Overall, this is a fun game. I couldn't put it down for the most part. But I have several complaints. It's challenging, and almost too challenging. I've gotten stuck at least 3or4 times and I'm not even halfway finished, mostly because of the parts when you have to sneak past people. After several tries at each part - when I had sneak past someone - I figured out the trick to it and could do it over and over again, np. It took me a long time to ge able to get past the Expelliarmus Challenge Chamber (just when you think that your finally finished with it, there's MORE. Although it was 'fun'.... a little). And I don't think that there's anybody out there who'se gotten past the prefects in the restriced section on the first seven or eight tries, even using stink pellets and luminous balloons. And it shoudn't have been rated E. well, maybe E10+. But don't get it expecting a seven or six year old to be able to play it without an adult helping throughout the most of the game. And don't get it if you're expecting it to follow the book/movie, which it hardly does at all...
But it's definately worth renting.

The game is by far the best out of the harry potter line of games, but their still missing the most important part of the book franchise, like the actual story!!!

One of my favorite games.

Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets is a fun, challenging, kind of creepy game. Now, what I mean by creepy, is once you get to hogwarts, and have to save someone from tapestry, when you go down the steps in the Great Stairway (something like that) there is this voice that saids, "Come...come here...let me tear you...let me rip you..." and etc.

But, that's not the point.

Creatures: annoying (especially the Gnomes) but you have to destroy them with your spell (Flipendo most common) and get use to them. Their everywhere!

Characters/Voice: the voice sound so real! And the ghost voices are really spooky and sound so real...like I said.

Graphics: Absouletly incredible! Harry and Ron look exactly as in the movies. Not so sure about Hermoine...

The only thing that bothers me is sometimes yes...the frustration. The challenges can be difficult, so you better have a strong self confidence that you can do things. These challenges can be tough.

I recommeded that if you child/you likes Harry Potter, play this game. And, I suggest that no one that has a high level of frustration..don't buy this game.

I am SOOO frustrated!!! Every freakin' night, you have to go somewhere that your not supposed to be! Like the library for example! You have to go to the restricted section to get Hogwarts; a History for Hermione. First of all, if you have EVER read the Harry Potter books (your all pathetic if you didn't) then you know that Hogwarts; a History isn't in the freakin' restricted section! ANYWAY! You get back there, and there are prefects EVERYWHWERE! The camera is so limited in this part, that you can't see ANYTHING!The prefects are staring at everything at once! It is physically impossible for you to get past them unseen! And when you do get caught (as you undoughtedly will) they cry "Get back to your rooms!" or something like that. Then they send you right back to the beginning of the library not to your room! WHAT THE FREAKIN' HECK! If you somehow manage to get past them, then you have to do all this other stuff (including getting attacked by a refrigerater, which I don't see how it relates to the plot)and you can't save until you finish EVERYTHING! It's like "Sorry if you have to leave in the middle of it and can't save, or your younger sibling messes with your game or turns it off. Your just going to have to start over and somehow manage to get past those prefects again, even though the likelyhood of that is like a billion to one." Riding on your broom is fun though and helps relieve stress levels from the prefect parts and gives you something to do when you get stuck. Miraculously, I managed to reach the end. The final "boss" (the basalisk in case you didn't know and in that case I pity you) is the easiest thing that I have ever played and I beat it on the first try. I gave it a 3 star, because although it is quite disappionting, some parts are fun. I would recommend that you don't let kids under 10 play however, unless you want tham to be sceaming in frustration. That's what I did. This game is not one of the best ones that I've played.

Awesome

The video game version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was a bit of a disappointment. It doesen't seem as magical as it was meant to be, and it lacks certain qualities that made the book and the movie so enjoyable.

The game doesn't really have a plot. It seems like while awful things are happening at Hogwarts, Harry is running around looking for books and other things. While the adult characters, such as Dumbledore, sound almost excactly like they do in the movie, Harry's and Ron's voices sound as if they were done by girls, and Hermione, instead of having Emma Watson's sweet, angelic voice, sounds as if she is getting over a horrible cold. The game has richly detailed graphics, but is very dark. I had to adjust the brightness on my TV at certain points.

However, there are parts of this game that I really liked. When you have completed all of your tasks for the day, you can freely explore the castle and discover secret areas. There are many spells to learn and cast. It is fun to cast the Flipendo Knockback Jinx on different characters and see and hear how they react. And you can lead Gryffindor to win both the House Cup and the Quidditch Cup.

I think that any Harry Potter fan should have this game, but I would read the book or watch the movie first. This game is just average.

