I have been playing this game for about six years, and am still not tired of it! The puzzles are extremely fun and addicting, but logic is very cleverly squeezed in. Although the math comes without numbers, it still teaches kids a lot while they think that they're playing a game just for fun. There are twelve levels, each with four difficulty levels. Every three times a group of sixteen Zoombinis gets through a set of puzzles without losing any Zoombinis, the set of puzzles gets harder. Every time you complete a set of three puzzles perfectly for the first time, a building in Zoombiniville is dedicated to the group of Zoombinis. (THIS IS NOT A SPOILER, JUST A HELPFUL STRATEGY: Since you can't adjust your level of difficulty down, I'd suggest you take the journey one leg at a time, going back to get more Zoombinis after one leg is done. Doing this, you should take 31 groups of 16 Zoombinis through the first leg of the journey, losing one Zoombini during each time you go through the first leg. Then use the remaining ones (10 groups) to get the level high enough to receive all the reward buildings. For the second and third leg, decide which you like less, do that perfectly 10 times, getting 16 through each time, then use the remaining Zoombinis to go on your favorite path 20 times, losing one each time. Do the puzzles perfectly with the remaining Zoombinis, getting 16 through each time, then take the remaining few through. For the fourth leg, do the same thing as for the first. END OF EASIEST STRATEGY)The story is that the Bloats have taken over Zoombini Isle, and the Zoombinis have decided to move to Zoombiniville. The Zoombinis are small, blue creatures with many different features. There are five different kinds of hair, eyes, noses, and feet. At the beginning, you can choose your Zoombinis, by mixing together four features from the twenty available. In fact, this is what taught me exponents when I was young. There are four kinds of features with five kinds of each, so there are 625 conbinations. Saving this game is very easy, and you can save up to fifty games. This is the third edition of the game, though it is still practically the same as Version 2.0, Logical Journey of the Zoombinis Deluxe. It even says so on the CD. The newest features are a bit of a different soundtrack at Zoombini Isle, upgraded graphics (so you don't have to restart your computer before and after you play), and a new acitivity program, with lots of printable activities for different ages. This is one of the best kids' computer games in the world, so I'd suggest you get it for your child and yourself. If you liked this game, also try Mountain Rescue and Island Odyssey, the second and third Zoombinis games.

This game makes math and learning fun!!! you create your own zoombinis in the beginning, and follow along a mystical map until you reach the end. Sometimes it can get boring, though, and the journey might be too hard for some kids. Before buying this, do a little more research on it.
A good problem-solving game

I bought the Zoombini Mini 2 pack for my daughter, who is 6 years old, because she no longer found her Clifford and Starflyer games Clifford The Big Red Dog Thinking Adventures,StarFlyers Royal Jewel Rescue,StarFlyers Alien Space Chase challenging anymore. She played with the Zoombinis Logical Journey CD for the first time yesterday evening and was completely hooked. A few of the challenges (e.g. encounter with the Pizza Troll) were more difficult than others, but they were not off-putting nor too frustrating, and it wasn't long before she discovered how to apply logic and pattern recognition to overcome those difficulties. The game occasionally pauses now and then, but it could simply be due to my computer and not the software design. Fortunately I installed it on my Dell without any of the problems described by other buyers. Overall, the game is fun for younger kids, but I can see how older kids might find the game repetitive after a while. In any case, my 6-year-old enjoys the game very much. The first thing she said when she woke up this morning was that she couldn't wait to come home from school so she could continue to play her Zoombinis game. The 2nd CD, Mountain Rescue, is reportedly slightly more advanced, so I'll wait a few more weeks before introducing her to it.

When I first played this game... it was a blast! making
zoombinis, a map, great challenges, oh, I could play it forever! [But to note that the game is hard and it is bad to rush because it is more of a challenge itself than a play, play, play game.]

I honestly think this game made Algebra come easier for me. It is a really fun little toy. You take a party of sixteen zoombinis, each of which have different eyes, hair, feet, and noses. (You choose how they look) Then, based on physical appearances (generally) you have to get them through obstacles. For instance a certain "monster" only lets zoombinis with red noses pass. There are also games where you have to use deduction. It helps build skills really well AND its fun. This is a really excellent choice for a computer game, probably for ages eight and up (I'm 14 and I still play it).

I bought this game for my daughter and of course I had to try it out first. It was not only addictive for me, but when my daughter started playing it I had to fight her to stop! She played it for three days straight until she was completely finished with the game. It really made her think. This is an excellent game and I would recommend it for anyone, child or adult.
I love'd this game!

I was probably 14 when I played Zoombinis. My aunt had it for my cousins and well for her too, and thought that I would really like it. Not only do you learn and have fun it's so addicting. The best part about it is that you don't even realize you are learning. I am now 24 and recently purchased the game for myself. Not because I need a refresher course but because I enjoyed it so much. I think that this is a great game for the classroom. I've encouraged many of my friends that educate to install into their classrooms.

I have a [...] boy and he is in the game-playing age, what I found is that it's REALLY hard to find educational games. So between bad games and crap like "investigative math" from school, he is not learning much other than reading.
This game really fill the gap and it's designed to be FUN and challenging at the right level for kids. My son likes it so much, I just purchased the "Island Odyssy" title from Zoombinis.
