My son likes starfox64, but the one he has is 1997 version. This one (Star Fox without Rumble Pak) was copyrighted by Gamesport for 1999... I am wondering if it is a newer version or not. The box, however, looks pretty much like the old one. Any tip is appreciated.
Look out Andross, Fox is here..

Star Fox, son of James McCloud, is here to save the the Lylat System from the evil Andross. With his partners Falco, Peppy, and Slippy each with abilities to help you out! If you complete the game on the hard levels and beat Andross you will see someone very dear to Fox. Good luck to all and have a great time!
This Game is great!!!

I borrowed the game when i first bought my 64 and i couldn't stop playing it the graphics and pretty good and the game play is excellent. If you like the Star Wars movies you will definitly like this game. Unfortunatly i blew out my 64 by using the wrong transformer (i'm living in Rwanda a small country in africa for the time) and i'm considering buying another 64 so i can play this game. My other favorite games include: Goldeneye, World is Not Enough, and Mario Kart

There are two lines of thought on this game. Some people are turned off by the cute characters and the old 64-bit graphics and sound (not to mention the fact that most of the game is on-rails). Other people recognize this game as an oustanding achievement in game design featuring addictive gameplay, awesome graphics and music, way-cool levels, tons of replay value, and some of the coolest multi-player in history. I feel sorry for the former and high-five the latter.
This game is not merely good. It is one of the greatest games to ever come out of the mind of our man Myamoto (considered by some to be the greatest game creator of all time). It takes everything that made the first Star Fox great and takes it to the next level. There are multiple paths to many levels, and you can often change your course through the galaxy (resulting in characters you encountered earlier teaming up with you in various levels). Some levels (and bosses) allow you to move around a limited enivronment in complete 3d (you're not on rails). And while some may hate it, this game features full voice for every character (which I personally think is WAY cool).
What sends this game into the stratosphere is combination of great graphics (check out the water on the first level, and the entire fire level) great music (though still not up to par with the original), memorable characters, tight gameplay (the game gets more and more fun as your skills increase), awesome controls (this was THE game which proved to people why the N64 controller was shaped the way it was), and revolutionary multi-player.
In the end what seperates a truly great game from merely a good one is the fact that you keep coming back for more. I'm NEVER going to get tired of this game. BUY IT.
REAL HIGH FLYING ACTION!

This game is great! You are Fox and Cornaria needs your help. You must save the Lylat system from the evil Andross who is trying to destroy the Lylat system. Fly between planets helping old friends and killing the robots and monsters that Andross has sent there. Battle alongside Peppy, Slippy and Falco. Get medals on every planet and you will be able to fight on expert mode, so it doesn't get boring. You can also play multi-player in three modes. One is Point Match where you try to shoot down the number of other players that you pick. Another is Battle Royal -- be the last one to survive! In Time Attack you are on a planet called Katina and fight enemies. The player who has the most enemies down wins. The game has a great story line and great graphics (for Nintendo 64).
I have owned this game for four years and it is still not boring. All in all, it is all the airplane\spaceship action game you could ask for.
Almost as good as the original.

As with the first there is no save option but it is still fun to see how far you get in this game. Its nice and challenging its just a drag there is no continue or save option here. You can get extra lives though.Like most games it gets easier the more you play it.The graphics are superb and the music is very good too.I just recommend you get the first Star Fox cause that game is longer. You should still get this though.

Star Fox 64 is one of the most fun games I've ever played. It was one of the first N64 games to utilize the Rumble Pak (it was also one of the first to include voices for all the characters). The premise of the game is simple: you, as Star Fox, are trying to save the solar system from the evil Andross. To do this, you hop in your space ship and blow tons of enemy crafts to bits. The game is simple but fun and can be replayed over and over. I've played through Star Fox 64 more times than any other game I've ever owned.
The Good:
The Gameplay is fast paced, simple and fun. Action packed- there is never a dull moment.
The controls are tight and are perfect.
The level design is excellent.
The force feedback through the Rumble Pak makes the game feel more intense.
The replay value is through the roof- there are many different ways to get to the final boss.
All characters have voices!
Lots of Secrets!
The Bad:
The "multiplayer" game is really really bad. It's so bad that it is not worth playing. But that's what Goldeneye is for, right?
The graphics, by today's standards, are outdated
Some of the voices are pretty annoying (Slippy in paticular)
This game is nothing short of a masterpiece. I still play Starfox 64 today, and it's just as much fun as when I got it 6 years ago. Everything seems perfectly tweaked and just right. A game for the ages.
BUY THIS GAME PLEASE!!!!!!!

This game ia amazing. The graphics are outta this world. The controls are pretty easy to learn if you go to training mode or you can just pick the controls up while playing the game! All the levels are when you are in a plane except for a few levels in a tank!! The main objective is to go through different levels intill you come to the level where you kick Andross's butt! You can upgrade your sheild by getting three gold rings and recover sheild by getting silver one. This game is DA' BOMB! Go Starfox 64!!!!!!!!