Wait a minute. Isn't Harry supposed to be, like, TWELVE in this installment?! Why the *censored* does he look like a *censored* FIVE-YEAR-OLD?!
Okay, now that I've got that slice from my pie of frustration out of my system, I think I should go ahead and warn you: THIS GAME IS NOT FOR THE DIM OF WIT. IT IS PUZZLING. IT IS CONFUSING. IT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR CONTROLLER AT THE SCREEN AND SHOUT OBSCENE THINGS TO THAT COMPUTER IMAGED TODDLER'S FEET, SINCE WE HAVE SUCH A LOVELY VIEW OF THEM (I would like to take this moment to thank the idiots who came up with these wacky camera angles that allow you to see only a foot or two in front of Harry), Which brings me to share with you another slice from the pie of frustration. Those darn prefects. Why is it that Hermione (who is unexcuseably ugly, by the way) wakes you up in the middle of the night to go to the library so you can get a A)Spell B)Book C)Glass of Iced Pumpkin Juice So She Can Get back to Sleep, making you creep past the patrolling prefects who apparently have eyes in the back of their heads. Those afore-mentioned funky camera angles that leave you staring up Harry's nose come in to play here, making it virtually impossible for you see which way the prefects are looking, which leave you sprinting up to one who is facing right at you. The obnoxious shout of "Hey! Get back to your Dormitory!" becomes inevitable. And, of course, Harry just has to continue on with the stupid quest, making you do it all again. Two Questions: 1. Should we be teaching our children that it is perfectly normal to disobey your superiors? and 2. WHY CAN'T HERMIONE DO ANYTHING HERSELF?! Sure, there wouldn't be a game without challenges, but surely the dudes at EA Games could come up with something a little more intruiging.

Another slice o' pie: Those stupid Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. So hard to come by, so easy to lose. With one or three hits from an enemy, those beans you have carefully accumulated will be gone. Zilch. Wizards don't have Bean Insurance. Okay, so they won't be completely gone, but unless you can scurry to gather them up in the alotted 5-10 seconds, you will lose them. Some will fly into nearby walls or other objects and you won't even have a chance to collect them. Isn't losing your Life Energy enough?

But, for all you who have trouble with maintaining 100 beans just within the trip to Fred and George's shop, don't worry about not being able to afford the Alohomora spellbook. I think there are literally about four things that you can unlock with that spell. And a door ain't one of them. You unlock chests with the spell, usually containing a Famous Witch & Wizard Card.

And, don't be fooled by the back of the case advertising the phrase "explore Hogwarts on your Nimbus 2000." They don't mean EVERYWHERE. Broomsticks don't come inside. Broomsticks hit magical barriers. Broomsticks don't fly at night. Broomsticks are a novelty that soon wears off. While we are on the subject of exploration, let me just say that your on-foot exploration choices on the Grounds are limited, nothing at all like the maze-ish qualities like in HP & The Prisoner of Azkaban (also for GameCube) Basically, you just walk in the direction of three destinations, "Hagrid's Hut," "Flying Practice" and the "Quidditch Stadium." Once you take two steps in that direction, you are magically transported there. Umm, a word of adivce to the game designers, PLEASE LET US WALK THE FULL LENGTH TO CLASSES. It will add SOMETHING realistic to your jacked up gameplay.

OK: One final slice from the pie o' frustration: This game is said to be for ages 6 and up. Unless your six year old is litterally stupid, they will find this game boring and ultimately unchallenging. Some answers to puzzles are SO obvious you don't think to try them. Is anything about jumping from platform to platform dodging pixies amusing? No.

There are goods parts to this game, though. The castle is a treat to explore, and once you've learned all of the spells, your possibillites are endless. Some tasks actually are amusing. I am also glad that this game lasted a bit longer than HP & The PoA (for Gamecube)..by two game days. Wow. Seven whole game days. Those guys at EA outdid themselves. Now, that my pie is all eaten up, I must give you some parting advice: Rent it before you buy it. You'll either love it or hate it. Or, better yet, just get the original Playstation (gasp! The ANCIENT game console! And you thought it was extinct!) version. It is ten trillion times better. I love that one to death. Remember these words and---Merry Tuesday!

Harry Potter and the Horrible GameCube Version

I had the Sorcerer's Stone for the PC and it was excellent then I played Chamber of Secrets for the PC and it was okay but very easy (except the broom flying challenges). I was hoping the GC version was better. Wrong...the playability is horrible. It is hard to get the camera angle to see what is in front of Harry and who wants to try to jump from one object to the next at an angle? The camera likes to show the front of Harry most of the time, so when you try to turn around to see where you are going, you usually end up getting hit by something. That is the hardest part of the game. Otherwise a two year old could play this and it could be won in about 15 minutes. Very irritating. If you've played the PC version of any of these games and are thinking of getting them for the GC - don't. All the fun stuff is gone. You will be greatly disappointed.

What I like most about this game is that you can explore Hogwarts alot wich is fun.But the game is really short and really easy. The PC versoin is much better! My fave part of all the HP games is usually quiditch, and here yoi can't fly around freely!WTF!That takes all the fun out of it!
