This game is not bad at all

When I started this game I went in with a bad attitude from the beginning due to all the bad reviews. The game starts off a little slow but as you go on it gets better and better. I'm done with the game and I liked it a lot. Make your own decision about the game.

Great Game

The only flaw this game has is that there is no multiplayer or co-op options. Otherwise the game has great graphics, an intriguing story, and awesome weapons and powers.

a good game, in time for a good scare

Clive Barker,,, what can be said about the well known writer? A leading contemporary mind behind horror movies (as director) Hellraiser, Lord of Illusions, and many more written novels, plays and games.

Jericho on the PS3 has beautiful graphics; don't be put off by the start of the game. I felt, on the first stage, during the desert infiltration through the ruins that the textures were a bit dull. But soon after, it got better with magnificent lighting and graphics.

The darkness of the environments is great, very eerie feel to it. But the ambiance sometimes suffers, although not much often, when the action heats up, it just fades and blows out with all guns blazing.

They say some replay value is there but I am yet to finish and go through the game again.

Except for some finishing issues the game is pretty much a 75 out of 100, 3.75 stars ;)

I wanted to get this game since I played the demo and it's a lot of fun. The graphics and voice acting are above average, the story is entertaining, and dialogue is a little cheesy, but it's bearable. The best thing about the game is the different supernatural powers that the team members have. Some are more efficient to use than others, and you'll probably use your favorite 2-3 members for most of the game (most likely Church, who uses a one-hit kill sword, and Delgado who uses fire and a minigun). The weapons are usual FPS machine guns, pistols, snipers, etc. Each member has their own personality, which helps keep the game fresh. The ultimate rental. I don't suggest buying it due to lack of multiplayer and a short campaign. Squeamish people, STAY AWAY!

Edited- I haven't been able to play this game in a while, but I picked it up again recently. I haven't gotten too far into the game when I reviewed it, but having played it furthur, I have found many faults that I didn't notice before. The main and most frustrating one is the lack of any sort of intelligence whatsoever from your teammates. They rarely use cover, and when they do they use it incredibly poorly. They usually stand in the same spot all clumped together in a group firing at the same enemy while ignoring the other ones. They never back away from enemies that are charging at them, not even the ones who explode when they get near you. As a result, they are CONSTANTLY dieing, making you revive them constantly. This becomes even more frustrating when the squad gets split up since you have to pay extra attention to make sure that those guys don't die. One part of the game is so excruciatingly difficult that I have almost given up on beating the game. Which is a darn shame since I'm loving the wacky storyline.

Really pleased

I have been a Clive Barker fan for a while now. Owning several of his books and having seen the entire Hellraiser series, I had developed a taste for his work. It was relief to find something as sadistic as I was looking for, which I found in Hellraiser, after having been immensely disappointed with Michael and Jason and Freddy, so Barker gained my loyalty with his infamous creation.

Now that his video game, Jericho, is out, I finally managed to get my hands on a copy and just beat the game. First off, the graphics are great- one of the better next gen games I would say, certainly wiping the floor with Resistance: Fall of Man (I thought). The environments were great and the lighting fantastic, and the characters and creatures models were repulsive but demanded close attention. The framerate never slows down, making for smooth gameplay and frantic action. All seven characters have their own distinct psychic powers, ranging from the ability to control a bullet to possession. Some of these are more useful than others- Black's Ghost Bullet was definately my favorite, while Jones's possession ability is completely useless except in the situations where you have to use it. Cole's Time Warp ability, while I didn't use it often, was pretty neat, but it was her increased firepower ability that made her useful, as well as her weapon that would identify an enemies weaknesses. Rawling's life drain ability is, for all intents and purposes, worthless.

Which brings me to my next point. While your squad mates aren't totally stupid, they're not the brightest, either. They stay right in the path of fire and when an exploding enemy dies right next to them, rather than run away from it, they stand right there and let the corpse explode, which more often than not kills them and requires you to stop what you're doing and revive them. It gets frustrating at first but after a while you kind of get used to it.

I loved this game. And I will say, the cutscene before the final battle shocked me- let's say teammates go boom. Amazing.

Overall, great game. The AI is only a minor complaint compared to all the fun I had with the game.

It's a good game!

I'm not a super big fan of Clive Barker but I love horror stories/films/games. The graphics are very well done and the story is interesting as well. The game play is unique and I'd have to call it a cross between a first person shooter and a squad based tactical game (think Rainbow Six like). The unique twist is each of the squad members have super natural powers that you have to use to survive encounters. You don't play a single squad member but rather you jump between the members. One of my favorite characters has a mind controlled sniper rifle in which you can fire the rifle at a zombie but then guide the bullet to another target and another target. It is something that just has to be experienced but you'll never look at other sniper games the same when you can get three head shots with one shot ;). The only drawback is no multiplayer. This game cries out for co-op play and would have had some interesting online play possibilities.

I have been playing video games for about 20 years and can honestly say this is probable the second first person shooter I have really gotten into. I think the concept is great you die very early in the game only to realize your soul can enter your teams bodies and control them. Each charater has different abilites though your probable going to use some characters more then others. There are certain enemies that only have a weakness in there backs, so its kind of cool to jump back and forth between guys to be in range.
While other people seemed to dislike the whole reviving your guys, I kind of liked it, ultimatley it makes it so that you can never die if you keep guys alive. There were many times in the game, were I would be running to revive a guy before I got killed, only to get killed just as I revived the guy and had to do it again. I could see how it could annoy people but I actually enjoyed it.
I thought the story and graphics were very good. Theres an overall creepy feel to the game and I did like that each character has different abilites. One can astral project, one can move objects, one can summom a spirt to attack your enemy. I would definantly understand what they do before really getting into the game. I played about 75% of the game before I realized how useful some were and made things way to hard to the point were I wasn't having as much fun as I could have.
At the same time I felt this game could have been better then it was and could see a Jericho 2 being outstanding. For the most part you will probable use only a couple of characters.

*I also figured I would mentioned one part in the game that will make you pull your hair out. Don't remember the level but at one part enemies just keep coming and coming. I read online that you just have to keep killing them but I played it for 2 hours wanting to bash my head in and didn't clear it. But an really simple way to clear this is use delgado and jump down to the gate and use your dragon thingy R1 special move and you will attach a guy on the other side and door will open. Your going to thank me for that.

Decent Fun

I played Jericho for the PS3 and bought I because I enjoyed the demo and was despirate for a FPS for the PS3.

The good:
Its fun
Difficulty settings are appropriate
Graphics are cool
Controller is easy to learn

The bad:
At times too dark to see your surroundings
Short
Game favors some characters with certain powers
Not as interactive as other next gen games (can't jump or pick up items)
