DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter movies and books, but this game is terrible. The camera angles are horrible, the fighting is awful, and the Harry Potter storyline is comepletly butchered in a bad way. Dobby isn't even in the game, he had a big part in the book. If you are looking for a good adventure game pick up Zelda, Starfox Adventures or Metroid Prime. This game is not even worth the six dollars to rent. EA games should think about what to change when they make The Prisoner of Azkaban game,

Harry Potter and the Horrible GameCube Version

I had the Sorcerer's Stone for the PC and it was excellent then I played Chamber of Secrets for the PC and it was okay but very easy (except the broom flying challenges). I was hoping the GC version was better. Wrong...the playability is horrible. It is hard to get the camera angle to see what is in front of Harry and who wants to try to jump from one object to the next at an angle? The camera likes to show the front of Harry most of the time, so when you try to turn around to see where you are going, you usually end up getting hit by something. That is the hardest part of the game. Otherwise a two year old could play this and it could be won in about 15 minutes. Very irritating. If you've played the PC version of any of these games and are thinking of getting them for the GC - don't. All the fun stuff is gone. You will be greatly disappointed.

This game had so much potential with break through graphics and great game play. The potential was destroyed by a few factors

-load times, load times, load times! every where you go it loads for 30 seconds (when in Diagon Alley every shop I step in it loads!

-CAMERA ANGLES tbis was the worst thing about this game its camera angles are very bad and it is hard sometimes to make jumps etc. if you dont have a good camera angle

-way to short! there are only like 5 days you attend hogwarts

-VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY DIFFICULT PUZZLES!! some of the puzzles took me like 1 hour to figure out. This game is definetely for children over the age of 10 i would say for kids under 10 much to difficult

This game was terrible and unless Harry Potter is your life (i feel for you) dont buy this game and dont even waste $$$$$ renting I luckily returned (YES!!)

I used to like Harry Potter!

The excellent graphics aside, this is the absolute worst game I have EVER played. This ranks right up there with "Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu." Anyone who has ever seen this game will know exactly what I mean.

First, lets talk about the gameplay, it takes quite a while for any button pressed to respond, you have to try everything 3 or 4 times before it works. The character spins around at the slightest touch of the stick. Although there is targeting available, the game seems to fire in whatever direction it wants. The only redeeming quality here is that you can shoot the weaslys, and they say "Harry, cut that out."

Now, the plot, it is horrible. YOU DON'T GET TO FLY THE CAR, but you spend about 10 minutes running around the whomping willow. It makes no sense. Harry Potter, the famous hero, can shoot magic, but he can't jump, give me a break.

Okay, to sum it up, each level is quite repetitious, too complicated for children and too inane for adults. This game is not a good buy, if you want a fantasy adventure get "Zelda: The Wind Waker," its truly incredible, graphics wise as well as in gameplay and originality. Don't waste your money on another poor atempt to capitalize on the enormously popular (and excellent) childrens book series.

Do not buy this game.

This game is horrible, it was poorly and quickly made to reach shevles at the same time as the movie. The controls on the game are difficult, and the game is repetitive, and involves mainly running back and forth, up and down the castle. My friends little brother who is seven beat the entire game in three days and never touched it since. As a Harry Potter fan I would suggest not owning this game.

Not Quite Enchanting...

Don't judge a book by it's cover- this game is graphically pleasing, everything looks and sounds great. However, it is quite uneventful.

It is too similar to Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. You have to relearn many spells (Flippendo, Lumos, Incendio, etc.) and you only learn a few more. Quidditch is very slightly changed (instead of speeding up and down you have to fly through rings which accelerate you occasionally giving you the power for a boost).

You won't get any challenging game play out of it. I got it [one day]and I had it beaten it by the next day. The only challenging parts are the puzzles, are clever and are the only reason I gave this a 2. Much of the gameplay consists of sneaking around the school at night which is fun at first, but gets frustrating. The bosses are extremely simple (there are only 3: the Whomping Willow, Aragog, and the Basilisk. Also there are unlimited lives so there is no problem if you don't beat something, you get an infinite amount of shots at it with no penalty.(I'm not even very good at video games, I've only beaten a couple easy ones)

A new feature of the game (opposed to the first one) is your Rememberall. It gives you a to-do list for each day. I like this feature. In the first game, you didn't have this, the game just brought you to each challenge. This feature allows you to roam freely around Hogwarts, trusting that you know what you need to do and that you will get around to it when you feel like it . However, you will soon find that there's not much to explore.

The one improvement (over Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) an is that after you have completed each of the day's objectives you are free to explore the castle. However instead of being rich and fulfilling with mysteries, it seems bland and repetitive. Who really wants to open all of the desks in Hogwarts to get more Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans?

The controls are not very good. You don't even get to aim your own spells, you just press L for auto aim. You don't get to time your own jumps, it will do it automatically. Why doesn't EA Games just do everything for you? Another frustrating thing is that on Hogwarts grounds you can only land your broomstick exactly where you took off from. I spent 30 min. trying to land before I gave up and shut off the Gamecube losing all that I had done since my last save.

The cinematic scenes are basically worthless. They explain just enough to bore fans of the books/movies and are not nearly enough to explain things to someone who isn't. They aren't even graphically impressive either (except for the entrance video). Little effort was made to make them interesting and explanative (they show Harry looking at Tom
Riddle's Diary instead of showing us what he saw).

Almost everyone knows what will happen as most players are familiar with the plot of the book or story. This leaves you with no surprises or mysteries.

