This is probably the worst video game, let alone playstation game, I have ever played. Let me explain:
the storyline is diabolical and incredibly predictable, "you find out you have a virus in you, you must find an antidote, fight a couple of pathetic bosses while searching, get the antidote, live happily ever after, fin. That's the plot, pathetic isn't it. Then there is the sound; ITS ANNOYING!! it's a couple similar and lame tunes attempting to add some suspense to the very, very little that is already there and may I add, it is incredibly repetitive. Now for the actual gameplay; you simply run around with an awful camera that moves all over the place and half the time you can hardly tell where you are going, the controls are just the D-pad and mash the square button (no skill or strategy required) or if you are feeling sneaky you can do something called a stealth kill where you sneak up on people, kill them, and retrieve their dog-tags...hmmm...doesn't that sound faintly familiar...Metal Gear Solid...ahem...anyway, the stealth kill is the only thing that gives you any challenge and I must admit it was pretty cool watching him jump off briges and land on someone for a stealth kill, then that got boring and tedious. The actual environment is unbelievably bland and plain. No scenery, no nothing, just a few buildings and inside maybe a few shelves and MAYBE some beds with people sleeping in them. The only reason this game got 1 star, becuase I would have given it 0 stars if possible, is becuase of Wolverine's decent, yet very limited, moves he can pull off, like tossing two people up and skewering them on his claws, but the awe-effect wears off rapidly and soon the moves become plain old boring. For instance, their are 6 acts (chapters) with about 4 scenes(levels) in each, and to unlock new moves you have to collect a certain number of dog-tags, and listen to this, after Act 2 Scene 2 I had already unlocked every single move!! Which means for the next 20+ levels I had to use the same move over and over again! Overall, the game felt like it had been rushed in the making and the final product, unfortunately, was not good, not good at all. SO PLEASE, RENT THIS GAME BEFORE PURCHASE, at least I rented it first, phew! If you are looking for a game based upon a recent movie, I would recommend Enter the Matrix, it makes Wolverines Revenge look like a bad version of Pong, thats all I am going to say. Choose wisely, and good luck to those who purchase this game (you'll need all the luck you can get).
Im so glad they have cheats for this game

I was able to breeze by this game easily once I found out that
there was cheats for Invulnerability and Level Selecting. So many Levels of the game kept me from having fun, so I was able to beat the game rather quickly, so many bosses were difficult to fight and figure out how to defeat. I will be able to return the game before my 7 days are up and return it for a full-refund/or exchange with a game of equal value. Not a fan of this game at all, had so much potential but alas its not all that great of a game and yes Im a fan of all X-men/Wolverine related stuff but not a fan of lying.
one of the worst I've played

this game looks and feels like a PS1 game. Wolverine kind of glides around like his is skating, not very realistic. It's a button masher like the hulk.
Another disappointment...

As a rather big fan of comics, especially X series... This is just another in a long line of disappointments. I have never found a Marvel game worth the $ you shell out for it. If you really must have this, wait a few months or find it used. I gave this 2 stars because the graphics are pretty nice, but thats where that ends. If you are a hardcore fan, then maybe this is for you but if not, just wait or go get something else.
a failure to some, great to others

This game did not appeal to me very much at all. The combat system had a good concept, but was not executed the way I thought it would be. You hit an enemy and after a couple of slashes, he realizes he's hit. Stealth kills aren't all that either. The graphics on this game are horrible. When I saw screen shots of this game, it looked good, but as soon as I played it, looked like a Playstation 1 game. The control and camera was not terrible. It's somewhat ok and works for me. The story was probably the only good thing to ever come out of this game. Wolverine has a virus in him and has two days to find a cure or he dies!! Voice acting was GREAT for obvious reasons (you figure it out). But in the end this game was dumb. Only fans of the X-men comics, movies or whatever will like this game, and others will not.

So first off, I'm a huge Wolverine fan, I even have a web site dedicated to him, so you can imagine my excitement over this game. I have to admit, when I first played it I enjoyed it. The reason being is because I thought the strike moves were pretty cool and there was a pretty interesting story. However, after about an hour of playing this game, it became very repetive and frustrating. First of all, there are glitches. I got stuck in walls, stuck inside of a ladder, and more. The stike moves becamse boring and tiresome. Also, there isn't much strategy to this game, just a lot of button mashing. The graphics really aren't that bad, but they aren't great either, they are medicore. Also, the enemy A.I. is pretty stupid. They aren't very smart and that doesn't make the game challenging in the respect. However, in some levels it's too challenging to the point to where I was about to break my controller. My advice to consumers is to rent this game before you even consider buying it. I unfortanetly bought this game in hopes it would be an awesome Wolverine game, unfortunately, X2: Wolverine's Revenge is a sorry excuse for a video game.
O MY GOD

