WOW!!!

I've been a devil may cry fan since the beginning and have played them all and this is by far the best in the series... the best cutscenes to date and the new character Nero gives Dante a run for his money... gameplay was tight and the controlls easy to learn... of course the camera angles are still off but that's forgivable... give it a try... you won't regret it... DMC 4 Rocks harder than the music that's in it... \m/!

Awsome!

This game is crazy addictive and a ton of fun to play. Nice long story as well. Only complaint is that you see the same settings a little too much.

Almost perfect....

Pro
- Intense and diverse Gameplay all sorts of crazy combos where you are fighting mid air or throwing a boss 3 times your size. Always getting new powers/upgrades. Bosses are amazing in this game and there are a lot of them. This game is very addictive, I couldn't stop playing.
- Perfect graphics. Some of the best I have seen
- Very Cinematic. I enjoy the story aspect of this game and cut-scenes are just another way this game shows off the graphics. Don't listen to those that complain about too many cut scenes. If you don't want to watch the cut scenes you can skip as many of them as you want. So were is the problem here?
- Highly customizable. Normal or Hard difficulties, automatic combos on or off, change controller config., choose upgrades or automatic upgrade.
- High re-playability. One great part about this game is that you can revisit all missions you have already completed. Each level you get a ranking based on how long the level took, style (combos), how many orbs collected. Go back and replay to increase rating to unlock new items and xbox achievements.
- Part of the game you play as a different character with different powers making it a nice change of pace.

Cons
- Too short. Can beat the game in about 6-8 hours. (this doesn't include time spent during cut-scenes or replaying levels for unlocks.)
- Second half of the game was a bit repetitive. You backtrack through certain regions and re-fight certain bosses, but as a different character with different objectives.
- Camera angles are very good at times. However, this is never the case when it really matters like boss fights, etc. Typically they also allow you to change camera angle too. Not a big issue just a little annoying at times.
- Menus and upgrade system can be a little complex and take some getting used to.
- Progress can only saved after each mission. (so basically every 30mins)

Verdict
The Pros are so amazing in this game that you will find the Cons not bothering you much. One of the best 1 player games I have played. It is very addictive as well, you will want to keep playing until you beat it all the way through.

The graphics are great and the cutscenes are amazing to watch even if the dialog isn't very good. The gameplay is pretty dull and repetitive and those hidden levels are pretty tough to complete. The map needs serious work as its pretty easy to get disorientated. There is no replay value after beating it on Hard. No epic boss fights, either.

Devil may cry 360 style....Oh man!

To be quiet honest, this is the first time I played devil may cry. Never played the previous ones before but was interested. So I just purchased this for my xbox 360 and man oh man is it fun. The graphics are wonderful, especially on my sony dlp 1080p hdtv. The combos are nasty in this game and I love the whole matrix movement in the air while reloading some clips into a hellish monster. After I beat this game I shall purchase a the other previous ones for my ps3. Always supporting xbox 360 first.

Some flaws but still a great game

This is my first foray into the DMC world. I am really impressed by how this game looks and am overall happy with the game play. I do have a few complaints: 1.Is it just me or can the camera get a little tricky? I found myself entering a room only to have the camera change and then immediately leave that room again 2.There are too many cut-scenes though they do add to the story. 3.Last but not least is the save feature. I found myself starting a level only to save in the middle, quit and then have to start that level from the beginning. (guess maybe I need to read the manual) Overall I would not pass this up even if you are new to the series.

With a fantastic first go around, a disappointing second outing and a much to difficult for it's own good third installment Devil May Cry returns for a fourth trip around the bend! Is this triumphant comeback worth your time and coin you may ask? Well the answer to that is a resounding YES! First off this is a new beginning of sorts for the story line which could be a welcome change for seasoned devil hunters but also a good starting point if your new to the series. You begin the adventure as newcomer protagonist Nero who brings with him some sick abilities mainly in the form of the devil bringer, which resonates in his right arm. Nero uses the devil bringer in a variety of ways. He can grab enemies, toss them in the air, slam them to the ground and in some cases pull himself closer to them. He also uses the devil bringer to reach inaccessible areas in various levels.

Veterans of the series should fear not because it wouldn't be a DMC game without an appearance to series protagonist Dante. In later levels you get to control Dante and he definitely retains his devil may care swagger plus you now have the ability to switch Dante's fighting styles on the fly. This will allow you to rack up some huge combos and look pretty pimp while doing it. While Nero and Dante may shop at the same store and visit the same hair stylist their styles are truly their own which in part makes Nero a welcome breath of fresh air to a series, which has been a little stale of late.