All and all, this game gives you an empty feeling. You don't feel like you completed an adventure, but rather that you completed a checklist. It does not give you any feeling of fulfillment It may be pretty, but there's not much to back it up. The game doesn't feel like an unfolding adventure, it feels like a planned program and you observe it rather than participate in it.

Many people who buy this game aren't really looking for a video game. They are looking to enter Harry Potter's world. This game doesn't offer the Hogwarts experience. It is short, and character interaction is limited to the cinematic scenes. You never even have a Potions class! Those who are looking to enter this world should reread the books and read fan-fiction (my recommendation is www.schnoogle.com).

My advice: Save your sickles for something else. There will be more chances for a good Harry Potter game, think EA Games has until the 7th year to get it right...

Harry Potter and A Movie's Vomit-Inducing Spawn

Wait a minute. Isn't Harry supposed to be, like, TWELVE in this installment?! Why the *censored* does he look like a *censored* FIVE-YEAR-OLD?!
Okay, now that I've got that slice from my pie of frustration out of my system, I think I should go ahead and warn you: THIS GAME IS NOT FOR THE DIM OF WIT. IT IS PUZZLING. IT IS CONFUSING. IT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR CONTROLLER AT THE SCREEN AND SHOUT OBSCENE THINGS TO THAT COMPUTER IMAGED TODDLER'S FEET, SINCE WE HAVE SUCH A LOVELY VIEW OF THEM (I would like to take this moment to thank the idiots who came up with these wacky camera angles that allow you to see only a foot or two in front of Harry), Which brings me to share with you another slice from the pie of frustration. Those darn prefects. Why is it that Hermione (who is unexcuseably ugly, by the way) wakes you up in the middle of the night to go to the library so you can get a A)Spell B)Book C)Glass of Iced Pumpkin Juice So She Can Get back to Sleep, making you creep past the patrolling prefects who apparently have eyes in the back of their heads. Those afore-mentioned funky camera angles that leave you staring up Harry's nose come in to play here, making it virtually impossible for you see which way the prefects are looking, which leave you sprinting up to one who is facing right at you. The obnoxious shout of "Hey! Get back to your Dormitory!" becomes inevitable. And, of course, Harry just has to continue on with the stupid quest, making you do it all again. Two Questions: 1. Should we be teaching our children that it is perfectly normal to disobey your superiors? and 2. WHY CAN'T HERMIONE DO ANYTHING HERSELF?! Sure, there wouldn't be a game without challenges, but surely the dudes at EA Games could come up with something a little more intruiging.

Another slice o' pie: Those stupid Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. So hard to come by, so easy to lose. With one or three hits from an enemy, those beans you have carefully accumulated will be gone. Zilch. Wizards don't have Bean Insurance. Okay, so they won't be completely gone, but unless you can scurry to gather them up in the alotted 5-10 seconds, you will lose them. Some will fly into nearby walls or other objects and you won't even have a chance to collect them. Isn't losing your Life Energy enough?

But, for all you who have trouble with maintaining 100 beans just within the trip to Fred and George's shop, don't worry about not being able to afford the Alohomora spellbook. I think there are literally about four things that you can unlock with that spell. And a door ain't one of them. You unlock chests with the spell, usually containing a Famous Witch & Wizard Card.

And, don't be fooled by the back of the case advertising the phrase "explore Hogwarts on your Nimbus 2000." They don't mean EVERYWHERE. Broomsticks don't come inside. Broomsticks hit magical barriers. Broomsticks don't fly at night. Broomsticks are a novelty that soon wears off. While we are on the subject of exploration, let me just say that your on-foot exploration choices on the Grounds are limited, nothing at all like the maze-ish qualities like in HP & The Prisoner of Azkaban (also for GameCube) Basically, you just walk in the direction of three destinations, "Hagrid's Hut," "Flying Practice" and the "Quidditch Stadium." Once you take two steps in that direction, you are magically transported there. Umm, a word of adivce to the game designers, PLEASE LET US WALK THE FULL LENGTH TO CLASSES. It will add SOMETHING realistic to your jacked up gameplay.

OK: One final slice from the pie o' frustration: This game is said to be for ages 6 and up. Unless your six year old is litterally stupid, they will find this game boring and ultimately unchallenging. Some answers to puzzles are SO obvious you don't think to try them. Is anything about jumping from platform to platform dodging pixies amusing? No.

There are goods parts to this game, though. The castle is a treat to explore, and once you've learned all of the spells, your possibillites are endless. Some tasks actually are amusing. I am also glad that this game lasted a bit longer than HP & The PoA (for Gamecube)..by two game days. Wow. Seven whole game days. Those guys at EA outdid themselves. Now, that my pie is all eaten up, I must give you some parting advice: Rent it before you buy it. You'll either love it or hate it. Or, better yet, just get the original Playstation (gasp! The ANCIENT game console! And you thought it was extinct!) version. It is ten trillion times better. I love that one to death. Remember these words and---Merry Tuesday!

When i asked my parents my parents to get this game for me, i thought it would be good. I rented it and beated it in 1 day. It was way too short, and confusing. It got hard at times, but the most disapointing part of this game was, it didn't follow the book at all. In the end, i am really glad my parents never got this game for me.

Quick and Easy Game

This was the first game i purchased for the Gamecube and if they're all this quick and easy to finish then i'm thouroughly disappointed. The graphics are nice, but clearly the game is challenging only for a young child. Please rent and do not buy this game. You can finish it in one full day.
