This game is stunning. Every aspect of soccer is in this game from the fans holding your flag in the stands to the top scorer award at the end of each season. This is a must buy for any soccer lover

Good graphics but bad controls and physics

PES has good graphics, but the controls and unrealistic physics detract from the overall experience.

First, the controls for the players are difficult, especially moving and shooting. When you shoot (by pressing square), a meter fills. The Fill-factor of the meter determines how high the ball goes, and the direction that your player stands determines the horizontal direction. But, the shot meter fills up far too quickly. Just one light tap fills it half way. So, almost every time I took a shot on the goal, the ball went over the cross bar. Needless to say, the shooting mechanics could have been greatly improved.
Also, the left analog stick feels very "loose." I have to push the stick all the way to move my player.

Another feature that needs improvement is the physics. When running at a moderate to fast pace, your player can barely turn to the right or left, which makes it very difficult to juke around defenders. Also, when running, your player puts the ball about 10 FEET in front of him. That is ridiculous; in real life a professional soccer player can keep the ball 4-5 feet in front of him, even when he is running.

And, there are many other issues like these two.

I know that this game is very popular, but for me responsive controls and a less frustrating experience are much more important than graphics and sound.

The Best Soccer Game on PS2, Period

After purchasing Fifa 07 and being dissapointed by it's mechanical players and sluggish game play, I went ahead and rented Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 after reading a series of positive reviews online.

The difference between Fifa 07 and this game is night and day in regards to game play. With this title, I found a fluid gameplay that absolutely blows away Fifa. The most important thing to me in a sports game is gameplay, and this title is just better in that regard in every way. Scoring goals takes a lot more skill and creativity than anything in Fifa 07.

I also really love how international teams can compete in a world cup-like tournament vs. Fifa which holds no option other than exhibitions.

There are two things missing from this game that Fifa has, and thus makes me give it 4 stars vs 5. Those two things are a great soundtrack during menus, and a wide variety of teams. Missing from WE:PES 2007 are MLS, German League, and the authentic names of most English Premiere League teams. Despite this, the gameplay itself is so much stronger than Fifa's that it is a minor flaw in what is the best soccer game ever created.

I recommend renting both Fifa and Winning Eleven to see the difference for yourself before purchasing. There is a reason Fifa is so much cheaper and easier to find, it's just not as good as Winning Eleven.

Football Glory

I've had this game in my collection ever since its release. It's the only game I play these days. As an avid football fan and player, WEPES 2007 is the most realistic and entertaing football game on the market. I enjoyed playing the early FIFA games as any other guy but while in vacation in Bosnia, I managed to get a copy of one of the earlier versions of the WE series and after 5 minitues of play I could tell how much better it was than FIFA. Konami did an excellent job in the detail of the games to make it as realistic as possible. I really can't get bored of it. I only wish to play it more and when football season is in full bloom, this game is terrific for satisyfing your urges to win championships with your favourite team as you watch them perform live in the real world and club championships.

The only con of the game is that not many teams are licensed, specifially the English Premier League aside from Man U. and Arsenal. Other than the licensing issues which Konami are working and promise to deliver in the next version, this is game is awesome and I will continue to buy the upcoming releases in WE franchise.
Kudos Konami.

EDIT: This game has been selling at a very fast rate. The price on Amazon when it first came out was 40$. Now its hard to find it under 50$-60$. So get it while its in stock.

Cheers.

This is one of the best soccer games I found around. I'm really amazed because the AI, the game is "really real".
When I went out to buy the game at the stores I couldn't find it, my only chance to buy the game was Amazon and I really appreciate it.
Thanks guys...

I had fifa 2007 but somebody told me to try winning11 pro evolution and I did, it is far better than fifa and since I received it, I never put the Fifa game in my console anymore. I'm will trade it for something else. Dont need it. Pro evolution is simply the best.

Very good graphics and multiple options to play, even for novice PS users.

Very solid

I thoroughly enjoyed this game when I purchased it a few months ago, and still hop on occasionally if nothing else is going on. The player movements and mechanics are some of the best i've seen in a sports game.
DEAD are the days where a player is attached to the ball as they run... now the ball has its own speed and force and the player needs to be careful or else it'll get away from them.
A bit hard to get a hold of the shooting at first- but it's no harder than real life I'd say. Good level of customization and nicely detailed leagues with plenty of info.
Highly recommended!

Pro Evo 2007 is just plain awesome. With both player and ball movement outdoing anything that EA can come up with in the FIFA series, this is a game that is fun to learn in easy mode before increasing the difficulty. The numerous ways to score goals keeps the interest going and the different modes makes replicating the feats of your favourite country, team or player great fun.

Two hearty thumbs up

Almost Perfect

I'm Pro Evolution Soccer regular player since version 1 when menus ware just a simple group of text lines. Before PES the game was know as ISS.... Konami always builded a solid and real soccer simulator, keeping that in mind all the time, the versions released until this PES6 only have the gameplay inside the four lines as the primary target "forgetting" other stuff as Fifa have.

That lack of info outside the green carpet never made me return to Fifa again, after starting the first match in PES we get hooked to the game, usualy it takes 1 to 3 hours to beginners to start feeling and learn the gameplay, after that experience isn't easy to search for other soccer title, PES is the soccer king. Even after years and large hours playing, its dificult to get the same movement or goals repeated. Each player lot of settings, body and mind, all that can change that player evolution in the field and so the team behaviour.

PS3 version 7 to release in October is of course expected to be move the line up with added player animations, updated players/teams and so much more stuff outside the lines.

About all, gameplay, ball physics, graphics, perfect... a game we must have.