Devil May Cry 4 is a serviceable introduction of the series to the next gen fray but compared to other games it's not necessarily a stellar one. It does up the ante in the visuals department but the overall levels are pretty much what you have seen before. They are pretty expansive and beautifully rendered but at times you will find yourself running for through an area for a while before encountering an enemy. The boss battles are pretty challenging but where Capcom drops the ball a little is in the rehashing of bosses (you will see what I mean). Instead of offering a slew of new bosses to face off against you will find yourself backtracking and facing the same bosses again (in a somewhat different way of course). This doesn't take away from the greatness of the game but for the next DMC I could definitely do with out it. Overall DMC 4 does bring much respect back to a once great concept. The next game would be a great place to introduce even more features, enemies, bosses and overall game play elements. I am definitely curious as to whether or not we will see Nero again and what Capcom may do for the next installment in the world of Devil May Cry!

Three years since the release of devil may cry 3, dante is back for a new mission..Well sort of.
This time you play as Nero who is the new protagonist of the DMC sequel and unlike the "substitute"
Character of Raiden (Metal Gear Solid 2) Nero delivers almost as much as Dante especially with new capabilities one in particular would be the Devil Grabber which can extend to grab enemies and combined with the melee buster attack makes for one mean punch.

The grabber is also used for reaching levels that cannot be accompanied by foot. Reminiscent to both Capcom's Lost Planet and Bionic Commando. Once the game starts you are treated to a cool cinema in which Nero, Knight of the holy order is shown battling demons while his beloved Kylie performs an operatic song within the church. Then afterwards a mysterious assassin cloaked in red (guess who?) attacks the church and is confronted by Nero in a very John Wooesque scene.

The rest of the plot follows as Nero tracks down the assassin as well as unraveling the conspiracy involving the church and in the process rescuing Kylie. The gameplay never slows down due to intense boss battles, collecting orbs to increase your skills and items and solving puzzles.

My only gripe regarding this game would be some backtracking to the point in which you have to face the previous bosses, not twice but three times. And then there are the usual camera issues which can be a bit frustrating when jumping to collect orbs. Dante however has the usual guns Ebony and Ivory, but the one new weapon that stands out would be the Pandora that is capable of transforming from a arrow, to a bazooka, Gatling gun and some weird flying missile platform.

I highly recommend DMC4 regardless of minor flaws, its well worth the purchase. My regret is that I did not buy the collector's edition which comes with the DMC Anime as the DVD is now out of print due to ADV restructuring. The graphics for both PS3 and 360 are somewhat similar; however I prefer the 360 version because of the force feedback, achievement points and custom soundtrack. The game's music is still reminiscent to ramenstein but with a bit of rob zombie. The ending song is pretty good and makes for a great companion to the story. Capcom, you have done it again!! Now bring on RE 5.

An Amazing Game!!

Gameplay 9.5/10

The gameplay in DMC 4 is sensational. It has extrmely responsive controls which react promptly to you input. There are well over 50 different combos you can buy using "credits" and thats not even includin gall the possibilities you have through stringing combos together. The gameplay is essentially the same formula as the previous DMC's but it basically looks better. SPOILER: You also get to play as newcomer Nero who has many different abilities including the notable Devil Bringer, Nero's demonic arm.

Graphics 9.5/10

This look spectacular! Running at a silky-smooth 60 frames per second and superior lightning effects make this game an eye-melter. Also the particle and special effects are vibrant and brilliant. Higly detailed cahracters and super crisp textures bring this game to life. Boss characters also look excellent accompanying the amzing animation present in the game.

Presentation 7/10

This game has a decent presentation. The menus are average but saving can be a pain. In a nutshell, theres special about the menus. However the ending credits is very creative and awesome.

Lasting Appeal 8/10

After completing the game you can try again in devil hunter (hard) diffulculty. You can also attempt to recieve an SSS (highest) rank on every mission. Other than that there's not much else. Plus, there are online leaderboards so you can see where you stack up amongst the best of the best.

Overall: 9.2/10 (not an average)

This game is awarded 9.2 out of 10 for a job well done. Everything is neatly in a $59.99 package and when opened supplys over 5 hours of of Excellent action!!!

NOTE: If your still skeptical about this game, then download the demo off of the Xbox 360 Marketplace or if your lost, the Playstation Network.
