A quality (and original!)) fighting game

Powerstone is one of the most original fighting ngames I've ever played. It's great to see Capcom break away from their usual Street Fighter formula. The graphics are great (a ton of animation-check out the supers!) each charector is well designed and gives you the feel of playing a cartoon. The controls are pretty simple, and once you learn how to play (you have to keep with it) you can pull off some great stuff like being able to grab onto the ceiling, drop down on to your opponents head and then throw a table at him just in time to grab that last powerstone. Everything combines into a great alternative to Soul Calibur (you have SC right?) Keep in mind it's best with 2 players! And from what I hear, the sequal will support 4 players...I can't wait!

FUN,it's that simple.

Power Stone is FUN!It kind of reminds me of Super Smash Bros. in the way you can grab stuff, strong characters can even pick and throw tables. One fighter(Wangtang)reminds me of Goku from Dragon Ball Z when he gets all three stones.Games like these and japanese anime have started a tread like the Matrix, lasers shooting out of peoples hands and flying and look at the X-Men movie. It's a new kind of futuristic magic and I say bring it on!Power Stone 2 will be out this fall on Dreamcast but for this price buy the first it's awesome!

Power Stone is one of the coolest games. I first saw it on the Dreamcast demo. I would have never heard of it if I didn't see it there. It will make you want to keep playing it because every time you beat it you get someting else like weapons or mini VMU games. I highly recommend this game to all Dreamcast owners.

This is a great game. It very fun to play and is very original. The game uses true 3 dimensional movement. The game could use more characters, more modes of play and better Artificial Inteliigence, but overall it is a joy to play. Power Stone 2 is coming soon to arcades.

I extremly enjoyed this game it has an amazing replay value. I find that ability to use the enviroment to your advantage is a lot of fun. the only problem that I have experienced on both my demo version and full version is that after about a hour to an hour and a half the sound begins to drop away like first the speaking disappear then the background music and finally the action sounds like a punch or kick. But I never actually notice it until some walks in the room and says "Why are you playing with the sound off." Other than that I have had friends say to me "I'd buy a Dreamcast just to play PowerStone." It is a great game.

this is the 2nd most original fighter ive played in a long time behind whatever mario's fighter was called. its a great game to play with a lot of people due to the short matches, simple controls, and relatively low learning curve. nice graphics as well, of course.

"Welcome to the World of Power Stone"

Story:

The setting is the 19th century. There is a treasure called the Power Stone, which can grant its owner one wish. 10 people are fighting to possess this treasure. They are:Falcon, Ayame, WangTang, Jack, Rouge, Gunrock, Galuda, Ryoma, Kraken, & Valgas.

My Review:

What an awesome game!!! Each character has its own pros & cons, from the huge Gunrock to the creepy Jack. Example: Gunrock has monster strength, but is not much on speed. Your goal in the game is to collect the level's 3 power stones, which transforms your player into a superbeing, an example is WangTang morphing into a dead-ringer for a Super Saiyan from DBZ. You can lose your power stones if your are knocked out. Also, keep in mind that Kraken & Valgas are boss characters, & are only available once you beat the game with all the normal characters. To help you out, weapons lie scattered throughout the level from a Molotov Cocktail to my personal favourite, THE MINIGUN. Parents Note: One of the female characters is quite scantily clad, and her superbeing's clothing is almost transparent. My only complaint is that the voices are not translated into english, they are still in japanese. But all text is english. Also the game gets easy after awhile on single player. This game is best for you & a friend.

Interesting game, too hard to play though

I bought the game on the strength of the reviews which called it's gameplay revolutionary and the fighting well done.

When I actually played the game I found it very confusing and the special attacks (without the powerups) difficult to master.

At first I thought it was just me and the game was just not my genre but then my brother and my cousin (who loved the game in the arcade) played it. They liked the game, against each other, and enjoyed the two player mode (although a less experienced player has NO CHANCE against someone who has played the game before, not even close) Is very hard to just get lucky in this game.

However once they tried to play the computer it was immediately apparent that even with knowing the super moves and having other people in the room trying to help you to find all of the gems the computer was much more advanced than the player. This was on the default setting. Since the characters are sort of uneven in power levels to begin with there were some computer controlled characters that just could not be beaten which does not make the game fun to play.

Since you cannot block in the game it just became a running battle all over the screen with the computer with an obvious advantage for the majority of the fight.

Would only recommend this game for someone who had already mastered it in the arcade as the home experience is very frustrating. But then if you already played this game out in the arcade you have no reason to buy the home version as the home game offers nothing new beyond a practice mode.

Did not like this game and will trade it in at a game shop at my first opportunity.

This is the first game I bought for my dreamcast that I did not like.

Trust me on this one. If you haven't played it and you like Super Smash Bros. or other neet brawling games this is the game to buy. It is true that it is not for kids that have finnicky parents. Although it isn't a gory or blood game at all. Anybody whpo plays the dreamcast like I do(hardcore, and using it to its full extent) You won't be sorry if you plunk down a measely $50 or $40 bucks.
