Give this game 1 day and it will bloom into something big, something scary beyond anything you have seem or felt, the sounds of flesh being eaten off still living victims, babies being drilled to death, the gory graphics, the pools of blood, the black majic, it will all draw you in- Don't rely on what you have heard from others...they were too closed-minded to see just how deep the story is- When you start the game, don't worry if you don't have any clue about what to. This was done on purpose so that you could figure out the fate of the world (The living and the dead) the story develops within the game and you are helped by the characters (Nettie and Jaunty)

Go do that voodoo that you do so well...

Shadowman is a uniquely dark title that tries to rival Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver in terms of bleak level design and innovative gameplay, and, although it can't match up with Eidos' masterpiece, it still offers enough great story and action that the comic book fans can appreciate. Taking steps ahead of the Playstation and N64 versions, Shadowman offers superb graphics and better gameplay, although no real changes were made to the final game. It is interesting, though, to see Acclaim didn't give it the same treatment it did with its awful South Park games. Recommended for older gamers and comic book fans who live to see a skull talking in Jamaican. Yeah, mon!

Actually 3.5 Stars is more appropriate

I've been playing this game for over a week now and I can honestly say that it's great fun. The strong points of this game are it's background story and amtosphere. The game is very gloomy and forboding. Gameplaywise...it's basically a 3rd person shooter along the lines of Tomb Raider. If you didn't like Tomb Raider you'll probably not like this. One of the major weakpoints is sound. When the music works it works well, but usually the soundtrack drops in and out without any real continuity. Also sometimes the music was completely garbled like a scratched record. Occasionallly I had trouble hearing shadowman's voice and commentary. Another weakpoint is the overall darkness of the graphics...it's kinda hard to see objects/enemies at a distance.

The game takes about 50-60 hours to complete. I can't really see any replay value after you finish the game though...unless you enjoy prolonged easter egg hunts.

I was disappointed to see that Acclaim made no effort to really use the Dreamcast's full capabilities. Graphicwise the DC version is just a 3D-accelerated PC version with minor tweaks. Also where is the vibration pack support? How about a VMU mini-game too? You'll find none of those here. Make no doubt about it, this Shadowman was rushed to market. But despite all of it's shortcomings, Shadowman is a very spooky and entertaining game. Definitely worth a look.

Could've been a Playstation Game

Granted, some of the context of this game, as well as the cinemas and dialogue were excellent, but overall I never got the sense that Shadowman really takes advantage of what the Dreamcast can do. I came away thinking "Wow, I thought the Dreamcast would make for a character that runs more naturally and fluidly than Lara Croft." Instead, Shadowman has astrange and unnatural bow-legged jog through environments that look like they could be rendered by a Playstation just as easily.

An action-adventure game I enjoyed more than anything fromEidos. Killing enemies makes them explode (literally). Blood andguts all over. It's a little hard, but come on I don't want an easy game I can just whip through.

what a waste of money......rent before you buy this!

this game is truly bad in every aspect of the word if you like resident evil and love steady yet puzzling game play than dont even think of getting this terrible game. its too dark, worse than carrier and it just sticks you in the middle of nothing and gives you items that cant be used no matter what you do. the story line is ok but, the graphic also stink big time(which by the way are more suited for atri) ,if they could have done any thing good for this game it would have been not to make it

fun in the scum

This game is interesting on all sorts of levels. The Dreamcast graphics and sound are fantastic, and pretty creepy. Play control is very fluid and easy, and it isn't impossible to make tricky jumps. This game starts off slow, and it takes a while to get into, but it gets very engaging very quickly. The story is very complex, and it takes about 50 hours to complete this thing. Still, there's nothing like stalking serial killers and chainsaw-wielding zombies with an automatic weapon in each hand.

Actually A 4.5

This game is awsome. It takes a while to get used to,once you do, you like it.It is a really long game, with the most complex levels i have ever seen in a game.It has nice audio, and although the graphics are bad a t times, they are good.the only downfall to this gaame is the tendancy for it to be dark. ....

This game is awesome!! and is one of the best horror games .It takes a while to get in to,but once you do,you will love playing this game.It is a really long game 70 to 80 hours with very complex levels and has a great mature story line. The voice acting and story is one of the best i seen in a video game. The graphics are really good and is the best looking version out of the N64,PS1 and PC.The music and sound effects are really good and will scare the hell out of you.It is one of the most mature game you will ever play and no one under 17 should play this game.
