Great Game and Fun to Play

Do not listen to naysayers. Before you install the game update your Windows Live from Microsoft and you will have no problems. The game runs very smooth and is beautiful to look at. The gameplay should be familiar to most people who have probably seen it on Xbox 360. Highly recommended for any action oriented gamer. Very high production values.

I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about with the low rating...but this game is sick. I just got it and am not finished yet, But it is easily the best looking game I have ever played. This is not just graphics either, but the look is gritty and realistic (not cartoonish like the Halos) actually adding to game play.

Great game, love it! It runs pretty smooth on my PC, I have a AMD Sempron 3.4+, 2GB Memory, NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT 256MB, Win XP (Screw Vista) and runs amazing with all the settings on the highest without no problems, I dont know why some people says that the loading time takes forever, i dont have that problem, the game never crashed or freez at all. If you got the system to running : go for it!, great game play, a lot fun, specially on co-op I decided to get this insted of COD4 mostly because it was $10.00 less and boy I hit the jackpot. All those that say that the game have issues, my guess its because they're running it on a system with less than 1GB of memory or some. Its a most!

I've been blown away by the storyline, action, graphics, and intense gameplay in GoW. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for the PC version of this game. But it does come with bugs out of the package, and I was forced to manually update Windows Live multiple times to resolve crashes. But it performed flawlessly after applying the patch .Overall this is a very good buy for anyone into FPS games and do not have a 360 like myself. Not to mention the extra chapters in the PC version.

Also, there is a crash bug if you try to launch from the CD instead of the deskop.

If you like first-person shooter games on the PC - this one is one of the most fun games I've ever played. The graphics are excellent and so is the gameplay. If you are debating between buying this or Cysis, I would say the following: Crysis has more varied and nuanced graphics, but GoW has better gameplay.

Pros:
- Great singleplayer with a rich story and plenty of action
- Great multiplayer on well designed maps. The multiplayer is a logical extension of the single player
- Beautiful graphics - in a dark, surrealistic setting

Cons:
None that I can see

This game by far has the most intense gameplay as the action is pretty much nonstop as well as a developed plotline which may remain dull or not complicated enough to some-- it entangles the point of a video game to the fullest of its potential with amazing scenery detail, textures, and even graphics.

Over all i give this game a 10/10

The great thing about these kind of games is that the mechanics, graphics, gameplay are so original and fun it dosen't go out of style (even though th PC version came way afterwards). It plays great on a keyboard and mouse and it's a classic addition to any gamers library.

Exciting game, only disapointment is that it ends

Before my review I will like to show my system specs:
Dell dimension E521( I made some changes LOL)
AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.00 Ghz
3GB RAM
Windows XP SP2
Nvidia XFX Geforce 8600GTXXX (256MB)
Before I even bought this game I downloaded and installed the latest version of Games for Windows live, I have had this game for 2weeks now and no technical issues.

This game is amazing, I havent had any technical issues with it and the gameplay is phenomenal. I haven't had this much fun with a game since Half Life 2, you actually feel like you are in charge of Alpha squad. The graphics are great if you have the right hardware (With updated drivers of course).This is truly a great game, I didnt beat it just because I wanted to see the ending or because I wanted to be able to say "I beat Gears" I beat this game because the players get immersed in the gameplay, the environments and even the characters of the game.
The only complaint I have is not about the game per se but the LIVE package which you get free for a month and have to pay for after its expiration. I think it is an unfair deal that takes away from the game itself,online gameplay is fun and addicting and to be honest, I am contemplating the renewal of my Live package. Although the online component of the multiplayer aspect of Gears is by subscription, users can play Gears of War for free on a LAN configuration.
This is a game I will recommend to everyone, I bought this game for the full price plus tax at an EB games and I have no regrets.

I Bought This Game Just Cause The 5 Extra Levels On Campain & It Has All The Downloadeble Contents That U Downloaded On Ur Xbox 360 & If U Have A Controller For Ur PC Or Laptop It Should Work

I struggled with whether or not to rate the game 5 stars, it's no where near perfect, but at the end of the day, it's a fantastic game.

You can read plenty of reviews about how the game operates, but I just wanted to point out that I had absolutely no issue at all installing this game on my Windows Vista machine. Installed and played fine, and I never came across a single bug...

I also HATE xbox 360, I'm a PS3 guy, but decided to give this game a go and thought it was fantastic. I purchased a wired 360 controller and plugged it into my computer, the game recognized it without any additional hardware/software and it played just like it would with the controller on a console, (I hate keyboard/mouse).

Definately very happy with everything so far. Highly recommend playing the game.
