When I first rented the game I was happy. I thought Simpsons great material, how wrong I was. To first start off the graphics are extremely poor. They looked like Sega Gen. graphics. The vision is very fuzzy (or it could be my TV). Next the game play is poor too, the way you move on the screen, you don't have good attacks in the game, and the buttons. The characters are another issue. The voices are okay at best. When they do their "taunt" the sayings are really dumb. The weapons each character has is so dumb. It's nothing like the Simpons on TV! There is more but for now I have gave you a sample, I'll make you the judge of the rest. You might like but what I have to say is RENT THE GAME FIRST!!!!!

Simpons Wrestling--BIG disappointment

The long-awaited "Simpsons Wrestling" (Activision) was released this week and in the words of Bart Simpson (episode 5F07, "Miracle on Evergreen Terrace") ... "It's ..."

As a fan of both The Simpsons and wrestling, this was truly the perfect combo. However, after almost a year of waiting for this game, it is a major disappointment to say the least.

First and honestly ... it's like playing a game from your old Nintendo system. For PSX, the graphics are very poor--with, while during combat, characters that occasionally transparently overlap each other. Didn't we see this type of glitches in old Commodore games? As for the characters themselves, the graphics are choppy and uneven with Groundskeeper Willy looking the worst of the lot.

The game-play is also quite bad. Controlling your given resident of Springfield is a hard task and making contact with your opponent can sometimes be worse--occasionally, opponents will simply move into a dead space in the ring and start swinging at air. Again, didn't we see this back in the 80s?

This should actually be called "Simpsons Fighting" because it is anything but wrestling. Actually, the name "Wrestling" in the title was probably just a way to cash-in on wrestling's current popularity.

Barney swings beer mugs, Krusty wields a giant hammer, Marge has a frying pan while Kent Brockman, almost unheard over the sound effects and music, does occasional

commentary. But overall, the moves are pretty basic and boring. The game is also void of a referee; "wrestlers" themselves make the count when they go for a pin attempt.

And being The Simpsons, most fans would expect a great deal of humor--nope. While the taunts are, at times, remotely humorous, the game simply lacks humor that you would generally expect with any Simpsons product. The funniest aspect of the game is when you face Marge--she instantly releases Maggie who runs and clings to your leg, slowing you down. Yes ... this is the funniest aspect of the game.

Bottom line ... Simpsons and wrestling fans alike will hate this game. To paraphrase The Comic Book Guy: "Worst Game Ever!"

This review a ... of my web site, ...

Seriously bad stuff...

This game is a steaming pile of [...] that stepping in may cost you [...] (luckily it only cost me [...]).

The Simpsons and Wrestling are two of the most popular shows on TV today and two of the few shows that i make sure to catch every episode of...every week. Now some marketing genius knows that the PSX is in dire need of a Simpsons title, but they know none of the Simpsons games made under the Acclaim license were really any good except for the immortal Simpsons Arcade game.

They figure "Hey, Simpsons, and Pro Wrestling, the kids will love it!"

The problem is, any kid in their right mind will not love this. As far as Pro Wrestling goes this is not it at all. Steaming burps, massive weapons coming out of nowhere, jumping 8 feet across a ring.

The graphics are downright ugly. The characters look all wavy and messed up. They tried to make a 3D simpsons and wound up with a very 2D-ish cartoony game that wouldn't stand on 16 bit standards.

The gameplay is not there, not there at all, button mashing on top of button mashing will not get anything to work in this game, if you rent this without a manual you'll be doubly confused.

The sound is not as bad but not good at all, small voice sampling and really really unfunny clips, it's the actual TV show voices but they sound like they've been clipped from episodes and put together for the game.

There is no replay value, because it stinks, it's pitiful.

I rented this game and i want my [...] back on top of money for all the distress and punitive damages that this game has put upon me.

May god have mercy on the souls of the people at Activision who made this stinker (This is the company that made Tony Hawk, Spiderman, and Vigilante 8?).

The thing that really irks me is that some of the best games ever have been cartoony takes on sports. Like Punchout and Ready 2 Rumble for boxing fans and Mario Kart for racing fans, so on and so forth.

However if you want a wrestling title for your playstation, i recommend Smackdown 2, THQ did a great job with everything except the graphics on it, and the arenas look good, it smacks of fun and replay value.

If you want a good simpsons title, email the folks at Activision and tell them to make the Simpsons Racing game for GCN and PS2 not stink.

Why do all Simpson's games suck?

As a die-hard fan of the Simpsons for the last eight years I was excited to find out that finally there was going to be a new Simpsons video-game after the Simpsons arcade game and the two GameBoy games. Unfortunately, after I finally got a copy, the actual game took a humongous dump on my dreams of at least one great Simpsons video game. The actual plot should have been my biggest hint. Where the heck does an idea for a wrestling game for them actually come from...Anyhoo, as to the actual "game", the gameplay is adhorring. Beating your opponent involves no actual strategy of gameplay skill as the fights only involve one-button pound fests. There are only three special attacks for each character and the first two are useless for almost every character. As for the third it will either make your character a weakling or an unstoppable powerhouse which makes the game even more boring. As for the graphics it looks like they were less inspired by the actual power of the Sony Playstation and influenced more by the Dire Straits "Money for Nothing" video. The ONLY high point of this game is the accurate character voice-overs which are funny but the designers of this game should have known it takes more than good sound to make a game good. Take my advice Simpsons-fans, avoid this one like it was the plague. Because in the famous words of Bart Simpson ,"It's craptacular".

22 Characters? More like 16. And It's not even wrestling, it's smacking each other around with pinning. Don't buy it, it'll only kill your love of the simpsons. It only got a star because the dialouges are funny.

Terrible wrestling, terrible Simpsons

Not even a good Simpsons game. The characters can walk through the ropes, the physics are horrible and your not even sure if your playing Bart or Lisa, even with the squeeky, hard to distinguish voices. Not worth the disc it's made on. Even for the most diehard Simpsons fan. It's makes you sick.

I am an avid Simpsons fan, and I own upwards of 50 playstation titles. This is by far the worst game I have ever played. The graphics are abominable, the controls even worse, and the game is just plain no fun. The only thing the game might have going for it is the sound...but that's pretty bad too. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this...get Road Rage instead.

Doh! The biggest mistake I ever made in my life is buying this game. It is not Playstation-quality. It is not Super-Nintendo-quality. It is not even Regular-Nintendo-quality. This game is Atari-quality. I played it for about 5 minutes - had no way of returning it - so I gave it away to my little cousin who might be too young to realize how bad it is. The graphics are amazingly bad (broken lines!) and the gameplay is non-existant. My grandmother could make a better game.
