable spot is her head, which is almost impossible to get to. The regular enimies are basically the only enimies you can kill without having to try to beat them hundreds of times. I bought in a game Stop for as cheap as twenty-four dollars, and now I know why. Do NOT buy this game unless you are the master of super hard video games(the battle style is pretty lame, too, as a previous customer wrote).

Yes, I have been seeing that other people have been having trouble ordering this. My family had a bit of difficulty as well, but "speed ordering," or whatever it is called, seems to work. Although some people might not want to spend the extra money.

Much of what made the game interesting to me would spoil the story for other people who have not quite finished it. Many of my friends consider my video game fetishes "juvenile" and "boyish," but almost all of them have played- and beaten- the first Kingdom Hearts, and now, Chain of Memories. However, one of my friends commented that it was hard to master the card system.

The "random battle encounters" are not so random anymore. It is almost comical when your pixelated foes chase you around the field screen, and when you must jump atop a barrel (or some other obstacle) to rid yourself of the annoying little buggers. It was also a bit frustrating for me when the bosses jumped from predictably easy to "right-now-I-want-to-hit-so-and-so-with-a-double-barrelled-machine-gun" hard.

It also strikes me as odd that Tetsuya Nomura (director of the Kingdom Hearts project[s]) would move his game from the Playstation 2 console to the Gameboy- and back to the Playstation 2. Although Nomura did say that he heard kids wanted Kingdom Hearts to be more portable, this might scare away die-hard Nintendo or Sony fans.

Yes, I've focused on the bad aspects of the game so far. Although I most certainly do not have enough room to sing all my praises for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, (and fully proclaim my dedication to Kingdom Hearts and Square Enix,) I'd simply like to say that though the cons above might scare you, please buy it anyway. YAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!! Kingdom Hearts for the GBA!!!!!!!!!!!

This game looks really cool because it
the opening sequence is 3-D! For the GBA!
It also has a new battle system.
From what I've read, you are given
cards and you use them to battle, and
create the worlds. Some might say
that it's really just a 2-D version of
Kingdom Hearts, but it isn't.
It is put in the gap between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2.
I love this game!
I so hope I get it on Dec. 7th.
P.S.- It would make a great presents for
Christmas or Hannukah or what ever you do
for the holidays.

IT'S FINALLY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting forever for this game! It's about Sora and the gang go in a castle called Castle Oblivion and they are going in because there is someone very dear to Sora. But each step in Castle Oblivion makes Sora lose his memories. He also has to face his past all over again. But there are also different things he also has to face. For example the battle card system. You hit a and b to attack and while you are doing that a card determines your next move.Well that's all. Auron95
