Lucasarts Does It Again

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 8 / 8

As usual, Lucasarts carries on the tradition of making great games. This game has all the great qualities of it's cousin, Rouge Squadron, plus more. The fog effect has been eliminated- a major plus. Lucasarts factored in ground based missions, and level checkpoints. If you liked Rogue, you'll play this game once, and never want to go back.

Amazing

I own both Rogue Squadron and Pod Racing, and I have to say this is better than both. The variety of the game is what really makes it a winner. And true to the movie

This game has all the aspects of the award winning Rogue Squadron and more.

Fans of Rogue Squadron---this is for you!

Naboo is run just like Rogue Squadron. Mission and plot based, this gane is full of action. The fact that you can change vehicles in the middle of a mission is a really nice touch. With all of the new game hardware out there (Dreamcast, PS2) N64 comes out with another gem. That's quite something when you compare this with the competition.

Star Wars fans will love this game. If there is any drawback - the targets you pursue are sometimes very hard to see. Also, like Rogue, defeating this game without passcodes seems next to impossible.

A sequel to a great game

For those of you who loved Rogue Squadron, this game is TOTALLY up your alley. The story line takes place during the events of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. You fly as a naboo starfighter pilot, taking out the Trade Federation forces. With 16 new levels of high flying action packed madness, this is definitely worth the money. It also includes new vehicles such as a flash speeder, police cruiser(basically a blue naboo starfighter)and of course, the naboo starfighter. All of these can be used in new levels such as the streets of Theed, and yes, finally, a space mission!

The DEFINITIVE Episode One game

In the vein of Rogue Squadron, Battle For Naboo leads players on an action-packed adventure as they go behind-the-scenes of Episode One: The Phantom Menace. What happened after Queen Amidala left Naboo? Where was the notorious Camp 4, and what were they doing to the prisoners there? How did the Naboo resistance survive until Amidala returned? All these questions are answered in the best Episode One-licensed game ever made.

The game pushes the now-dated Nintendo 64 hardware to its limits. Gone is the claustrophobic fog that surrounded the player in Rogue Squadron, replaced with an ever-expanding horizon. Dozens of enemy (and friendly) ships can fly overhead at any given time, while turrets and missile launchers fire off their rounds, objects explode, and civilians run around for help. Through all this the game never stutters or slows down, and everything that happens looks smooth and natural.

The audio, again, also pushes the N64 hardware. Everything happens in surround sound, so you'll hear lasers zip past your craft or enemies explode behind you. All the memorable tracks from John Williams' score have been faithfully reproduced, and sound remarkably similiar to the real thing. Lots of dialogue and sound effects have been squeezed into the cartridge, including a hidden bonus which contains audio commentary from the creators of the game.

Battle For Naboo draws players in with an involving story and excellent gameplay. Players start out on the run from the Trade Federation, then slowly gather allies, rescue civilians, go off on side quests, and return to destroy the droid control ship, just like in the movie. Lots of different vehicles are provided, including land, sea, and air, and players can occasionally alternate between vehicles in mid-mission, mixing up the action. Mission objectives range from hit-and-run missions to protecting convoys and land targets. The missions are slightly easier than Rogue Squadron, but the general difficulty level, especially if you're trying for a gold medal, is still high, and the learning curve easily takes players from novice to sharpshooter. It's almost impossible to describe the fun of saving your buddies by bombing an enemy convoy, destroying a swarm of fighters with a single cluster missile (1 missile splits into 7 homing ones), or making a harrowing escape from a prison camp. This is the stuff Star Wars is made of.

Battle For Naboo is the best Star Wars game on the N64, and the best Episode One licensed game. Even if you were disappointed by the poor games and overhype of The Phantom Menace, or if you've moved on to Gamecube, pick up this game if you come across it. You won't be disappointed.

I have had this game for about a half a year now.It has great graphics, great sound, and the gameplay is great!!!You go in with an entire fleet of rebel starshjips, and fight off the trade federation!!!On one level, there are about 5 naboo starfighters fighting in the air, and you,and a couple of other speeders have to give them ground support. This game is a MUST buy!!!!

The only REAL Episode One game for the N64!

I beat this game in one day, but that was only the regular missions and I still haven't been able to get all of those blasted platinum medals! The game's ground based missions are pretty good but when you face Battle Droids and Destroyer Droids they don't really move at all and they just stand there and shoot you! The game has some water based missions which are the hardest, and so are the space based missions. You can earn bonus levels like you could in Rogue Squadron for the N64 of which you have to defend a captured Trade Federation Base, Defeat Darth Maul in his Sith space vehicle, and fly as Darth Maul in his Sith space vehicle to defeat the Royal Security Forces of Naboo! You can earn a few bonus craft of which Darth Maul's space vehicle is the easiest to get. You can get the AAT and a Naboo water speeder by getting all the platinum medals but they are EXTREMELLY diffucult ot get and can REALLY give you a HUGE MIGRANE. Thankfully the graphics are great. They are even better than Rogue Squadron. The music is great and the storyline is very interesting to follow. No go beat the evil Trade Federation!