This is the hardest game ever made. DO NOT BUY THIS. I want to break the game in half it is so frusterating. There are no savepoints in the middle of the game and it takes you about 20 hours to beat the third level. By my fourth time around trying to beat a level I gave up and haven't played it since.
Wolverine's Revenge Fails to Satisfy

I recently rented "Wolverine's Revenge" and I have to say it is one of the worst games ever developed. The idea was solid, but it simply wasn't executed well.
First of all, the voice of Wolverine is provided by Mark "Stop calling me Luke" Hamill and it shows. If you've ever seen "Batman: The Animated Series" it's easy to hear how similar Wolverine's voice is to the Joker's. To make matters more confusing, the game's cover features the actor who played Wolverine on the big screen, Hugh Jackman, although the game is completely devoid of his presence. Fortunately, the voice of Profesor Charles Xavier is provided by Jackman's co-star, Patrick Stewart. Of course, you're probably only interested in this particular game if you're a fan of the movies, so let's discuss the game play.
The enemy soldiers are extremely generic throughout each level and all of the bosses are simply no fun to fight. Each level is filled to the brim by faceless drones that quickly prove their worthlessness by dying in the exact same manner time-after-time, regardless of your actions. Once you kill all the soldiers that stand in Wolverine's way, you are treated to an extremely limiting and ultimately unsatisfying "fight" with one of Marvel's many key villains. Rather than having an all out brawl with each signature character, you must first figure out the permitted attack. Unfortunately, the game does not allow the player to fight without limitations. Endlessly jamming Wolverine's claws into Sabretooth, the Wendigo, or even Lady Deathstrike will do no good unless you do things the game's way and discover the only allowed attack.
In addition to a quirky fighting engine, one of the most frustrating aspects of the game is its layout, coupled with Wolverine's lack of abilities. While the player may extend or retract Wolverine's claws at will or make use of his feral abilities in an infared like atmosphere, it is impossible for Wolverine to scale the smallest ledge or snowbank even though his vertical jump easily clears the object or area in question.
Simply put, "Wolverine's Revenge" was a rushed product and it shows. If the development staff wasn't forced to release the game at the same time as "X2: X-Men United" 's theatrical release, it probably could have been a well polished, enthralling game. Unfortunately, that is not the case for this game.
A Dissapointing Game

I played this game, and soon I had concluded that this game was purely horrible. It seems like a game to look forward to when Spider-Man came out and it seemed fairly well. But Wolverine's Revenge is nothing like it, and is purely a dissapointing game. The gameplay is ok, but otherwise it seems like a really bad game. The graphics make the characters look horrible. Patrick Stewart is at least voicing Professer X's voice, which makes the sound pretty decent and the music is pretty good, but otherwise this game was one of the most dissapointing. The fighting isn't very good either, and the first boss battle against Sabretooth gets boring soon, because the battle is purely made out of jumping behind Sabretooth and grabbing him and throwing him into objects.
Sure you have nothing better to do?

This game has some neat cutscenes, but you'd better be willing to spend some time to get through them.
Some of the ways of conveying Wolverine's mutant abilities are interesting mostly as novelties: blow your top from trading enough beatings, and you'll achieve feral rage, killing people much more quickly with your bare claws; find your opponents and their security systems in an infra red-resembling mutant sense mode. Healing's a bit slow -- so much so that I found myself doing work around my apartment while waiting to restore full health. For a fighting game featuring a guy that's supposed to be able to [do away with] large numbers of people in record time, the hand-to-hand with mere mortals seems to show that you catch a beat down just as easily as you give one until you line up a choreographed move (as in: get your victim(s) to stand in the right place and then bang out the appropriate combination buttons) or work yourself into a blind rage. This makes the fact that you can only [expire] once in a level before being sent back to the start a rub -- this can be very trying when it's that one thing that you have to spend time minutes getting back to that you really want and need to work on. The bosses are too often boring: most of them are brutes that are as interesting to fight as Donkey Kong (Sabretooth, Wendigo, and Juggernaut aren't the brightest lights on the porch), except for the fact that you are stuck in a ... setting where you can't really move around, the camera adjustments don't work, and the surroundings explode with a bit of due warnings. The high points (e.g. feeding enemies to one another) are too far in between given these disruptions in the pace.
In short, if you think there's anything else you'd rather be doing with your time (reading back issues of the comic, playing some other, less [interesting] game), pass this one over. Marvel would be better off making a comic out of the game's material rather than the other way around.
