Ok, someone compared this game to Code Veronica. Oh no! This game not only lacks in graphics, but it lacks in weapons also. The guy that you control don't look bad, but the backrounds are terrible and make it hard to maneuver. I bought this game ....... new and found out real quick why. You get what you pay for. ..........

Don't play at night !

Don't play this one at night ! Not because it's scary. It's just dark and hard to see during the day ! This is a pretty good game ! Good sound, great solid grphics and models, Good story and it's a good way to pass the time until Resident Evil Code: Veronica. I bought this game on a whim and at first I had trouble getting the hang of the controls. Once that little snag got ironed out however it was fun as hell from then on! This game isn't that scary but can get nerve racking espcially with some of the masterfully crafted ambient sounds they use. The music is almost a parody of standard Sci-Fi horror. The graphics are good some of the characters are just plain goofy looking but the everything else is rock solid and clean looking. I recommed this fun little game ! It is a great way to warm up for RE:CV and a great way to get into the whole survival horror genre (if you havn't already)

Cousin of Resident Evil

This game is so much like Resident Evil, it's not even funny.
However, it's not exactly the same storyline. Carrier has a different unique storyline. It's just the gameplay, the angles and bad acting. Of course you got to have bad acting in one of these games. I give it four because Dreamcast didn't go over the edge using the same storyline as Resident Evil. Other than that it's a good game. Not a great game, but still good. I suggest you rent it instead.

Not What I Expected!

This game was too easy. I rented it three days ago and I've beaten it. And the characters are so block shaped. I say Resident Evil has the lead in the horror/action category. Now there's a game! None of those limited weapons! It is always long, you're always well equiped with weapons and the graphics are excellent. But this game was not what I expected.

The graphics are pretty, but not yet up to what the dreamcast is fully capablee of. however it is a good game and if there is a sequel i am sure the graphics will be better. the game is fun and interesting, the story although not really new is still well done. the camera angles are at times awkard, as is at times enemies are right on the other side of the door, attacking before the player has a chance. but for all it's faults it is a enjoyable and fun game.

FROSTRATION

Well, this game is not what I expected. The graphics are not for Sega Dreamcast. It looks like this game was ment to be for Playstation. Graphics are not so smooth and they suck. I felt like I played 'Silent Hill' with comparison of 'Resident Evil2' on the Playstation. Produsers of this game did not use all the capability of the Dreamcast. The only thing I liked in this game is the scope. The sound effects could be better. This game is the poor parody on 'Resident Evil.' I can't say nothing more .

fairly useless, but if you're a fan then go for it

Plagiarizing makes the video game world go 'round. Sega had Streets of Rage, Nintendo had Final Fight. Before that, there was Double Dragon and Renegade. And that's just one subgenre. It is perfectly common for a game to be released on the heels of another game, utilizing the same structure, topic, and style of gameplay. In the case of Carrier, it is obvious that their developers stayed up a lot of nights playing Resident Evil. But if you're going to rip off a game, at least attempt an improved version, not just a pale knock-off.

This game does nothing better than the Resident Evil series. The graphics are worse by being so simple (and dark, dark to the point where I had to turn up the brightness on my TV to see necessary objects.) The premise is twice as hokey as RE's S.T.A.R.S. group. It isn't nearly as scary as RE. The long stretches of dialogue exposition in Resident Evil were tolerable because they were interesting and revealed plot points. Here, they are tediously boring. RE has minimal backtracking, this has copious amounts of backtracking. And, most comically, Resident Evil had one of the most cheesy, hokey, unbelievably delivered dialogue of any video game EVER. So Carrier should have at least got THAT right, huh? Well, sadly, no. How Jaleco managed to find voice acting even MORE uninspired, boring, and wooden than RE, I'll never know, but they did.

So that's the story. Gameplay is a mirror image of Resident Evil. Same artistic backdrops, same wanky control, same "spooky" atmosphere and gradually revealing storyline. Just twice as boring and unnecessary. Especially now that RE2 and RE3 are available on Dreamcast, you might want to make Carrier the last of the "survival horror" titles you obtain for the Dreamcast.

Well, it is better than Blue Stinger. That's a plus, right?

Not bad

Carrier is a pretty good Resident Evil clone for the Dreamcast. It takes place on a giant ship where humans are turning into hideous mutants - now thats original! But actually, it has a couple of neat innovations of its own such as the scope that lets you see who is infected, and the opportunity to replay the game as a second character. Its also quite tough to finish, but worth the effort. Mind you, the climax is such a rip off of the tyrant battle from RE1 that I'm surprised a lawsuit didn't follow! Should be going fairly cheap now, so pick one up.

Not brilliant, but still a good try

First off, I'd like to thank Jaleco for the effort they put into making this game. It's not the greatest in the world of survival entertainment, but it was a good first effort, and I wanted to acknowledge that. The game has a fair amount of good and bad points, and I'm going to go over all of them, starting with the bad just to get them out of the way, and to end this review on more of a high note since I did enjoy this game more than I didn't enjoy it.

The obvious bad point was the voices, and voice acting. The main character, Jack, had almost no inflection in his voice no matter what he was talking about, or doing. I would have liked to have been able to turn his voice off, and have just read what was going on, it was so annoying at times. Plus, watching his mouth still move for a long time after he was finished talking was a true annoyance. I did get used to him after about an hour, but I wish they had found someone who could have showed just a little more emotion.

The graphics were a bit chunky and blocky at times too, and the camera angles were almost too excessively annoying, especially going around corners, where if you were the character, you would be able to see down the hall, but the view they give you on the screen is still a third person look, and you can't see down the hall until you actually start moving down it.

Okay, now onto the good. The weapon selection in the game isn't all that big, but you do get what you need to accomplish your goals so I don't really have a complaint about that. As a matter of fact, I liked the fact that you were given a weapon that had unlimited use. It's called a welder(why I don't know), and seems strange to be a weapon, but it's very effective against single zombies, and some of the smaller creatures you run across. This allows you to save your ammunition for some of the tougher zombies, and the bigger monsters you run into later. I never came close to running out of ammunition by using the welder a lot early in the game when the creatures were weaker.

Another good thing was the BEM-T3 scope, which you are given early in the game. This device allows you to look at people, and tell if they are still human or have been affected by the Ark virus. It also allows you to see through lockers, through plants to look for hidden doors, and also helps negate the bad camera angles you will suffer when going around corners. I would walk around a corner, and then pull out the scope to check down the hall, because you are then given a first person view, and can check for hiding creatures.

Another bonus was an unlimited inventory, so you didn't have to stockpile weapons or health drinks, or anything else. You were able to carry everything you picked up without having to fuss about whether or not you really needed to carry it at that time, and then run back somewhere to retrieve something you needed when getting to a certain door or area. So, kudos to Jaleco for this fine first effort. The story line might have been a bit weak, and all my questions about Ark and the motivations of some of the characters weren't answered, but overall, it was a good try, and the next time they might make a more polished, complete product. I'm willing to wait and see.

this game is a great game, if you've read any of my other reviews then you know that i dont give games good reviews because i dont want to be mean, i speak the truth...this game is a definite take off of resident evil. the button control is the same, if capcom found out about this, jaleco would be in big trouble. i am giving this a good rating because it is like resident evil, resident evil is awesome. so this game is awesome. you should buy the game, but find a walkthrough for it, too because otherwise it would be too hard. This game is kindof cool, but it is worth the money
