Excellent racing game. Great graphics and a real "feel" for the road if you have a Force feedback wheel & pedddles. I have about 40 racing games and this is one of my favorite 5.
A great racing game

By today's standards, this is still one awsome game. Plenty of visual treats for the eyes. For some reason the road looks shiny and glossy. I'm not aware of roads looking like that in real life, but it still works for this game. Just put the game on full settings. Sure the music will either work or not work, depending on your preferences. But fortunately there's a download out there you can use to actually change the music(not an official download, but hey you gotta change the music right?). Search and you'll find it. Infact, that's why I'm playing this game more than NFSU 2 right now, because I can change the music.
Not everyone is into the Drag and Drift and the included music, so for fun I give it 4 stars. But regardless of like or dislike, the quality is great so overall it's 5 stars for this one.
For older players

I think Need For Speed Underground might be a fun game for older players. My 8 year old enjoyed the game, but was constantly frustrated at only being able to race on one or two tracks because he couldn't ever win enough games to unlock the next level. I would definitely not recommend this game for younger players.
The best racing game ever!!!

I like the races and really like customizing the cars and racing them. There are different types of races: Drag, Drift, Sprint, Circuit, Lap Knock Out, and more!! If you want to get a really good street racing game, or just want to get a cool car and put NOS on it and customize it's visuals, This is definitely the game you'd want to get.
Oh so addictive!

So I thought the demo was okay... no great shakes. I downloaded it, played for maybe a half-hour and then blew it off my system. Then they kept advertising it cheap where I work, so I picked up a copy.
The full version is awesome! I love "drifting", the drag races, last man standing races and the circuit racing. I could watch the into (where they show the parts materializing on the car as it's racing) over and over again.
This game is best played with a controller (although I was kicking butt on my keyboard, I got a logitech daul-action (playstation style) controller and it's gotten to be a lot easier to play (mostly from the lack of having to find which button does what)
Also, the higher you push the graphics, the more cool stuff happens. At the highest levels, instead of a pole-position-esque traffic light, you get a babe or two to start you off. Also, you can get the city's lights reflecting off your hood and a lot of other little stuff.
There's only a couple reasons why I gave it less than perfect scoring.
This is the PC version here. Where's the "MP3" folder where I can listen to something besides the stuff they preloaded?
The other thing is the overly-done "crash scenes". I ended up being reminded of the "Blues Brothers" (the part where their cop car flips through the air) when I hit a truck at about 180. It literally did flips as it soared, ever-so-gracefully, in slow motion way up high in the sky. No damage of course, but all in all, it gets annoying to watch when you're trying to catch up (or keep the lead) and the camera angles and slow-mo action are crimpin' your style.
All in all, it's an awesome game. Great for anybody who enjoys a good racing game. I'm looking forward to NFS:U 2!
This game is a gotta have!!!

If you want intense racing, and I mean intense, then rush to your nearset target store right away and get this awesome game. This sequel from need for speed is probably the best one ea games ever created, and this game contains a whole lot of different kinds of street racing cars, from the mitsubishi eclipse to toyota celica, this game has it all, and not to mention intense nitrous action. If you're a 2 fast 2 furious movie lover, then get this game, it really recalls all the things that happened in the movie, making you think that you're actually in the movie. And oh yeah, this game can get so addictive that you can't put it down until you have enough( Like you'll get enough anyways), so I recommend you prepare yourselfs first.
5 stars all the way!!!!!!

I have played the demo extensively which was just released a short time ago. Being that it is so close to the full version release, it has me concerned that the flaws will not be fixed.
In circuit mode, the handling is no where near previous NFS products. When you crash, no damage; just a message saying "totalled". Controls including accerlator & steering respond sluggishly. It does not have higher resolutions for those who have the hardware to run it. In the rest of the drag world, if you cross the finish first on your roof or not, you are the winner; not here.
Despite the flaws, NOS'ing through gears in drag mode is incredible! The world around you starts to streak with colours & the speedometer climbs. Weave around cars, construction barriers & jump a train at 180MPH to finish first in 25.17 seconds. Definately cool.

finally!!! the need for speed franchise brings the import tuner world to the pc for gamers like you and me. Career mode aspect of the game puts you against bosses and regular racers. wile you start from the bottom with small cars like the honda civic or the dodge neon. but working you way up you unlock cars like the acura RSX or the nissan 350z. customization of these cars is pretty sweet but the underground 2 game does it even better. drift is introduced in this game too. Drift is when you slide around the track racking up as many points as possible so you can win. it takes a little getting used to but you can get really good at it . the drag tracks are stoopid awesome with huge jumps an traffic dodging. the only thing that this game needs is some good ol' cop chases, but this is still an awesome game no matter what.
